    It was bank holiday Monday so I travelled down to London to chill out in Hyde Park with Frenchie. We spent a few hours basking in the sun eating ice-cream and watching the Brazilian fighting dancers (I don't know what the proper name for this is!). After a while it started: Me "Please can we go to Carnaby Street?" Him "Why?" Me "Cos I want to." Him "Yeah.. But Why?" Me "Cos I want to go to Lush!" Him "But you have enough of that stuff!"     Us women don’t have an easy life do we? Our bathrooms are normally full of lotions and potions that we hope will give us perfect skin and keep us younger and more youthful looking. For as long as I can remember I have had weird skin that tolerates very few beauty products. Cleansers have always been a complete no-no for me, as everything I have tried has caused an eruption of spots, lumps, bumps and itchy red rashes.     One of my friends works in our local branch of Lush and is always recommending products to me (I suspect she may be on commission!). One of the first products that she mentioned was Angels On Bare Skin, a cleanser and exfoliator based on an ancient medieval recipe. Like all Lush products it is hand-made, suitable for vegetarians, has not been tested on animals and uses natural ingredients.     One questions I usually try to ask myself when buying anything is, "So, do I really need it?". I am trying to get down my credit card bill and this question is really good when trying to make a purchasing decision. Most of the time however, the answer to the question is "No, not really but what the hell I'm going to buy it anyway!!!" this is my fairly spontaneous way of buying and sometimes I am left with clothes I will never wear and shoes I think I will but never have. On this occasion though, I was left with a little gem of a product that I think I will be using for quite a while to come ... more

    Lush Angels On Bare Skin is a cleanser and exfoliator, it removes dead skin cells gently, and it cleanses the skin with the most natural ingredients. Loosely based on a Medieval recipe for skin cleansing, it combines traditional ingredients with modern day know how. This product does not look particularly pretty, it is a greyish green colour, and has a consistency similar to Playdough, with bits in it! It comes in a small plastic pot, containing 100g of the “stuff”, it is quite economical, because you only need a small amount each time you use it. Here is a full list of ingredients ... more

    I first came across Lush about 4 years ago on a trip to Edinburgh with my best friend, and so my love affair with both Lush and Edinburgh began! Unfortunately my love affair was kinda short lived, as after that visit I lived in Hull for 2 years and then Stoke-on-Trent for another 2 years - and neither had a Lush store! So I would only occasionally visit the Manchester and Leeds stores (and get the occassional present from said best friend!). I am also aware that they have a website that you can order from, but I'm loathed to spend £4 on postage when the thing I want to order costs £4 aswell ... more

    On a recent trip to London I came across the Lush store on Regent Street completely by chance. Normally I purchase my Lush products off the website www.lush.co.uk because I live so damn far away from one, so I was excited at the prospect of actually going into a store finally. When I entered the store I was surprised at the smell. Normally Lush products smell gorgeous but the smell of the shop was not very pleasant, still this didn’t dash my excitement as their products have always performed well for me.     I hate soap and water, but equally hate cleansers that you just wipe off with cotton wool (I always feel greasy and unclean after using them). What I like is a good face wash that doesn’t contain soap but does require me to use warm water on my face. So I went to the lush website to see what they could offer me. I was drawn to this product by the name. ‘Angels on Bare Skin’. How could I possibly resist such a seductive and beautiful name? And it is based on a Medieval recipe which would have been hellishly expensive in its day, which bought out both the romantic and the extravagant in me. Well ... more

    From time to time, I have been known to frequent that rather tempting little cosmetics shop they call Lush. The promise being that all their products are handmade and use only the freshest ingredients in the making. I have always had good experiences with the products I have bought and although they can be a little pricey, the indulgence factor is well worth it!
