3 Stars A disappointing product from lush! Review with images 11/07/2011
    User doesn't recommend the product

Advantages Advantages Scent, easy to use and rinse out, lathers well, cleans my hair well and lasts longer than bottled

Disadvantages Disadvantages Dries out my scalp, tangles up my hair, scent does not transfer, price

Lush ‘New’ Shampoo Bar I love lush, I have tried a lot of their products in the past year and I quite like their shampoo bars. I have tried three shampoo bars (including this one) including: Trichomania, which I did not like and Seanik, which I LOVE. - Lush description of the product “Stimulating spice shampoo bar for tired scalps suffering from hormonal hair loss. In times of stress and hormonal change, like pregnancy and after giving birth, your hair can start to fall out. The New Shampoo Bar is for those times. We make it with bay, clove and cinnamon essential oils to stimulate the scalp ... more

Advantages Advantages Leaves hair in great condition, Can get away without using conditioner, handy to take away

Disadvantages Disadvantages A bit messy, slightly expensive, stained my bath!

I rarely spend very much money on beauty products or cosmetics as they don’t especially float my boat, and the only time I set foot in Lush is to pick up stocking fillers at Christmas. However, a friend who was going away recently passed some cosmetics and toiletries on to me that she couldn’t take with her and among them were no less than four of these shampoo bars! (By the way, my friend isn’t going to prison…I just realised that’s what it sounded like!) When I first went to use it I realised I had literally no clue what to do, but after a quick google search I garnered some tips! I know ... more

Advantages Advantages Hair feels clean & smells great

Disadvantages Disadvantages must be careful not to let soap get wet...

When I saw this product on the Lush website, I was a bit dubious about a solid shampoo- afterall, I have to use a fair palmfull of the liquid stuff to get a lather on my long hair- but I wanted one more product on my on-lline shop because I got a free gift for spending more than 30 quid...so I decided to try it. About New Hair: The information given about this product is that it is reviving for the scalp and helps to remove general grime and styling products. It is also supposed to help if you are suffering from hair loss due to stress or hormone problems by stimulating the hair follicles. It ... more

Advantages Advantages Does appear to prevent hair falling out, lasts ages

Disadvantages Disadvantages Seems to strip hair colour, slightly drying on my hair

Lush, the handmade cosmetics store, is most famous for its soaps and bath products but it also has a haircare range, including innovative solid shampoos. These work like soap: you lather up under the shower either by rubbing the bar between your hands or applying it straight to your head. Rinse out the resulting lather as usual and you are left with clean hair! The most recent solid shampoo I have tried is the New bar. This is designed to both give shine to the hair and stimulate hair follicles to maximise growth. I don't have a problem with thinning hair, but I do seem to shed an awful lot of ... more

1 Star I HATE NEW! Review with images 03/06/2006
    User doesn't recommend the product

Advantages Advantages Small & convenient, long-lasting, great smell, good value for money.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages DESTROYS YOUR HAIR.

Lush's 'New' Shampoo Bar is quoted as being a "Stimulating bar for tired scalps". It is said to stimulate new hair growth (hence the name) and as I am trying to grow my hair longer I decided to give it a whirl. Yes I am a sucker for advertising! Without meaning to state the obvious, a shampoo bar is a shampoo in solid form. It seems a strange concept but after trying a few already I do wonder why other companies don't offer them as readily. The only other company I know of that makes solid shampoo is Burt's Bees. Some of Lush's solid shampoos are made in huge cakes then cut up to be sold and ... more

Advantages Advantages nice and spicey smell, reduction in hair fall definetly

Disadvantages Disadvantages can dry the hair out, strips colour

So the concept of solid shampoo's was very new to me and I have to say its one of lush's more unusual products..which of course meant i had to try one!! hehe I have been loosing hair like crazy over the last few months, and so the sweet little shop assistant helped me pick out new shampoo bar and explained how you use it. I have to say I left the shop still feeling a little confused and ended up using waaay too much the first time I tried it. The shampoo bar is a red colour..well red and white bits to be more precise and had two cinnamon sticks in the middle. It smells heavily of cinnamon and ... more

Advantages Advantages good for oily hair, refreshing, no packaging, practical

Disadvantages Disadvantages value for money, too drying for dry or damaged hair

Design This is a "naked" product- a solid shampoo bar with no packaging, which saves the environment. It is a round, solid red bar with tightly-packed granules that are visible. It comes with a little cinnamon stick on top. It is recommended to keep it away from water, as it is soluable, so it is best to store it in a dry place. Lush do a round metal tin especially for this purpose that costs £2.50 which I do not like personally, as the shampoo tends to get stuck inside if put in while wet and you have to bang on the tine to get it out. It's very handy for travelling with though, and I am told ... more

Advantages Advantages Can have a huge effect on hair loss!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be drying for the hair

I am quite the Lush addict - a lover of the scent, performance and natural benefits of their products. The only thing I am not so affectionate about is the price of their products. However, for this particular shampoo, I think £4.53 is reasonable considering the longetivity (as the Lush website quotes: 'One hard shampoo lasts as long as 3 regular bottles'. TO THE EYE >>> The shampoo bar is an intriguing red, circular slab of dark pink granules with the odd cinnamon stick on top - these sticks do tend to fall off after the 2nd usage but cinnamon oil is one of the integrated ingredients so I ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages not suited for sensitive scalps

I initially bought this shampoo as I was suffering from hair loss and the staff at the Lush highly recommended this product to me for hair growth. It costs £5.40 and weighs about 70 grammes. I felt odd using this at first as it was a bar, but soon got use to it. It lathered really well and smelt like cinnamon. My hair looked amazing when I used this shampoo and I received a few compliments on my hair. It made my hair look very shiny, glossy and full of volume. My hair smelt great as well and had alot of moisture. My hair had plenty of shine and softness. I used this shampoo with American cream ... more
