    During this elongated gap year of mine, I have been trying to keep myself busy (as well as trying to make a few quid) by going into various local primary schools to teach basic woodwind skills on sax, clarinet and flute. It’s hard work and more often than not the kids just want to play up and are not too interested in hitting the right notes. A lot of them though seem to really look forward to their 20-minute lessons (that’s as long as their attention span lasts, then they just lose interest).     Having 5 young children that are very friendly they are forever coming home with head lice. It really gets on my nerves, as some parents don’t check their children’s hair so their children pass them on to other children. Old wives tales say they only go on to clean hair but that is nonsense they go to any hair they are not fussy. I went to my local chemist and was told about lyclear crème rinse, so I brought it. You only have to leave it on hair for 10 minutes then wash it out. If your doing a lot of heads like me then wear some plastic gloves. All you do is wash your hair or children’s hair ... more

    Did you ever have Nitty Nora the nit nurse in your school when you were a kid? I remember it well, lining up, ready for the dreaded woman donned with plastic gloves to go rifling through your hair! Wondering if shes going to send you to the going home room, so that your parents can sort out your infestation, or if you were going to be nit free and manage to escape with just a ruffled barnet! Ok, so its not that bad now in school, but nethertheless, still my son decided to bring home a few unwelcome hair guests today. So i'm going to try out Lyclear Creme Rinse to aliminate the lice!     After my little girl has a bath and her hair washed,I always do what my mother did to me as a child and put all her hair in little tiny plats, I have to use a fine comb to do it because her hair is so long and fine, as I was doing it I saw somthing right at the nape of her neck, I got it out and know straight away what it was. So the next day I phoned up the school to let them know that she has head lice and that I was going to keep her of school for the day untill I have treated her hair.     Our little lad has had head lice on a few occasions since he started at primary school. He never moands about his head itching, we generally know he's got them if we see him scratching round the back of his neck or behind his ears. My other half is a bit bad with her eye sight so it's usually me who has the job of trying to see if they are there. He's had them about three times now. We've tried to use the Tee Tree lotiona nd the nit comb but we don't seem to be able to get rid of them all.     I am a mother of two girls who are always complaining that their head itches. I check their hair every night incase they have got any lodgers (that`s what we call them in our household). Alas they have none. I recently received a letter from their school saying that there was a case of headlice going around, at getting this letter I was rather annoyed, knowing that I check my daughters hair on a regular basis.     My 3 year old daughter very kindly brought nits home from pre school and we all caught them. Lyclear is like a heavy, tingly conditioner that you saturate your hair with for 10 minutes. I won't go into loads of detail about the use of the product as there are plenty of good reviews on here already. Lyclear seems to have done the job. We are now waiting for the 7 days retreatment period. I think the comb that comes with the Lyclear lotion is no good for finding nits and lice. In fact most nit combs are poor unless you are absolutely loaded with nits they are very hard creatures to find ... more

    Advantages Advantages Wonderfully useful for a child who is embarrassed about having head lice and wonderfully quick for mother to apply!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages I think the lice are becoming resistant to this product.

    I am a mother of three children, two of which are school age. I also work part time in a school and I am often confronted with the problem of head lice at work and at home (much to my horror!). I have always recommended Lyclear to the children who approach me in the school yard, scratching, but I am now thinking of recommending a different product. I have always used Lyclear on my children and my family, but have noticed it is becoming less effective as it seems more and more people are suffering (yes, suffering) from headlice. I am now finding that I have to reapply it nearly once a fortnight ... more
