I have an MBNA credit card, indeed I have had this for some four years. It is one of those charity ones, so no points for me, but money to Charity when I spend. The interest rate is fairly competitive and the service is good, indeed no mistakes at all. There is no annual fee, which is a huge bonus. MBNA is the worst or nearly the worst credit card company. I made a single purchase and waited for the card statement to come in - it didn't and I forgot about the single purchase I had made. For three months I did not receive any statement. In the fourth month MBNA billed me for three late payments at £25.00 a month. My protestations were to no avail and the customer service was simply awful. After speaking to a supervisor I finally managed to get one month's late payment removed but still had to pay the other two. My advice to anyone taking out a credit card with MBNA is DON'T! ...

...organisations I owed debt to MBNA were the most totally unhelpful out of the lot of them. When you go on a DMP they ask all your creditors to take a reduced payment with no interest being incured so you can actually have money to live on and pay off your debts. MBNA were the only ones who would not remove the interest. For a short period of time I was paying them roughly £53 odd per month and they were taking interest of £48! I rang them up to ...

MBNA are very unpleasant people to deal with. I lost my job and fell behind with payments - I never defaulted, it is all repaid - but I was late sometimes. MBNA began phoning repeatedly between 8am and 8pm. One of these harrasment calls I particularly remember. The harraser called and I explained that the money had left my bank account and was on it's way to them - this takes 4 working days in the UK. He then asked if I could make a payment by charge ...

What can i say the worst customer service experience i have had the misfortune to come across, i made a credit card cheque out for £50 they billed me for the same cheque twice once for the correct amount £50 and then again for £1500 ! i have called everyday for the last 2 weeks they promise to ring you back (they dont) i get put on hold for 30 or 40 minutes at a time and guess what they still havent refunded the money, steer well clear ! you have been warned. ...

I used to find MBNA very helpful indeed 15 years ago. Now it makes me very annoyed that they have tied up with Virgin and several other providers and their service has seriously declined. I have been incensed tonight to find that they are having spam email sent to me to encourage me to take out their cards when the reality is that they will not offer me the card. Their intention to offer a superior service has now been abandoned and they are just providing poor services for other organisations who dont want their own organisation. MBNA are a truly dreadful organisation - my advice would be to avoid them at all costs!!! Without my knowledge, they allowed a transaction to be made to a credit card I used to have with them that had been cancelled 2.5 years before!! The first I knew about this - literally - was when I got a threatening letter sent to my mother's house saying that they were considering sending the bailiffs round the next week!! A very nasty and unpleasant shock ...

MBNA are fantastic - no two ways about it! Their staff are friendly and knowledgeable, whilst their website is clear and easy to understand. The only bad move they hav erecently is to align themselves with the 'Sh'Abbey National to produce their credit cards.
