Advantages Advantages Cheap to run, nippy little car, very fuel efficient for its age

Disadvantages Disadvantages Wheel arches have a tendancy to rust, BADLY

I have owned a Metro for several months now and have only had to replace it due to the starter motor failing which would have cost me more to replace than the car was worth. Most of the Metros around now are aged between '88 and '93. My little beauty was a '93 Metro Rio which had 63000 on the clock on purchase for £150. Thats one of the many good points about these cars. Advantages Advantages Turbo power

    Disadvantages Disadvantages 4 gears

It handles magnificantly and very good accelorator. Its a shame there are only 4 gears though but it aint too much of a problem when your burning around. ... more

Advantages Advantages affordable fun, its goning to be a classic like Golf GTI

Disadvantages Disadvantages only 4 gears, rust can be a poblem

You can pick up a MG metro really cheaply nowadays. But although they look sporty and have nice interiors (especially MKIs) the problem with them is security and that is why there expensive to insure so make sure you get one with an imoberliser. Nice shape and MG graphics on the body, very easy to get spares and the A series engine is very easy to repair. Nice car for nipping around town but rattly at motorway speeds. Look for the ones with the high filler caps as these take unleaded petrol, but don't have alloy wheels unlike the MKIs which I think look better aswell. Rust is the main killer ... more
