Advantages: Tiny and weighs nothing Disadvantages: Tiny screen in a none-standard res, bad graphics card
This MSI Wind comes in many different flavours, the version I have is the Advent 4211. A rebadged MSI Wind by PC World.
The MSI Wind is part of a new wave of "SSCs" (Small Cheap Computers). Low powered computers sold cheap. In general they come in two sizes (8" and 10"), most use the with the same hardware under the hood. The current standard is a Intel Atom 1.6GHz, between 512 MB and 1GB of RAM and a Intel 945 graphics adapter. The different brands ... ...the build quality.
The MSI Wind is a on the high end of specifications range, with 1 gig of RAM (upgradeable to 2) and a 10" screen. This provides the tiny little machine with more than enough umpf to do some demanding tasks well above the stated use of web browsing and checking email. I have run some fairly weighty applications and it handles them in its stride. Until I tried a modern game. While the CPU is for its size is impressive the graphics ...

Design and look
Notebook is very handy ... ...Width26 cm Depth18 cm Height3.2 cm and total weight is about 1.1 kg. if we consider its depth than it is not in ultra thin category and this is more than 2cm of Apple's Macbook pro. So the design is similar to other general notebooks but weight is very low with 1.1kg.

Processing speed
Processor is latest with Intel Atom N270 clock speed is 1.6 GHz. This is a new processor from Intel to provide ultra portability feature in notebook and it ...

Advantages: Very Portable, Easy To Use, Good Value For Money, Has A Webcam, Quite Fast Disadvantages: Keys Can Be Hard To Press
...students to office workers. The MSI WIND is a great addition to the large range of notebooks already on the market and is quite possible up there with the best. ''' A little bit about the WIND ''' The WIND was created by Taiwan based company Micro Star International. WIND stands for Wi-Fi Network Device so as you would probably imagine this was not designed for serious gaming. It was designed mainly for surfing the internet and typing up documents ... ...as clustered as other notebooks. MSI have spaced the keyboard out to provide maximum comfort and ease of use. The keys are (obviously) still not as easy to type with as a laptop but you can't really expect that from a notebook. It is fast - The 1.6GHz provides more than enough power to run this little thing effectively, especially when tied with the 1GB of DDR2 RAM. Let me put this in to perspective for the more computer illiterate audience. Basically, ...

Advantages: Small and lightweight with good screen and keyboard size Disadvantages: 3-cell battery only lasts 2 hours so buy one with a 6-cell battery
I bought the MSI Wind U100 in October 2008 whilst on holiday in the US for just $380 and it is one of the best purchases I have made in the last year. I have used it every day since then and have had no problems at all with it. It is extremely portable due to its small size and low weight and does everything I need it to. My primary use for it is surfing the internet and typing up reports. I also make use of the built in card reader to transfer pictures ... ...at a shop alongside the MSI Wind, I found the MSI netbook to be much better due to the larger screen and keyboard. In my opinion it also looks better and seems to be more durable. The only bad thing I can think of about my netbook is that it has a 3-cell battery that only lasts 2 hours. It is definitely worth paying more to get one with a 6-cell battery and this is the only upgrade I might make in the future. With all netbooks such as this one you ...

Advantages: Cheap and easy to use Disadvantages: No optical drive, battery not amazing
...overlooked re-branded version of the MSI Wind.
It is powered by the Intel Atom 1.6GHZ processor and has 1GB RAM as standard which I upgraded to 2GB. My version has the 80GB hard drive which is plenty of space for me. I find the 10.2in monitor just big enough to be comfortable and wouldn't recommend going for any Netbooks with 8in monitors as they would be a little small. It runs a cut down version of XP Home with ease and can cope with most general ... ...drive so I purchased a very cheap CD drive which is fine if the Advent is a secondary laptop. I would recommend buying a more expensive optical drive if you don't have access to another laptop. The biggest problem I had with the Advent was when I crashed it. There is no recovery disc as it has an internal recovery partition. If you buy one don't make my mistake. The very first thing you should do is make a bootable USB recovery device as Advent say ...

Quick review of MSI WIND U100
Very nice notebook. Why I only voted this good...
Firstly, if you plan on using CD/DVD's where you're at, you'll need a portable DVD player, which could be more clutter to carry around with you.
Secondly, the screen size is a down point for me, personally. When I worked on an Excel document, I discovered that the screen doesn't show the whole document, and it actually moves with your mouse if you move to the corners. I guess it would have looked stupid if the notebook actually fitted the document in the small screen area. But I found it a bit frustrating.
Otherwise, also, very robust computer, stylish and eye catching. ...

Advantages: Battery life, Size Disadvantages: Pixels on the screen
I bought my MSI Wind around a year ago, I have since fallen in love with it, bbut come to hate it on occasions! It is brilliant for the creation of Word Documents and is a good way to carry about my Business documents, however in terms of Pure processing power, it falls down flat on its face. The MSI Wind boasts a Dual Core 1.6 GHz processor (which means 2 800Mhz Cores). If the processor wasn't a dual core, I dont think it could even run windows! ... ...in my opinion. However, the MSI Wind has sacrificed the number of pixels to create this smaller screen. The screen is 1024x600. Which means that games that require a minimum of 1024 x 768 etc, will NOT run on the laptops native screen, and thus you will have to plug it into an external monitor. Although on a positive note the notebook is brilliant. No matter what people say, or expect, you are Paying for a notebook, which is designed to be portable ...

Advantages: Bluetooth, Wireless, good batery, Operating system, Card reader, light, Normal keyboard, cheap Disadvantages: Sensitive Touchpad, Delicate Led Panel
...the begining. 1. I bought MSI Wind about 4 month's ago. For first sight it's small, light and convinient. It's rather created for buissnes women. It has own etui and it fits to a medium size handbag. 2. Keyboard is the same as in standard notebooks. 3. Another plus is that it has Microsoft Windows XP or if you prefer Linux. 4.It has a bluetooth, Wireless, card reader, 3 USB, internet camera and microphon 5. Battery hold about 3,5 hours. Top up battery ... ...but it is very delicate. I had one problem with it but i have a gurantee door-to-door and that's why it were repaid in very short time. 7. I like playing mmorpg like LineAge II or world of warcraft and I was affraid that my favorite games could not work in this little thing. But I was in shock that games are working without any problems. 8. Last thing that come in my mind is a Touchpad. I don't like it. It's very sensitive and because of that it's ...
