    Advantages Advantages Great Quality

Disadvantages Disadvantages Two inputs, easily overcome though

Being an aspiring musician and also being interested in the technical and recording side of the music industry, I have recently purchased some home studio recording equipment so that I can record my own tracks at home. M-audio are a well respected manufacturer in the home recording market, and I decided to choose them for my USB audio interface as the DAW (Digital audio workstation) software that I am currently using is affiliated with M-audio products. I’m glad I decided to choose an M-audio product as all of my products by this company have worked exceptionally well been very reliable. The ... more

Advantages Advantages cheap, reliable, portable, easy to use and intuitive

Disadvantages Disadvantages limited ins and outs, not a lot of leeway for input levels

The M-Audio Fast Track Pro is all round a fairly good piece of kit. I originally bought mine as my very first audio/usb interface to use with my Macbook and Logic Pro when I first started university, 2 years ago. I am now in my final year, and have progressed up to using Pro Tools (M-powered, as this is the only version supported by the Fast Track Pro.) Advantages Advantages Easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Without an instruction manual or much online help i had to work out how to use it.

As a beginner to recording, i found the m-audio very easy to use. My fast track pro came without a software cd so i didn't get the ableton live software or any instructions (although i use Logic Pro with it). Even so, i worked out how to set it up and start recording my electric guitar using a lead into the fast track pro and then a vocal mic into the fast track pro so that it could be used on Logic. The quality is pretty decent and with basic experimentation of the buttons on the front it is easy to work out how to change the volume of the signal etc. The green light on eitherside of each ... more

Advantages Advantages Good Starter Kit, Mobile

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor Software

This item is a mobile studio recording unit that can be used with a PC or a Mac via a USB connection, it can record in either 16bit format or the higher 24 bit quality although the difference between the 16bit an 24 bit quality is not huge difference, but a difference all the same. It comes packaged with Ableton Live Lite not the greatest recording software on the market but it does the job, Pro tools or software from cakewalk would be a better option. The sound quality is varied guitars sound fine vocals or voice overs not so great but the unit is light and portable and sturdy and has a nice ... more
