Advantages: It has a nice recipe booklet included Disadvantages: It doesn't make ice cream properly
With the weather being so hot a few weeks ago, what could be nicer than home made ice cream?
I have made ice cream in the past, its quite a long process-you have to heat the cream slowly, then add some ingredients then let the mixture cool before adding other ingredients. Then I had whisked for about 10 mins and put it in the freezer. About an hour later I would whisk the mixture again for about 10 minutes and another hour it would be ready.
An ... ...makes 1.5 pints of delicious ice cream or sorbet in 20 minutes" sounded heavenly.

I was excited to get my box home, its a medium sized box, not too heavy. The machine was packed safely inside fitted polystyrene and there wasn't too much waste.
In addition to the machine there was a guarantee, instructions and a nice surprise, a recipe booklet with delicious ice cream and sorbet suggestions.

Advantages: There are none Disadvantages: Lots of them
...cream maker. I chose Magimix as I have had their food processor for many years and they are (I thought) a tried and tested company, so I bought their 1.5 ltr ice cream maker in good faith. What a mistake!! The machine arrived and not having used one of these machines before, I followed the manufacturers instructions to the letter. You have to mix the ingredients before you make the ice cream, which I suppose is logical with the cheaper version machines ... ...So of course I contacted Magimix customer services and the place I bought it from online. Magimix made the effort to contact me but told me that apparently the bowl was too cold .... FOR AN ICE CREAM MAKER!!! - yes apparently so. So ok, I will try again .....moved the bowl to another drawer (what a struggle) ... but the same thing happened ... if you are lucky you may get one goodish 'go' out of the machine if the bowl is in a good frame of mind ...

Advantages: Haven't found any yet Disadvantages: Cumbersome and inconvenient... you'll see why.
...children, the arrival of our Magimix ice cream maker was a heralded event.
The children stood around me expectantly hoping to see me 'magic' some ice cream out of this contraption. Alas they were going to have to wait. The heavy cumbersome bowl had to be refridgerated for 8HOURS!! When I finally managed to find space in my packed freezer (having sacrificed a pack of frozen peas, a pack of frozen corn cobs and a box of fish fingers!) I squeezed the ... ...' in future, plan a day in advance on the offchance someone in my family is going to fancy some ice cream' (yeah right, are you going to tell my five-year-old?).
The next day my children got up early and stood around me expectantly, again, hoping to taste the delights of this wonderful machine. We prepared the mixture (as per instructions) and poured it as carefully as possible through the very small hole, resulting in a sticky mess running down ...

Advantages: Homemade ice cream is much tastier (and additive free!) than many commercial ice creams. Disadvantages: Getting the bowl at the right temperature is fiddly.
The Magimix Le Glacier 1.1 will easily produce delicious ice cream, though not especially quickly! The bowl must be frozen (in the household freezer) for at least 8 hours, preferably overnight. However, I have found that it is possible to use the bowl, wash it then return it to the freezer while it is still partly frozen. The ice cream mix must then be prepared; based on custard it can be awkward to make it lump-free and, of course, the mixture is ... ...doesn't warm up for 10 minutes then the mixture instantly freezes to the side of the bowl.
The Magimix Le Glacier 1.1 is available from Argos for £34.99 and from Amazon.co.uk for £34.95.
I would recommend this product to other users, but don't expect miraculous instant ice cream! ...

Advantages: Simple to use Disadvantages: A little fiddly to use
This is a basic, small ice-cream maker, suitable for quickly making ice-cream for up to six people (depending on appetite). The bowl has a sealed section containing refrigerant. Keep this in the freezer so that the ice-cream maker is ready for use at any time. If you forget to do this then you will have to wait about 8 hours for your ice-cream!
Placing the mixture in the bowl is the most fiddly bit. You have to start the paddle then pour the mixture ... ...but can be annoying and also means that you should think ahead and mix up your ice-cream in a jug for easy pouring. It is possible to cheat and put the mixture in the bowl before assembling the ice-cream maker.
The ice-cream maker can be a little fiddly to clean, the top mixing section seems to either fall apart or be tricky and messy.
I tend to make quite sloppy yogurt and soft fruit mixtures and the maker has no trouble mixing this and making ...

Quick review of Magimix LE Glacier 1.1LTS 11038/73
I'm pleased somebody else thinks this machine is an utter waste of money.
I followed the instructions to the letter and this is my second attempt at using it and it's still rubbish!!
The Paddle seems very loose it's a fiddle to assemble,After half hours churning as recommended in the instructions the ingredients are still runny not thickened up at all.
After an hours churning the ingredients is still runny and the same consistency as it was from first pouring in.
I'm going back to the store where I bought it from and demanding a refund!!!!!!!!! ...

Advantages: Gives a Recipe Book Disadvantages: Motor is only 15 Watts too weak
I bought this Magimix 1.1 liter ice cream maker for £45 from argos and was very dissapointed. They also sell a 1.5 liter version for more, but not at argos. I started off with making the chocolate chip ice-cream, the blades are plastic so could easily snap, and when the ice cream thing trys to turn, it can't so it just goes back and forwards back and forwards etc. It is too weak.
If that doesn't happen, the chocolate chips get stuck, stopping the ... ...juice, and putting the thing in the freezer and turning it on, what you arn't suppose to do, and making slush puppy, even that it can't do too well.
This product is a rip off and whatever you do do not buy it.
It also takes 12 hours to freeze the ice cream, so thats another con. ...
