Advantages Advantages Refreshing in hot weather, tasty and very drinkable!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Hangovers....The price

I discovered Malibu only a couple of years ago and it has since been my almost sole choice of drink! It has refreshing and original flavour that is very different to that of other alcoholic drinks. Whilst drinking a vodka and coke in a pub at lunchtime (or even better on a hot sunny beach in the Carribean) would give me a slightly sicky headachey feeling, Malibu never, ever does this to me, at least not until the next morning. I'm sure nearly all of us can remember at least one of the Malibu adverts "imagine if us Carribeans took life as seriously as the rest of the world", and then follows a ... more

Advantages Advantages A lovely Coconut drink suitable for any occassion

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

Malibu is one of those drinks that I love but for some reason always forget about or never think to have. I nearly always drink Vodka and diet coke whether its having a drink at home or in the pub, but it occurred to me this Christmas that it had been a few years since I had drank Malibu so I was determined to buy a bottle. A little concerned that the Malibu would not be as good as I remembered it being, I picked up a bottle when I was shopping in my local Tesco. However I need not have worried, trying it on Christmas day first neat and then with Diet Coke it was just as good as I remembered ... more

    Advantages Advantages Tastes nice

Disadvantages Disadvantages Could get you drunk

I am not a serious alcohol drinker, I enjoy drinking sensibly when out with mates or like having a nice glass of wine while having a dinner. One of my favourite drinks is in fact Malibu rum, I find this very easy to drink, not to sweet, it blends well when mixed and smells gorgeous!! PRODUCT DESCRIPTION & PACKAGING ********** The colour of the Malibu product is transparent with the same consistency of water, the difference with water is that this has a lovely smell of coconut. If you taste it by itself you can certainly feel a hint of alcohol, accompanied by the taste of coconut, the fruity ... more

Advantages Advantages Light and easy to drink, tastes and smells great

Disadvantages Disadvantages Fuzzy head when you have too much

I lay there with my eyes closed, listening to the water gently lapping against the sides of the pool, feeling the warmth of the sun on my face. A fresh light breeze blew across the deserted bay, gently rustling the leaves of the palm trees. Dak handed me an icy cold Pina Colada with fresh whipped cream and raspberry sauce on top, and planted a kiss gently on my forehead. I took a luxurious sip of the creamy decadence through the straw and a contented sigh escaped my lips like a whisper. Heaven. Suddenly, there was a bang. 'Are you going to be much longer? I need the loo.' I opened my eyes and ... more

Advantages Advantages Unique drink, Very versatile and very commondly used in cocktails, Can have a lot of it

Disadvantages Disadvantages As with all alcohol it must be drunk in moderation

The Palm Trees and The Setting Sun is what is depicted on each bottle of Malibu Rum and is a vision very much in line with the flavour and meaning of this drink. Malibu Rum is so unlike any other. It is a sweet, coconut flavoured Caribbean white rum that is either served neat, on the rocks or mixed with fruit juices or in a cocktail. Malibu is produced in Barbados, The Caribbean Islands since 1980. Over that period of time it has earned a reputation as a carefree and spontaneous drink, or so they say. I however tend to agree with this totally. Since the last twenty years more than 300 million ... more

    Advantages Advantages Lovely!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Er, none?!

Ok, starting off with the basics, Malibu is a clear coconut flavoured rum, so if for some reason or another you dislike either coconut or white rum, I wouldn't suggest that you try this product! I love malibu, it's up there with my favourite spirits (ok, it's joined by quite a few others...). It doesn't sound particularly versatile, having a flavour as strong as coconut in it, but I assure you it is. Malibu is great in loads of cocktails, and equally nice served alone with a mixer. It tastes great with coke, pineapple juice, orange juice or cranberry juice. It's also absolutely to die for in a ... more

Advantages Advantages Yummy and easy to drink...

Disadvantages Disadvantages ...maybe too easy to get tipsy on as too easy to drink!

MALIBU ------------ Malibu is rum made in Barbados (bottled in Scotland) from natural coconut extract. The first Malibu was served up in 1985 so it's as old as I am. It contains 21% alcohol and is quite potent when drunk in large quantities. ;-) I first drank Malibu when my mum had a glass, I loved the coconut smell and quite fancied it. She had mixed it with pineapple juice and it tasted very exotic. She also makes a Malibu cheesecake which is absolutely fantastic. So really I am hooked. When I go out I always opt for a 'Pina Colada' or something else with Malibu in. THE BOTTLE ... more

Advantages Advantages Smells and tastes great

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not good if you don't like coconut!

It seems a little early in the day to be writing a review of a spirit, but I can assure you that I'm only writing the review at nine in the morning and not drinking the 20% alcohol by volume Malibu rum that is sitting in front of me. I am no longer a student and so those Malibu fuelled days of drinking around the clock (in my case, it wasn't just a stereotype) are long behind me. I don't drink Malibu like I used to (all the time, see above!), I have matured into wine now. But I still always have a bottle on the wine rack of all places. For those unfamiliar with the spirit, it comes in a white ... more

Advantages Advantages tastes not too much of alcohol when mixed, exotic flavour, good for cocktails

    Disadvantages Disadvantages more expensive

I am not particularly an alcoholic or anything but Malibu and Coke is my favourite tipple! When I just turned 18 and started hitting the club/pub/bar scene I of course experimented with many mixtures of drinks I saw people drinking on TV like Vodka & Lemonade, or Gin & Tonic (absolutely bleurgh!) but after hearing my mum order Malibu and Coke and tasting it I was in love! Malibu is a caribbean rum originally used to simplify the making of Piña Coladas by bartenders! It has now expanded and is popular as a mixer in the commercial market. It comes in a white bottle, with a wide base, which goes ... more

    Advantages Advantages cocnut

    Disadvantages Disadvantages -

This drink is yet another I always have a bottle of stored in my cupboard, the lovely Malibu Rum. Everything on the bottle describes how the drink tastes, if that makes sense, the relaxing picture is just the way the drink makes you feel and reminds you of being on a desert island, even if you haven't been there. TASTE The taste of this lovely Rum is a very sweet cocnut flavour with a hint of ru. When you drink this the sweet taste fills your mouth and then the rum hits you and lingers. This might not be be to everyone's taste but everyone will like this if you like Bacardi. Malibu is produced ... more
