...Eventually we went to Mamas and Papas which we had visited before but never actually purchased anything from. We had always been put off by the prices of their items but we decided to give it a chance for the christening outfit.
The store is very bare, it's not like when you go in mothercare and the shop floor is cramped with rails of clothes and a huge selection of kids toys that have been well and truly tested whilst on display. The clothes and ... ...for her christening gown from Mamas and Papas 6-9 months fitted her just fine. The staff were more than helpful and polite and I couldn't fault them at all. Expense wise I think this store is extremely expensive compared to other baby stores. I think you pay for the name as far as this store is concerned. I would much rather spend my money on more clothes for Baby B instead of just on one item of clothing from mamas and papas. I recommend this store ...

Advantages: Great toys mainly aimed at young babies Disadvantages: Very expensive
We have a Mama's and Papa's store which opened recently in my home town (Basingstoke, Hampshire). It is one of 20 stores in the UK.
They sell a range of products for babies and mum's-to-be. The range includes maternity wear, nursery furniture and furnishings, clothes, buggies and prams, carseats and toys. This opinion is about their range of toys.
They seem to have two distinct ranges of toys. One range is very bright and colourful and the other ... ...neutral, i mean materials such as soft cottons and sheepskin in neutral colours such as cream and "teddy bear brown". They sell old fashioned teddy bears in this range made of the most desirable soft fur. I bought a large light brown one for my 10 month old daughter, simply because I could imagine her getting older and wanting to drag it by the leg behind her, everywhere she went. Its a range of toys which would look perfect in a sumptuous nursery ...

...aimless wandering around Mothercare and Mamas and Papas we realised the error of our ways, there seems to be no end to the stuff that babies need and this is before you get to the stuff that you want to buy that they could probably do without. We spent a horrendous amount in Mamas and Papas whilst Scarlett was still a bump!
Mamas and Papas always seems to me to be like the ‘designer’ shop of the baby world. Whilst Mothercare is practical and quite ... ...I think that’s the image Mamas and papas likes to sell, buy their stuff and you will have the perfect everything, but than that’s advertising for you!
So what does it sell? It’s range is extensive although not quite as extensive as Mothercare.
BABY CLOTHES
Their baby clothes range is small. The key colour seems to be beige or white clothes with small discreet designs. There are a few blue and pink items, but not many. The prices range from about ...

Advantages: Light - Pushes like a dream Disadvantages: Uncomfortable, can Be dangerous as it tips over if you run!
I really loved the look of this buggy, So decided to purchase it for my daughter who was 6 months old at the time. My daughter liked it alot. She loved the free style pram straps which allowed her to choose to sit right up or lie down. It wasn't very comfortable though when she had a nap as the straps meant she'd wobble around alot and her head would always be twilted so, she always woke up with a sore neck, Also it's not very padded at all. The ... ...that, it seems to loose it's strength and just doesn't look very appealing, begins to look old and tatty. The raincover was awful, It was such a tight fit, and was made of such a hard plastic that I couldn't reshape it. I purchased a lovely Tulip liner for the buggy hoping it would be more comfortable but it wasn't as it just made the straps feel much tighter and would just annoy my daughter by folding it's self all the time! I've recently had to ...

Quick review of Mamas & Papas
Huge range of nursery furniture and toys. Good quality. However, in store and online the customer service really lets them down. Very unhelpful and I had so many problems ordering online from them. They gave the impression every time that they really couldn't care less. ...

Advantages: NIce colour Disadvantages: Poor quality and appauling customer service
I purchased the Luna pushchair in tulip on 17/07/08. The pushchair is no good for a newborn unless you purchase expensive liners. The raincovers are ill fitting and ripped within a month. The shop said this is general wear and tear. The pram then snapped when 6 months old and had to be handed in for repair which is going to take weeks. I have been given a replacement which is a different model and inadequate for my daughter. Due to the bad weather ... ...pram. The pram is nice to push but when in comes to folding it is awkward and heavy. The top of the pram scraped off the ground. The customer service is appauling. It took me 2 days to get through to customer care. I eventually held on for 47 min to get through. The woman i spoke to advised me to hand it into shop. The shop assistants attitude was appauling even insinuating that i would steal the raincover from the replacement. She was patronising ...
