Advantages Advantages Everything! Great cast, great musical numbers, very funny

Disadvantages Disadvantages Pierce Brosnan's vocals could have been better, but nothing really!

You've undoubtedly seen the adverts on the television, heard about it on the radio or noticed the posters that adorn many a roadside billboard. Perhaps you've seen the title of the film - Mamma Mia! - and immediately dismissed it: a musical based on ABBA's songs? It couldn't be anything but naff, right? Wrong. Mamma Mia! is a heartwarming, rip-roaring success of a film, based on the highly-acclaimed West End musical of the same name. Since the film's release on the 10th July 2008, Mamma Mia! has had huge success at the Box Office, heading straight to number one and knocking Hancock into second ... more

Advantages Advantages Funny , Entertaining , Full Of Energy

Disadvantages Disadvantages Pierce Brosnans' Singing - Otherwise None!

When I saw Mamma Mia! advertising on the television a couple of weeks back , I instantly knew it was going to be a film I loved. I went to see the film a few days after it's release at my local cineworld. I was glad I hadn't chosen to go on the day of it's release , as my cousin who had gone to see it a day after it's release said that there were so many people wanting to see it that they couldn't let everyone in. I had planned on going to see this film , however usually when I want to see a film I think 'yeah I'll go and see that' however I never actually get round to it , and wait until it ... more

    Advantages Advantages Acting/ Scenery/ Direction/ Vocals

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some may find predictable/ Plot a little thin/ Amanda Seyfrieds part could have been better casted

Released 10 July 2008 Comedy/ Musical/ Romance Rated PG 108 minutes. Starring: Amanda Seyfried (Mean Girls)/ Stellan Starsgaard (Ronin, Pirates of the Caribbean)/ Pierce Brosnan (Die Another Day, Goldeneye)/ Colin Firth (Bridget Jones Diary, Love Actually)/ Meryl Streep (The Devil Wears Prada, The Hours)/ Julie Walters (Calendar Girls/ Billy Elliot). I saw the trailor for this when I went to see 'The Dark Knight' a few weeks ago and my fiance said how she would love to see it. Advantages Advantages Great feel good film.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some not great vocals

What happens when some of the Hollywood's greatest stars join together with some cool poppy tunes in their heads, on some Greek island out at sea? Mama Mia is born! It was this year's biggest summer hit and a revival for ABBA fans everywhere. It first showed in June and hasn't stopped showing until recently, with special sing-along shows even released. It has taken £363,583,668 as of 15th December and is the most successful British film of all time. It was based on the original stage musical written by Catherine Johnson. The music was composed by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus who were part ... more

Advantages Advantages Happy, uplifting, enjoyable, uncomplicated, funny, touching

Disadvantages Disadvantages If you dislike abba or musicals this is not for you

Have just got back from the cinema having watched this fantastically uplifting and enjoyable film. I have put it off for a while as I was really a bit concerned about Meryl Streep and Colin Firth bursting into abba songs every 5 minutes, but had promised my mum I would go, so bit the bullet and I am so glad that I did! The story is told a number of times in different reviews on here, so I won't go over it again. The whole cast portray believable and likeable characters, but the star for me was definitely Julie Walters. She gives a brilliant performance and gives the impression that she had the ... more

    Advantages Advantages Funny, exciting

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

What can i say, this has by far been the best film i have seen in a very long time, refreshing and fun. The storyline is very good, and the songs fit it well with the storyline. I enjoyed it so much i have been three times, enjoying each time like the first. It was good to see audience participation, singing and getting up and clapping at the end, which was good. Meryl streep was fantastic as the mother, a role which she suited. The songs were so so cheesy, but fun at the same time. I was a bit dubious on how it would work with a singing Colin and Pierce, but they actually sung well. Julie ... more

Advantages Advantages Fantastic revival of an olden goldie.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages A little overperformed.

The superb sight of Meryl Streep singing "Dancing Queen" is the pinancle of Mamma Mia!, the film is based on the musical which features songs of the famous group ABBA. The story is based around Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) the daughter of Donna (Meryl Streep), sending a wedding invitation to three men who she believes one of them to be her father. After the trio arrive, Streep is ridden with panic to find out that her past love life is to be revived all at once. Though the story is based around the fantastic Amanda Seyfried, the story really revolves around the performance of Meryl Streep and the ... more
