Mango tastes good to me so far

AdvantagesGood special offers

DisadvantagesPostage and packing expensive on cheaper books

"...one or two reviews slating Mango Book Club, so it seems only fair that I say that my experience of them has been without problems so far. Not the best of starts, as my introductory book was left in my dustbin - it was a relatively new one and had been emptied that morning, but even so I didn't find that acceptable. However, that was the fault of the delivery company rather than Mango. I didn't actually want that particular book, so I listed it ..." Read review

AdvantagesSome cheaper books

Disadvantagescheaper books elsewhere and long delivery

"...get a friend to join mango by offering you a free book. Commitment - well when I joined you had to buy 4 or 5 (I can't remember if it was four or five - sorry) books in your first year. After that you didn't have to buy ever again if you didn't want to. Great I thought, 4 (Or 5!) in one year is not so bad. I don't think I'll have a problem with that. And admittedly I didn't have a problem fulfilling my commitment to the club. To be honest I ..." Read review

Frothy fun lacking a competitive edge

AdvantagesGood choice of contemporary and 'trendy' female fiction

DisadvantagesSlow delivery, not as good as the internet rivals

"...have already joined another. Mango has a specific target audience for its books – young women. The types of books that it offers certainly have a limited appeal – I can’t imagine many of the males on here being particularly interested! As the name of the club suggests when you break it down into two words – “man….go” – it’s really just suited to female readers. Many of the books offered are ..." Read review

Very Juicy Books Here

Advantagesno pressure to purchase

Disadvantagesnone

"Mango are a book club, I first heard of them when I used to go on websites and see their banners telling me how I could get a free gift for joining, as I am up for all free things I decided to log onto www.mango.co.uk and have a look at what they were offering, as I am not a huge book club fan and don't read much. I looked around the website then on the join section it said what you could do at the time I was joining, well when I finally got round ..." Read review

Fruity Fun

Advantagescheap, good offers, convienient.

Disadvantagessometimes slow delivery

"...other books you don’t want. Mango do provide a service of sending you a label to send goods back but they’ll add a charge of £2.50 to your account so you wont actually be paying for postage when you send it but on your next invoice. At times, usually every other month for me, you get sent other brochures tempting you to books from their other clubs, such as mind, spirit and body, thrillers club, or just their normal worldbooks brochure. ..." Contemporary Club for Contemporary Chicks

AdvantagesBeats going to the bookshop!

DisadvantagesThey demand payment before you can re-order (not a bad thing l suppose!)

"I joined Mango approximately 2 years ago (I think) having previously been a member of World Books - which l found to heavy and really only dealt in hard backed books. I found Mango by chance really - a leaflet fell out of a magazine. As a sucker for gimmicks and junk mail - l read it and thought is sounded appealing. Paper backed books a cut price, delivered to your door - excellent. The novels range from the top ten best sellers in the UK, to Contemporary ..." Read review

Bargain Books

Advantagesdo bargains, plenty of books to choose from

Disadvantagesdelivery charge,

"Mango is a book club for women. I first heard about them when I got a leaflet through the door. I decided to join as I love reading books and they were doing an offer of buy 5 books for 99p. The books you will find in the Mango catalogue are usually:- Romance Horror Biographies They send you a catalogue once a month, so you can see if there are any books that you would like. You do not have to buy from every catalogue either. They do not ..." Read review

A book club for ladies

AdvantagesA way to expand your library - on the cheap!

DisadvantagesBooks are mainly fun and female – definitely not recommended for ‘wider’ tastes.

"...too good to miss) and Mango was the first one I joined. Talking currently, the opening deal with Mango (as going right to press) is that you can take advantage of 5 books for just 50p each (you also get a free book – again currently this is The Boy Next Door by Josie Lloyd and Emlyn Rees), from then on, as part of your membership entitlement, you are obligated to buy a further 5 books in your first year of membership (all books are up to ..." keep the titles coming..

Advantagescheap lots of titles to choose from

Disadvantageswaiting

"...switched on my pc. Now mango has an internet site which is great for people like me who know what authors they like and don't like - you just click on what you want. Quite often there is a little snipet of what the book actually entails. I know that they often have the newer books that i enjoy a lot cheaper than i could get in town as i buy them as a package. Mango has always been at the end of a phone line for me and not with premium rate calls ..." Read review

Not as great a bargain as theyd have you believe

AdvantagesGood selection, easy to use website

DisadvantagesSlow delivery, appaling customer services

"Ive been a member of Mango for several years now and am a chicklit addict. Its just my kind of books. The books themselves are great, the club less and less so. The books dont seem the same bargain they used to be, delivery is a lot slower and as for Customer Services dont get me started! However if these are your kind of books and you fancy getting the newest releases delivered to your door then you might want to take a look. Joining is ..." Read review

Mango Bookclub

Advantagesbooks to your door! good joining offers

Disadvantagesnot massive range of choice

"I joined mango for one reason - to get the free books you get when you join, i picked some great books (and the most expensive ones) and sold them on ebay, i think the joining offer was 5 books for a pound or something, plus p & p which took it up to about four pounds. With mango you get a catalogue every month with their best picks, what you get varies every month and the range isnt massive, they have a wide range of genres but not alot of books ..." Read review

GIVE THEM A TRY

AdvantagesGood Selection, Price

DisadvantagesThe length of time it takes to get the books

"...compares quite as favourably as Mango if you like reading modern fiction and novels. I was introduced to them through a leaflet in a magazine. It was 5 books for a fiver plus £2.95 P&P. As I read a lot and a lot of my favourite authors had new books out that I could order, I decided to give them a try. The books arrived within about 10 days, by courier, in a well packaged box. They were in excellent condition, some paperback, some club-edition ..." Read review

Wish I'd never taken a bite of this Mango

AdvantagesLots of Chick-lit

DisadvantagesLots of Chick-lit

"...got locked into membership of Mango - a Book Club aimed at (mainly young) women. I enjoy reading, I really do, but Mango isn't the right Book Club for me - I'm much more "old git lit" than "Chick-lit". Mango specialises in the sort of "frothy" girlie books with eye-catching covers that don't deliver much of a story and are instantly forgettable. They mainly deal with all the usual stuff: sex/love/marriage/babies/divorce or variations on these ..." Read review

Not a good choice for the book lover

AdvantagesOffers on books

Disadvantagescost of books, postage, customer service

"I joined Mango after one of their great introductory offer. As I bought a lot of books, I saw a book club as a good way of buying the books at a discounted rate, as on paper mango looked like a good idea. I got 2 free books and £15 worth of vouchers for an introductory offer, and shortly afterwards, more books arrived that I hadnít ordered. This was the 2 books that you're sent monthly unless you opt out. This was sent before I had the chance to ..." Read review

Book Worm

AdvantagesGreat bargains

Disadvantagesnone

"...came across this book club mango i thought i would give it a try, sounded simple enough to become a member and at the time all 5 books that i wanted were £1 each which was a massive saving of abour £50 for me. Mango asks that you buy a least 6 books a year which is relativley simple to do if you like books as much as i do. They have all the lastest titles avaliable, most of which are usually a pund or two cheaper than in high street stores, they ..." Read review
