Advantages: Future proofed and powerfull, with a touch of class Disadvantages: Expensive, a bit tempremental when it comes to HDMI switching
I spent a long time researching before I purchased this. Firstly, I would admit that I am a little biased. I am loyal to Marantz, after owning, as well as my family owning a few components. I have owned 'high end' Sony and Kenwood in the past though and they just don't compare, but then... neither does the price!
It looks fantastic and sounds even better. I have spared no expense in my AV setup that this receiver is the centre of. It is hard however, ... ...due to the speakers or the receiver. I'm sure it's both.
I listen to it through Focal JMLab 800V series speakers and Chord Odyssey cabling with Van Den Hul Interconnects. The clarity and control is evident regardless of the volume. It is very easy to work with, the on-screen display is excellent, this receiver can even run systems in several rooms including a DC trigger to turn on other amps!
