I have now owned Mario Kart 64 for about a month, in this time I have become quite addicted to this platform inspired racer. Its mixture of smooth gameplay and challenges keeps me (and my mates) coming back for more. ***Packaging*** Well mine was fairly bashed about, as I bought it pre-owned (more on that later). ...for it, the original Super Mario Kart on the SNES had been an extremely addictive game and one of the best games I had ever played. I didn't buy an N64 though and instead waited a while and played the game on someone elses console.

Mario Kart 64 is a remake of Super Mario Kart for the SNES, it tries to improve just about everything about the game from the graphics to the weapons to the playability but ends up making a number of ... ...that you select a Mario character who is then put into a racing kart, you have to race these around tracks using a variety of weapons and powerups to try and prevent your opponents from winning rather than having to rely on racing skill alone. The game goes a lot more for fun than for realism and the game really is a lot of fun.

Super Mario Kart was a game first released way back on the SNES. It's popularity back then was one reason that the SNES did so well. However, since then Nintendo have lost some of the stranglehold that they had on the console game market due to the playstation, better PC's, and so forth. Therefore it was no big surprise when they decided to re-release Super Mario Kart on the ailing N64 console.
At the time this game cost around the £40 mark, however, ... ...The single player mode of Mario Kart is actually quite fun. Their are four different cups, Mushroom, Flower, Star and Special. Each cup contains 4 tracks. Therefore there are 16 tracks to try out. In addition to this their are initially 3 different Kart speeds to master 50cc 100cc and 150cc. Hyped up with super smooth graphics, sound effects and Grand Prix tracks, this game somewhat succeeded at its grab for glory. Those out there that remember the golden oldie that was Super Mario Kart (SMK) would not disappointed with the modern version. The original SMK offered something nothing seen before. All racing games before it that had enjoyed minor success were ‘serious’ ... ...the world of Nintendo and Mario combined with lawn mower racing!!
Like in the original in normal gameplay mode, there are cups for you to race in, in each cup there are 4 races. To win the cup you have to have the most point at the end of the fourth race. Not only that but in order to progress to the next track in the cup you must finish within the top 4 racers. (Not that hard but becomes harder on the harder difficultly settings)

Advantages: Great all the time, especially with three of your mates! Cool tracks, graphics, characters and modes. The graphics, sound, lifespan and gamepley are all fantastic. What a laugh! Disadvantages: Very very very slight pop-up
...if you haven't heard of Mario Kart on the SNES or Mario Kart 64 on the N64, then go back to that stone you somehow crawled out from under! If you have, then the differences between the two is that Mario Kart 64 is bigger, better and an overall cooler game. The N64 version now costs about £30, depending on where you buy it.
Mario Kart 64 is one of those games that you want to slag off because it's so good. Well, I can't even moan about any one particular ... ...really use the word 'majestic'!)
Mario Raceway: Seriously tight bends, plenty of grass cutting on this course. There's also red shrubs that sometimes suck you in, chew you about, and then spit you out.
Star Cup:
Wario Stadium: My favourite! Top course in both single and multi-play. A huge, bumpy, windy mud-fest, with an enormous jump just to put icing on the cake.

Along to play with and against Mario are seven of his best pals, Luigi, Toad, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Wario and Bowser. Each of the racers sport various strengths and suffer from different weaknesses. Small, light characters such as Toad and Yoshi are quick and agile, whilst larger characters such as Bowser are slow and often difficult to control, but when reaching high ... ...an expert.
In the Mario GP mode, there are four cups to win as prizes for beating the other players who mainly consist of computer racers. When attempting to win a cup, you are required to race through four courses gaining a respectable number of points in each. Great determination and dedication is needed to complete the mode.

...beyond will agree that Super Mario Kart on the SNES was an all-time classic. No disputes there then. So when Nintendo announced the sequel to the game on the N64, gamers were gasping for more of the same. It had a lot to live up to. Did it live up to expectations?
Come on this is Nintendo we're talking about! Of course it did. The general premise for the game remains mostly unchanged from it's SNES predecessor, race around 3 laps (it used to be ... ...The main difference between Super Mario Kart and other traditional racers is the ability to pick up and use items during the race. These items range from missiles (in the form of shells) and obstacles(such as banan skins) to stealing other people's items (ghost) or becoming invincible (star) as well as others. These are all detailed in the instruction manual and are all very easy to use. Items are present in Championship mode, Vs mode and Battle ...

Mario kart is a battle/racing game made by nintendo for the n64 back in 1997. They originally released it on the snes so when i saw the n64 version in my shop i had to buy it.
Mario kart has several game modes including Tournament cup, Time trial and multiplayer which are all very very playable and addictive no matter how many times you play.
The main single player feature is the cup. Here you can select different CC races out of 50,100 and 150 ... ...on the snes graphics. You still have the same view however everything is more 3d and a lot clearer.
Nintendo have done an excellent job with mario kart 64. It has to be the best nintendo game ever and possibly one of the best racing games ever. purely amazing. ...

Mario Kart 64 was my first game and it was a decent first purchase. This animated car racing game is a perfect starter for young gamers. The object of the one player game is to complete one of four cups with four races in each. To move on to the next level, you have to come in the top four of the 8 racers in the race you are doing. This is the main part of the game. The other option you can go on is time trials where you can pick a character and ... ...all from the very popular Mario games from the original Nintendo console, Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 consoles. The characters listed above are in order. Toad, Yoshi and Peach are the fastest players in the game, Wario, DK and Bowser are slightly slower but very strong so ramming into little Toad is always fun. Mario and Luigi, although not very strong or very fast are not weak on either speed or strength.

...people with stuff is fun. Mario Kart 64 has combined these two and has made a very fun game indeed. Mario Kart was originally a game on the SNES, one of the standout games that really sold the console. It will never be bettered, not even by Mario Kart 64. It’s just too original and unbelievably addictive, one of those games where one more go becomes a three-hour session. Mario Kart is original in its own right though, but it just doesn’t ... ...So here’s the deal, you and seven other competitors race around sixteen lovely 3D courses. Every time you go into a box with a question mark on it you get some sort of weapon. These weapons range from a lightning strike which every except you reduce significantly in size for a brief period, leaving them ripe to be driven over and squashed. Very simple indeed.
The characters are the standard Nintendo guys, Mario, Luigi Toad, Peach, Wario, Yoishi, ...

Unless you either weren’t born yet or didn’t pay attention a few years back there was a little game released called Mario Kart. This game just happened to be one of the best games on the SNES due to the excellent game play and the brilliance of the game as a whole. As with all Nintendo games the characters are instantly recognisable ... ...heavy characters vice versa. Again Mario and Luigi are intermediates.
Basically the game revolves a lot around the use of weapons so if your looking for a serious racer this isn’t for you. Races consist of 8 racers including you, you must come 4th or better to progress to the next stage. After 4 races whoever has the most points wins the gold trophy. ...impressed and somewhat addicted to Mario Kart on the Snes, and despite what numerous people seem to think, MK64 is ahead of its ancestor by quite a few laps.
The graphics now don't look so hot, and handling at first, for me at least was finnicky and annoying. But that was in the shop, and I had about 10 people standing behind me waiting to have a go.
When I bought a copy however for myself, I certainly did not regret it. You get a choice of 8 racers, ... ...all have their own sound effects and neat animations, and it is possible with perserverance to win with any of the racers. There are 4 cups to race in, each with varying difficulty of tracks, and their are 3 cups in every cup to win. Only when you have won the first nine cups can you open the last course, and enter courses such as the mind bendingly seven minute long pyschadelia of rainbow road. This game is one of the best racing games on the N64 ...

Mario Kart 64 was one of the original launch titles for the N64 platform, which goes to show how old it is - it's approaching its fifth birthday if I'm not mistaken. A logical development of the original Super Mario Kart for the SNES, MarKar64 takes the original game and befs it up for the more powerful N64 console.
You choose to race either against 7computer-controlled opponents in a 4-race cup compettion, or against the ... ...the 8 characters from the Mario games that are available, ranging from Toad (light, corners well, can be pushed about a bit), to Bowser (hefty, sluggish, bulldozes everyone). I find Yoshi to be the best character to drive as a balance between weight and manoeverability, but you might find another character suits your style better.
