Advantages Advantages Great multiplayer and online game, decent graphics

Disadvantages Disadvantages Single player does become a little tedious

When I was growing up one of my favourite games on the Nintendo 64 was Mario Kart. In fact I used to love all of the Super Mario games but Mario Kart combined my love of Mario with my addiction to driving games. It was a fun game to play with friends as not only was the goal to win the race but also to slow down your opponents as much as possible. So not long after buying myself a Wii, I was delighted to hear that a version of Mario Kart was to be released for Nintendo’s new console and not only that but that it would come with a plastic wheel to hold the remote. An Updated Concept With the ... more

Advantages Advantages Fun game, great multiplayer, good controls and wheel

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No

Nintendo games are always great for nostalgia. Every Zelda game that comes out, for example, reminds me of how much I loved Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask on the N64, just as every Super Mario game reminds me of Super Mario 64. Mario Kart is another franchise that always brings back memories of sitting playing racing games with friends and families on cold days and weekends. Mario Kart 64 was always the best racing game I had as a child, as its mix of cute characters and humour made it better than your average car game. I also remember enjoying the Gamecube version as being a really good ... more

Advantages Advantages A great blend of old and new, some nice graphical touches, wonderful controls

Disadvantages Disadvantages Power-ups can be irritating.

A brief infatuation with Daytona USA aside, I've never much been into racing games. They just don't interest me. A million models of hyper-realistic car? Meh - but give me racetracks in shopping malls, jumps over lava pits and wandering penguins to dodge around, and you've piqued my interest. The absurd, relentlessly entertaining, occasionally painfully irritating Mario Kart franchise came to the Wii in 2008, and for my money it's never been better - the console's motion-sensing technology is what the game's been waiting for, and it's wonderfully realised here. The franchise has been around ... more

Advantages Advantages Appeals to all ages, Fun tracks, colourful game

Disadvantages Disadvantages Does repeat some tracks from previous games(eg N64)

MarioKart Wii has introduced a whole new gaming style to the MarioKart collection. The ability to use the wii remote as a steering wheel gives the illusion of driving a 'real car', but gameplay is not limited to this one control style, for gamers wanting a little old school touch, a gamecube controller can be used, or you can also make use of (my personal favourite and perhaps a little easier than using the steering wheel) the wii remote and nunchuck. The controls themselves are easy to get the hang of. The levels themselves are colourful (as with all newer mario games), and have interesting ... more

Advantages Advantages Massive 4 player fun, Great online play supports a guest, a lot of tracks and characters

Disadvantages Disadvantages Suffers from the occasional hacker online.

Mario Kart has pretty much cornered its market since day one, the newest release of the series is no different. With the new technology of the Wii, it makes driving in Mario Kart even more fun. The Wii Wheel allows you to control the kart like a real car. Although i personally prefer the Wiimote/Nunchuk combo. Now where do i start, this game has so many good features about it, i think i'll start with the multiplayer aspect of the game. MK:Wii supports up to 4 players offline, and with the new 12 driver races this means you can have 4 players and 8 AI drivers, having AI in 3/4 player races is a ... more

    Advantages Advantages fun motion sensitive

Disadvantages Disadvantages only 4 players and cheaters online

This is really good game as the motion sensitive controls mean that its like actually driving which is great for young kids as they feel grown up and has a family friendly competitive edge. Good online abilities but people do cheat on it making it not as good. I like the game as theres loads of characters and cars making it a unique experience and unique to everyone. It also doesn't require just the wii remote you can use other controls that don't use the motion senors but are more classic styles like the remote and the nunchuk or you could use the game cube controller instead. However some ... more
