Party, Mario Style!

Advantages: Fun games, cute graphics, good variety of characters
Disadvantages: Doesn't use the wii remote quite as much as it could

...long time fan of the Mario Party series, I was looking forward to playing the Wii's first attempt at continuing the games. After an extremely long wait with Nintendo continually pushing the release date back, it's finally available. If you've never played a Mario Party game, the concept is quite simple. It is basically a board game, where the idea is to collect as many stars as possible. You can play with up to four friends as different Mario characters ...
...If you've never played any Mario related games at all, that shouldn't put you off buying this game. Characters don't really have any advantages depending on which one you choose, and none of them have any special skills. It's basically a case of which you find the cutest, or whether you'd find it more appealing being a ghost or a dinosaur! There is a lot of candy in this game. Candy's can be gained from walking through certain places, from stealing ...

The Perfect Party for any Player!

Advantages: Hilarious in Multiplayer, New ways to play
Disadvantages: Can get tedious in single player, Wii remote could be used better

...to be an epic game. Mario Party 8 attempts at once again taking the boredom out of board games and giving a fun twist on the traditional roll the dice and move spaces style of games. It entertains and infuriates, but can only be regarded as fun for everyone. Whilst former games have been good, they have gotten slightly repetitive with similar styles of play using the controller. Of course, the Wii remote solves this, and has been put to use in many ...
...frankly is the most annoying Mario character I’ve ever seen. He also makes these stupid noises which make you want to shove that microphone he carries down his throat. Of course, he doesn’t affect the entire game, but I do really wish he’d crawl back into the cave from where he came from and never return. The basic idea of the game is very similar to games such as Monopoly, in which you roll a dice to see how many spaces you move. Your counter (or ...

Improvements needed.

Advantages: for a party
Disadvantages: graphics, set up.

...bundle. I didn't think Mario Party 8 good. The game is relaxing, its one of those games where you can just sit back and relax on the couch. It is better enjoyed with friends or family. Playing the game alone is really boring and it probably is more playable and enjoyable when with 3 or 4 friends. The mini-games are only amusing when you can laugh and joke with others, reveling in the spirit of competition. The thing making these games different ...
...of the controls. Previous Mario Party games have had really brilliant mini-games to choose from, but many of those in this installment seem uninspired. Most of the games need the basic Wii remote movements, like the target-shooting games, other ones rely on sideways movement. The game bored is very interesting and unique. I liked when you land on the donkey Kong place the mini-games are fun and are different. There are many games in this collection, ...

Advantages: Lots of mini games, very fun, good multiplayer
Disadvantages: Poor single player, annoying controls sometimes

...who organises all these parties Mario keeps having but it must be expensive, especially now we are on the eight incarnation. But don't let that put you off. This game has plenty of fun for any party, and is a lot easier to clean up, trust me! For those who are knew to Mario Party games you're probably wondering what they're all about. Well, a bunch of Mario characters are thrown into a contest which is essentially a board game, with loads of mini ...
...choose your characters from different Mario characters. And so you must race to your goal as quickly as possible to collect stars, or to do another task presented to you. This process is sped up a lot from previous Mario Party games so you're not left waiting with other players turns. On top of this there are power ups and bonus mini games for you to use to help you claim victory whether you steal other players coins as a vampire, or spring to where ...

Mario Party 8

Advantages: Can be enjoyed with friends
Disadvantages: you have to own more than one controller

Mario Party 8 is a family-friendly, fun game. This game is quite simple, it is basically a board game, you roll a dice, you take your moves and the idea is to collect as many stars as possible. After each person has had one move on the board, a mini game is played. Before the game begins you have to select your character, choose how many turns you want the game to run for, choose the level of difficulty and decide which board you want to play on. ...
...different Mario characters. There are 14 characters for you to choose from. These include Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Waluigi, Wario, Toad, Toadette, Boo, Yoshi, Dry Bones, and Birdo. It makes no difference to the game which character you choose as they do not have any special skills or individual abilities. There are several different boards to choose from that you can play on and some are harder than others. Some boards emphasize covering distance, ...

Mario party 8 (wii) A party for the whole family

Advantages: fun for all ages, exciting mini-games
Disadvantages: Boards can get repetitive

This game is fun from all the family with tons of great little mini-games where you can play against eachother or play fun new exciting full length board games that'll keep you occupied for hours, either way they will definitely bring out you're competitive streak. Be the first of you're family to travel round the board collecting as many stars and coins as possible, and defeating them in battle and mini-games throughout. Have a look around the 5 ...
...this game seeming a little bit childish, I in fact found it to be lots of fun especially playing the mini-games where you have to use the controller as a driving-wheel, sponge, can of fizzy drink and loads more, there is also a wide selection of characters and many different candies that'll make the boards more exciting! ...

Mario Party 6.5

Advantages: Fun minigames, great for multiplayer.
Disadvantages: Annoying controls, too much luck needed.

The 8th(!!) Mario Party Game in the series has, I feel, dropped the standard from the last two games. It still has the "Party" feel to it; turn based play, mini games (and the pleasure of winning them); the coin earning, the stars, and the different boards. This edition has more characters than any of the previous ones, with the veterans such as Mario, Peach and Yoshi, whilst introducing new ones such as Hammer Bros. and Blooper, both found as enemies ...
...has all new boards, retaining the usual "get 20 coins and trade them for a start" feature, and including new ways of earning stars. For example, on the "Koopa's Tycoon Town" board, your character moves around investing coins into hotels, a bit like "Monopoly", in order to earn stars, with each hotel only providing stars to the player with the highest amount of coins invested. However - it has less mini games than "Mario Party 7", and retains the ...

Ok. But a setback in the saga.

Advantages: Fun to Play with friends
Disadvantages: Boring to play alone, mediocre graphics, below average gameplay.

...you are new to the Mario Party's Saga this game is quite fun and you should try it out. Though i warn you this is a game you should get if you are gonna play with friends, it gets boring extremely fast if you play it alone. The game consists basically in 2 parts, the board game and the mini games. All players in the board game roll dices and advance in the board, and the main goal is to collect stars along the board. After every turn you get to ...
...You get the classic mario family to pick characters from, including: Toadletts, Mario, Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, Peach, Donkey Kong, Boo, among others. Saddly, if you are a fan of this saga and have enjoyed previous mario parties, Mario Party 8 is a setback. It has nothing new regarding graphics, the gameplay is a little bit more complicated than the others, and the minigames aren't that much fun. I think Nintendo should really reconsider the way the ...

...the same as the other mario party games, which if this is the case it would probably not be such a good buy, for me this is my first mario party game so the idea of the it is still fresh. Maybe if you own the others the game won't be very good value. If you pick this up for about £30 instead of the rrp of £40 I would say its good value for money. ...

Wii Mario Party 8

Advantages: lots of mini games and multi-player
Disadvantages: maybe drags on - slightly!!

Mario Party 8 for the wii is a great game (up to 4 players/teams). There are various characters to choose from - they include Mario, peach, Daisy, Luigi, Waluigi, Wario,Toad, Toadette, Yoshi, Boo, Dry Bones, Blooper, Birdo, and Hammer Bro. There is a star carnival - which has the options of Party Tent, Star battle Arena, Minigame Tent, Extras Zone and Fun Bazaar. Party Tent consists off party boards with 3 battles for the user to choose from. The ...

Such as if the player/team decides to eat the twice candy they will hit two dice blocks; thrice candy allows the player/team to hit the dice block 3 times. There is also the slowgo candy which only has 1-5 moves which moves slowly so the user can almost choose the exact ...

Advantages: Its mario party have a few friends and it is a blast
Disadvantages: Taked on wii contolls feel horrible

the Mario partys on the game cube even though they had mixed reviews. And I even remember the old original on the N64 which gave me blisters for weeks! (if anyone tried keeping the shy guy flying for as long as possible with the palm of your hand on the control stick will know what I mean! ) Anyway I was really looking forward to the prospect of a mario party game on the Wii with the promise of the wii's unique controls the games should be really ...
...main game boards are standard mario party fair and are not anything fans of the series would have seen before. though the two that do stand out are the Gost haunted house board and the Monopoly board where players try to buty the biggest property to gain stars but if a player comes along and has more coins they can but the house of you and make it thier own. This is an interesting concept and shame it wasn't expanded on a little more. The mini games ...

Quick review of Mario Party 8 (Wii)

This is the best game I have bought for the wii so far. It's even better than the sports! There are around 80 different games which you use the wii remote for. One hilarious game is the soda can: you have to shake the wii remote up and down as fast as you can to win. Also sawing wood, throwing darts, rowing a boat and general hilarity is the aim of the game! This game gets every player involved whether you are playing alone, with the computer or against 3 other players. This is one not to be missed and definately worth the full price tag! Can't wait for Super Galaxy Mario! ...

Mario is there but it's no party!!!!!

Advantages: A few good boards
Disadvantages: so slllllllllllllllllllllllllllllloooooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwww!

...is that you play as Mario characters to go round a board game style world. Rolling dice to move and competing in mini games to earn coins and stars to come out on top after a certain amount of turns. Sadly this is close to one of the worst games I have ever played. It is a big disappointment since this is the first Mario party I have played since Mario party 1 on the N64 which I loved. The main problem is the game just runs sooooo slowly even with ...
...amount of waiting!!! Another problem which just shows no care has been put into this game is that you will end up playing too many 2 vs 2 or 3 vs 1 games. If you're not familiar with the M Party games the free for all games out number the 2 vs 2 and 3 vs 1 by about 5:1 which means you will be doing the same games over and over if 2 vs 2 or 3 vs 1 games keep coming up. The one good thing I can say about the same is that some of the boards have good ...
