The best thing on Radio 1

Should be on three hours

I am a big fan of Mark Radcliffe on radio 1. Currently this show is aired from 2pm –4pm on weekday afternoons, but from 19th Feb 01 it will air from 1pm – 3pm. The show is hosted by two funny guys, Mark Radcliffe and Marc Riley (the Boy Lard). Hence, Mark and Lard. Previously to the...

Top quality entertainment, full of unique humour a...

Only on for two hours

I first heard Mark and Lard in 1997 when they were plugging the gap between Chris Evans and Zoe Ball on the Radio 1 Breakfast show. They were unique and funny then, but as Radio 1 opted for Ball Mark and Lard were moved to the afternoon. Since then the show has developed still further. They are...

Abso-bloomin-lutely chuffin' hilarious

Not everyone's cup of char. But then again, what i...

First-time listeners to Mark and Lard's show (BBC Radio One, Monday-Friday, 2pm) will probably be baffled, and wonder what the hell the two cheeky Northerners are on (about). But stick with it for a few days, and soon you'll be unable to tear yourself away from their unique brand of humour. They...

Funny , Entertaining and Good Music Too!!

Followed by Chris Moyles

The radio station I usually listen to is Classic Fm (being a bit of an auld git, and liking music by a lot of dead people) , however I have to tune in to Mark Radcliffe and his sidekick Lard (Marc Riley ex instrumentalist with Mark Smith's fall , who had to leave to to a clash of names)...

Pretty good strike rate

Dynamite form expected

Okay, so there's no-one else good on daytime radio, but even so, Mark & Lard still trounce allcomers. Not that they're perfect (the constant innuendo can occassionally grate, and sometimes revelling in mediocrity can be, well, mediocre), and the blasted playlist doesn't help, but there's still a...

Hilarious afternoon comedy

should have a longer show

Mark & Lard have got the funniest radio show on air at the moment, these two men from Manchester have the zaniest sense of humour without it being too hard to understand. They started off on the breakfast show before getting moved to an afternoon slot. Whilst having an excellent choice of music...

Irrelevant, witty, different

On at a really bad time, music

Biggaddy, bigaddy, bong! If that's the wrong spelling I apologise, but can't help but think that you're sad for noticing... Mark and Lard have been moved around by Radio 1 scheduling more times than I can be bothered to remember- going from the late night slot they did have (in the beginning...

great funny show

some of their joke grow old after a while

This is one of the best shows on Radio 1. The show is hosted by to northerners, which are just having a laugh. The have tonnes of jokes. My favourite part of the show is the cheesily cheerful chart challenge this is where they give a topic which is in the media at the moment, and people phone in...

Pretty good music, hilarious DJs

Scheduled pretty badly (I'm not home at 2pm)

Despite what Chris Moyles might say, Mark Radcliffe and Marc Riley are the true saviours of Radio 1. They started with the ‘Graveyard Shift’ 10pm-12midnight, moved to the Breakfast Show (and drove off all the teenyboppers, an admirable achievement,) and now they’re on between 2pm and 4pm. They...

comical

slightly repetitive

The Marc and Lard show (now in a new earlier time slot) stands out from the crowd of bland and boring afternoon radio shows because of the strong personalities of the two presenters. You can tell that these two are good friends who are of the same age and share the weird musical/ comedy influences...

Everything!

some material is repeated too much

Mark and Lard are an aquired taste. Once you starting experimenting with them you will get hooked. Mark Radcliffe is the sensible, witty host who says some incredibly funny things. Marc Riley (Lard) is the sidekick with a catalogue of catch-phrases that is basically endless. This quizes on the...

Good music, funny

None really

Mark and Lard are the best thing on radio 1 at the moment. They have some great features such as the wheel of misfortune, oh lucky you and the yes/no game which takes the rip out of the game they do on local radio where a caller mustn't say yes or no for a whole minute. Despite telling the same...

Not for me

Funny (occasionally)

Same old content, poor music

I am amazed that Mark and Lard have lasted so long really. In the beiggining when i first started listening to the program, it was witty and i enjoyed it. But the novelty has worn off and frankly it's the same old rubbish daily. The quality of music played on the show is as best poor, and could...

“Radio wonderful”

Good music, likeable DJs

Can be repetitive

If only every radio show was like this I might turn on the wireless more often. Decent music interspersed with the very worst that the Radio 1 playlist can force on the DJs...But when forced to play soulless smooth rubbish like Craig David at least Racliffe 'n Riley have the honesty to follow it...
