Advantages Advantages Rice cakes with marmite!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not too healthy, too salty and drying.

What are they? **************** A packet of rice cakes. Special features? ******************* These are small mini snack sized rice cakes that have been flavoured with marmite. The rice cakes are rich in B vitamins and claim to contain no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. They are also suitable for vegetarians. What do I think of them? ************************** Well, the idea of having some rice cakes flavoured with something decent and familiar was very appealing, as rice cakes just have virtually no taste to them, in fact, they are very similar to polystyrene! Marmite, well ... more

Marmite Adult Rice Cakes......... Now having started this new healthier eating regime I have bought in lots of low fat low calorie snacks to keep me going when I feel the need to pick on something. One of the best buys I feel is a large packet of these marmite rice cakes. They are available to buy in smaller crisp like bags such as the brand Snack a jacks sell but they are also available in the larger packets also like Snack a Jacks and this is the version that I decided to get. I opted for the larger version because it probably works out a lot cheaper. You pay a little under £1.50 and get a ... more

    Advantages Advantages Healthy; Tasty; Cheap

Disadvantages Disadvantages Marmite is an acquired taste

Recovering from a stomach ulcer and having to eat plain, low fat food little but often, I have been a little stumped as to what I can safely nibble between meals. With my usual spicily flavoured snacks such as Doritos out of the question, I decided to try rice cakes, an old favourite of my sister’s that I used to tease her mercilessly about when we were young. My first reaction was that they weren‘t that bad after all, the initial shot of flavour being reminiscent of the old seventies breakfast cereal, Puffa Puffa Rice. However, I soon began to find them a little too bland for my ... more

Advantages Advantages Healthy and marmite flavoured.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None.

I have always been a fan of Snack a Jacks so I do tend to gravitate towards the rice based snacks, not due just to the taste but also because many of these types of snacks tend to be merchandised as diet food, being much healthier than the bog standard crisp varieties. When I first came across these I was more than pleased, not only could I have one of my favourite snacks but now with an authentic Marmite flavouring to boot. The product I will now review is - “Marmite rice cakes” The packet is as with most crisp packets, though these do allow a little more space for the slightly larger snack ... more

Advantages Advantages Healthy and filled with marmite flavour

Disadvantages Disadvantages Still essentially a rice cake!

Another thing my mum recently brought back from England was a packet of Marmite Rice Cakes, I've never really been a fan of rice cakes, the polystyrene texture and bland, flavourless taste isn't really something that appeals but occasionally when I've been over-indulgent, I decide to cut back and eat healthily for a while. One of the combinations that I've used in the past to liven rice cakes is marmite and I struggled to see what a company marmite flavouring rice cakes instead of me doing it myself had to offer me. Now considering the two ingredients are the same, there's not that much of a ... more

Advantages Advantages Low fat, low calories

Disadvantages Disadvantages More in the bag!

I saw these for the first time a couple of weeks ago, the distinctive Marmite brand caught my eye and I thought I must try them as I have to confess that I am a Marmiteoholic. I opened the bag in anticipation and was greeted with a subtle smell of Marmite which quickly made me stuff two rice cakes in my mouth at once! If you like rice cakes and you like Marmite then this product is a great combination and definately something you should try. I found this snack full of marmite flavour, crisp and very moorish to eat. At 99 calories for a 25g bag, it's a great snack anytime, especially if you are ... more
