MARS BAR - 'DUSTBIN ITEM OR MUSEUM PIECE'?

Advantages: Helps you work rest and play!
Disadvantages: Read on...

...a straight review of a Mars Bar from me did you? This review was inspired by LOBSTER_QUADRILL and to her it is therefore dedicated! Whilst strictly speaking you are going to feel that this review is either off topic, or posted in the wrong place, i.e should be in the café section, I do hope to offer you enough information to assist in your purchase of not one, but two Mars Bars! Let it never be said that RICHADA fails to give you value for money ...
...private server: "eBay Item: Mars Bar 1989 UNOPENED!" My first thoughts on the matter were that this was a gross breach of the company rules on two scores: 1) Using our internet connection for private purposes (yes it is in the rules, but how on earth do you enforce it?) and: 2) That trading "externally" in company time is a much more serious breach indeed, however worthless the items being traded! Now my problem is, that this act was carried ...

Tis An Art To Being Thicker Than A Snicker

Advantages: Its The Best
Disadvantages: Cost Me 45p

...I love a Mars bar and can remember when it used to be so much bigger, thicker and much more tastier, oh and calm down ladies I am still talking about the Mars bar, such filthy minds you have….. Anyway hands up if you remember the Mars bar slogan, ok collect a cuddly toy if you shouted, "A Mars a day, helps you work, rest and play". Oh and also take a slap for actually standing up and shouting that out, jeeeeeeeez what must the neighbours think of ...
...I always loved about the Mars bars was the cool design, really simple but very effective and sticks in the mind. Ok yet again audience participation, how many times does the red Mars writing appear on the wrapper, jeeeez hang on a second ok. Just don't go shouting the first number that comes into your head, think about it. Ok who all said 3, well you win a lollypop, and if you have guessed both correctly I can only assume you love train spotting ...

The pleasure of Mars!

Advantages: A taste of heaven!
Disadvantages: Calorie laden devil!

“A Mars a day helps you work rest and play”, was the Mars catchphrase I remember when growing up. Now though you would be more likely to see the slogan “Pleasure you can’t measure”, as in 2002, Mars dropped the slogan they had been using for 40 years as a result of market research, and a decline in consumer sales. Either way, Mars bars have always been a favourite of mine, regardless of the "add 2 inches to the waistline every time I glance at a ...
...*What is a Mars Bar?* Well for the few of you who don’t know what a Mars Bar is, then this bits for you…A Mars Bar is a Milk Chocolate bar with a soft nougat and caramel centre. The bar contains 33% soft nougat and 27% caramel. Please note however that a Mars Bar does contain traces of peanuts, and is made with egg whites. *And how does it taste?* Like heaven’s snow flakes melting on my tongue would be the creative answer, but realistically Mars ...

Pleasure You Can't Measure

Advantages: Great Taste, Great price, Classic
Disadvantages: The new version is nothing close to the old one

Didn't you like your Mars bars the way that they have been since the last 70 years. Why one earth have they given them a makeover. The reason to make them more suitable and popular with women. Well at least the new slogan "pleasure you can't measure" might appeal to women but in a different sort of way and surely not the intended one. LOL. This is the new slogan of Mars and replaces one of the most well known slogans ever in "A Mars a day helps ...
...The old and new Mars bars both contain the same ingredients but with the new one the nougat has been given an extra whip in order to make it lighter in texture and basically almost identical as a Milky Way. This makeover was undergone in order to gain an even larger market share and to target a wider customer base notably more women. It was said to have been considered too masculine by women and the general sway of advertizing pointed to running, ...

Sometimes Smaller Is Better

Advantages: Very tasty. Give you an instant burst of energy.
Disadvantages: Not a thing. Well, maybe a tendency to melt too easily.

...they are still distinctively a Mars Bar, although I’m still undecided as to whether or not I prefer the older, chewer bars or the new lighter, easier to chew, ones. Ah. OK. They’re both delicious, to be honest. And at this moment in time here in Ireland, you can still actually purchase both the old and new versions, depending on where you buy them, but I suppose the old type will eventually run out. They’ve stuck with the same ...
...slogan though, that read, “A Mars a day helps you work, rest, and play”. Because never was a truer message conveyed in an advert. Mars Bars are an absolute essential in my golf bag every time I hit a golf course these days, (along with an energy drink) as they provide me with a quick and almost instantaneous burst of extra energy anytime I feel the old body starting to give up on me during the round. And that happens more regularly these ...

Advantages: A pleasant snack that is surprisingly the same size as twenty years ago
Disadvantages: Melts to become a gooey mass in the heat

...welcome to the fifth annual Mars Bar conference. This confectionary bar has been around for 70 years and it is still going strong. ...of them all. A Mars straight out of the fridge: hard at first and cold on your tongue, then slowly, slowly melting and getting warmer, its contents merging together and oozing out into the furthest reaches of your mouth, a sweet, sticky union of nougat, caramel and chocolate undulating over your gums, sticking to your teeth and sending a shock through your fillings. Actually, that last bit doesn't happen to me, but I'm told it's a peril of the Mars-eating ...
...for your money in a Mars because it took some time to chew. You only needed one to gain total satisfaction, whereas now you need two. They're smaller now, and the nougat is lighter, more like a Milky Way (which is also lighter than it used to be), but the chocolate is still thick and the caramel still leaves a trail from bar to mouth that sticks to your finger when you try to shift it. They're made by Mars, wouldn't you know. They consist of whipped ...

THIS TREASURE WILL GIVE PLENTY OF PLEASURE

Advantages: Tastes lovely, made by well known confectionery manufacturer
Disadvantages: High in calories and fat, not suitable for anybody with a nut allergy

"A Mars A Day Helps You Work Rest and Play," now that's a phrase that I am more than happy to remind myself of as I'm stuffing a Mars Bar into my mouth. The new advertising jingle for Mars Bar, "Pleasure You Can't Measure," doesn't quite tempt me so much - whilst I agree with the phrase it doesn't stop me feeling guilty about shoving yet more chocolate down my throat - at least if I tell myself that it's helping me to work, rest and play I can attempt ...
...phrase "A Mars A Day" was invented in 1959 and after many years of successful advertising Mars recently decided to drop it in favour of their new advertising phrase "Pleasure You Can't Measure," they also changed the typeset on the packaging in order to make it look more modern. The apparent reason behind the change is that Mars are hoping to attract more women to eat Mars Bars as they were previously considered to be too masculine and were mainly ...

Advantages: Can be used as a weapon against attackers
Disadvantages: Doesn't do a very good job of that either

...and historical facts about the Mars bar. But alas as there seems to be very little and even the web site for the company is sparse on anything that would be relevant to this op. ...you, I am eating a Mars bar. These taste so nice and as they were on special the other day from Safeway 99p for 6 54g bars I thought I had better not let this opportunity go by. As my son is at playschool and my daughter is asleep what better time to sit down and enjoy myself by eating a lightly whipped centre and caramel covered in smooth milk chocolate. My children love these too but I have to cut them up into pieces for them as they only have ...
...When you bite into the mars bar you hear the chocolate break this is very satisfying and the gooey caramel which if you were to break it with your fingers I can imagine that it wouldn't stop stretching. So you take another bite and then another and then after a few more it's all gone and even though you are full you still think I could ...

A MARS A DAY....

A Mars a day helps you work, rest and play. That slogan is the first thing that came into my head when I decided to write about Mars Bar, that lovely chocolate bar in the black paper. It is really going to bug me, as I do not know who came up with that slogan, I think he had something to do with Sports and it made him a lot of money. Anyway… If you do not know what a Mars bar looks like, then it is basically a soft nougat chewy centre covered ...

...under control….. or have a Mars bar. The later I think. If you’ve being living on another planet with your eyes shut you may not have heard of Mars Bars and it’s probably as likely, in that predicament, that you may not have tasted one but I doubt it. The Mighty Mars Bar

Advantages: Classic chocolate bar
Disadvantages: They changed the nougat filling

...I have disowned it (sorry Mars Bar but I have found other favourites - I still love you though!). 'A Mars a day helps you work rest and play' - this was the little catchphrase that was associated with Mars Bar. Funny really; it's like saying a chocolate bar a day is good for you. The slogan has now changed to 'Pleasure you can't measure' which definitely seems more appropriate. A standard Mars bar comes at 58g, about 11cm long and 1.8cm high. You'll ...
...onto the market. The Mars packaging as remained faithful to its classic black wrapper and the red 'Mars' font with gold outline. However, the font used to be italic 'Times new Roman' with an underline but this changed to a more 'comic sans' child like writing and the removal of the underline when the nougat centre became lighter like that of a Milky Way chocolate centre. Curse you Mars! According to the wrapper, this bar is free from Artifical ...

...can I say about the Mars bar that hasn’t already been said? Read on and find out. The Mars bar is one of the oldest chocolate bars around and quite frankly it is unstoppable. The Nazis couldn’t stop the Mars bar. Sweets may have been rationed during the war but production of the Mars bar continued and it was shipped out to the armed forces around the world. It is the number one selling chocolate bar in the UK. And get this almost half the UK population ...
...more than their once monthly Mars bar. I for one have done so this week. But I’m getting a little ahead of myself. As a child I always found the Mars bar somewhat frustrating. It was chocolate which meant it should be good, you had to endure such foods as broccoli to be allowed to eat a Mars bar and yet when I came to eat it I found it a little bland. I did go through a brief phase aged eleven when I ate a Mars bar every night for about a week and ...
