Marvellous Marvelon!

Advantages: Hardly any Side Effects, No Pregnancy, Helps Skin.
Disadvantages: A Little Nausea!

...to have a period but Marvelon is also available in 28 day packs too. * What's Special about Marvelon? * Marvelon was approved for usage in the early 1980s and since then has merely grown in circulation. It is a combined pill (it contains both estrogen and progestin) and also a low dose pill (containing only 30 micrograms of estrogen so minimising risk from side long term effects). It prevents an egg being released from the ovaries and also changes ...
...I'd have to say that Marvelon is the best pill I've tried and it's been over a year now. I have very few side effects, sometimes a little nausea on the first day of taking it but my emotions and mood swings have settled down so much. After having such trouble with my skin Marvelon suits me perfectly as it does combat spots and maintain clear skin, but with lower doses than Dianette did. So for any of you with problematic skin that don't want the ...

Marvelon -contraceptive pill

Advantages: Don't get pregnant
Disadvantages: remembering to take the pill every day

HISTORY OF MARVELON Marvelon was origionally brought out in the 1980's, it contatins 150g of microgram desogestrel and 30 microgram ethinylestradiol. This means it's a combined low-dose oral contraceptive. To me this means nothing, I didn't really think about what my body would be taking in when taking the pill, all I cared about was not getting pregnant straight away. However the doctor assured me this was a safe and good pill to take at my age ...

Sex - Safe but Painful

Advantages: prevents pregnancy, free on NHS, regulates periods and make them lighter and less painful
Disadvantages: can cause horribe side effects

...Marvelon ~~~~~~~~ Marvelon is one of several different types of the pill which are manufactured by a company called Organon. This was the second kind of pill I had tried, after finding that another popular brand, Microgynon 30, was unsuitable for me. My doctor recommended Marvelon to me as I am prone to headaches and this was apparently one which was less likely to provoke them compared to other kinds. Marvelon is produced in the Netherlands and ...

marvelon for contraception

Advantages: effective with less side effects
Disadvantages: Not suitable for all

Marvelon is the only pill I tried and it suited me fine. I did not have to try any other pill. Marvelon is a low dose contraceptive pill. It contains ethinyl estradiol and desogestrol as active ingredients . These are synthetic versions of the naturally occurring female sex hormones, oestrogen and progesterone. Mechanism of action : - It prevents ovulation ( that prevents release of egg from ovaries) - it makes the cervical mucus thick and hence ...
...- It also makes the linning of the womb unfavourable for implantation off egg. How to take: It should be started on day 1 of menstrual cycle. Can start any time upto day 5 of the cycle without needin an additional contraception. The Little Pill That Does It All

Advantages: Completely pain free periods!
Disadvantages: Makes you a bit irritable at times

Marvelon is the second brand of pill I have been on. As the pill I tried before it put me through what was one of the worst experiences of my life, I didn't expect Marvelon to work half as well as it did and thought it was a nightmare just waiting to happen. However, 6 months later, I'm still happy to be on it. WHAT IS IT, AND HOW MANY DO I TAKE? The pill is generally used to prevent pregnancy. It does this by releasing female sex hormones, preventing ...
...how bad the pain was. Marvelon solved all of that from the very first month, and now they are completely painless. I dread ever going off this pill for any reason because I know it'll be straight back to how bad it was before! Whereas now not only are they completely painfree, but they also last for fewer days so it gets it over and done with much quicker. In conclusion, though there are side effects with this pill they are very small. And in my ...

A pill a day keeps a baby at bay.

Advantages: Prevents pregnancy, can help lower lipid levels.
Disadvantages: Not good for smokers

Marvelon is a contraceptive for use as regular contraceptive. It contains both synthetic progesterone an synthetic oestrogen. These hormones act on the female genital tract and certain areas in the brain to prevent the release of an ovum (egg) from the ovaries, hence preventing pregnancy. MArvelon is different from the emmergency contraceptive Levonorgestrel (the morning after pill - Levonelle) in that it contains a much smaller amount of hormone. ...
...sex. Marvelon is designed to be taken at the same time each day for 21 days followed by a seven day pill free break, during which time, a withdrawel bleed occurs. Recent evidence has shown that there is no harm in taking up to three packets of marvelon in a row without a break between each packet. This would give 63 days between each period, a godsend for me. I started taking marvelon over five years ago and have had no problems with it whatsoever. ...

Not so marvelous Marvelon.

Advantages: Easy to use, seems reliable, periods are ok.
Disadvantages: Acne, AWFUL mood swings, etc.

...variety of annoying side effects. Marvelon is the latest one my doctor has shunted me onto in an attempt to find something I can tolerate. It's a standard sort of monophasic combined pill - all the pills are the same dosage (fairly low, apparently) - You take one pill a day for 3 weeks, then have a week off. The 'periods' I've had in these breaks have been ok, not too heavy or painful. About the same as my natural periods, in fact. (Which has been ...
...my review on Cerazette!) Marvelon is easy to use - it doesn't matter if you take the pills at different times each day, and you are still protected from pregnancy if you miss one or even two pills and take them as soon as you remember the next day. As with most similar pills, if you miss one near the end of the pack, you should skip the next 7 day break and just go straight on to the next pack. And if you miss several, you obviously need to use ...

Thank god for Marvelon

Advantages: Convenient
Disadvantages: None

I was shunted on to Marvelon about 18 months ago when I was 19. I'd been taking Microgynon 30 which caused me to have constant headaches and bad skin, then Dianette which didn't improve either my skin or my headaches, then the mini pill, which I couldn't take regularly enough due to my lifestyle. I was put on Marvelon having discussed the idea of the coil, injection and several other methods of contraception with my GP. I was suffering from bad acne, ...
...pain. I was told that Marvelon should help all of these symptoms, so I happily accepted. The pill itself contains synthetic progesterone and estroegen which fools the body into thinking its pregnant. This stops the ovaries from realeasing eggs each month. The pill also thins the womb lining which makes periods shorter and lighter. The first thing I noticed was that I got little or no cramping which was a blessing. Occasionally I have a bad month, ...

Review of Marvelon Contraceptive Pill

Great for me, I hope!

Advantages: no pregnancy, MUCH better periods
Disadvantages: worried about risks

I started taking Marvelon when I was 14 years old because of really painful and irregular periods. I'm still on it now and I'm 27, though there have been breaks along the way. The longest of these breaks was after the infamous Pill Scare in 1995 when doctors thought third-generation combined pills, like Marvelon, gave women a higher risk of deep-vein thrombosis. I tried several other brands which didn't suit me and ended up oing to ask for my Marvelon ...
...a bus. Basically with Marvelon I have absolutely no negative side effects. My periods are light, short and much less painful and I have never become pregnant, so I assume it's all working as intended. There are lots of side effects listed on the information leaflet but I've never suffered with any of them. Speaking of the information leaflet, I have to say it's very comprehensive, with lists of side effects, people who shouldn't take the pill and ...

MARVELON

Advantages: NONE
Disadvantages: TO MANY TO WRITE HERE!

I first started on Marvelon two months ago and I can honestly say it has been the worst two months of my life. I have terrible acne, where as previously I only had the odd spot or two when I was due on, now I am plagued with spots. My first period with Marvelon came 7 days after I took the last pill and was that heavy that I had to back to the doctors to see if they could give me tablets to stop me bleeding as I leaked over the chairs in college, ...

Which I have been told is because it fooled my body into thinking I was already pregnant so did not release an egg. I will not touch ...

Review of Marvelon Contraceptive Pill

Side effects

Marvelon - really good choice

Advantages: clearer skin, great contraception, easier periods, better weight control overall
Disadvantages: tender breasts during period, moodiness, sometimes acne flare-ups.

Marvelon is a combined contraceptive pill containing Ethinylestradiol 30 micrograms plus desogestrel 150 micrograms. Its primary use is as a contraceptive, but it had anti-androgenic effects, making it a good pill to help improve acne and excess hair. For me, Marvelon was a fantastic pill for over a year. I lost 3 stone whilst on it, which was truly incredible, as usually I am prone to gaining weight. My skin was relatively clear whilst on it, ...
...flared up and the side effects were horrible (weight gain, acne, low moods - but this was PCOS not Marvelon) and this pill didn't seem strong enough to keep them under control. I also found that this pill made me shed more hair from my head than I would have liked! Again, this can be a PCOS side effect, but the same thing happened on Cerazette, which also uses desogestrel, so I believe they are related. There were some scares about high DVT risks ...

Unexpected delayed side-effect

Advantages: No pregnancy - No bloating - no pain - lots
Disadvantages: Make sure you check with your doctor every 5 years or so, if this is still the pill for you.

I have been on Marvelon for the past 7 years (more on than off) - I live in China - where it is sold OTC (and costs about 2 pounds - GOVT funds no doubt) Never had any side-effects - no nausea - no weight gain - no pain (never had any to start with), no blotting - no pregnancy. However, when I turned 30 I realised that my body changed (hormone -wise). Last year I started experiencing heavy skin-allergies on my face. Itchiness and pimples (not acne, ...

Didn't link the problem to the pill or hormones - didn't want to know I guess, I thought it would just go away - I decided to take better care of my skin and started using the dermologica line. My skin is much better although I do get the occasional rash on my face before my periods are due. However each rash outbreak leaves scars and I never now leave the house without ...
