...and replacement tumbledryer. Effectively Mastercare cover you for any repairs that need to be performed on your appliance including normal parts and call out fees. Simple stuff like fuses and plugs aren't covered but they're hardly bank-breaking and you should check that it's not either of these two causing you problems before you call out Mastercare. Their cover ranges 1 to 5 years and in my experience the 5 year £79.95 option is best.

...modem wasnt working! I phoned Mastercare and the got it working over the phone. I then had a good view of mastercare and thought my money was well spent....BOY I WAS WRONG!!!!
THE 2ND PROBLEM
This was a bit more serious! About 4 1/2 years later my computer smelled of TCP and was smoking (I keep telling it to give up!!!)! I called Mastercare and they said that the fan had probably gone and they would order me a new one. I thought thats was the right ... ...if you dont believe me read more ops, we all feel the same! Pc world have now STOPPED using Mastercare and have swithced to PC Performance, though we are not positive that this is a new company! It may be Mastercare just under a different name!

...a fault on PC to Mastercare (part of the Dixons Group) for a fault on my PC which I had purchased 2 years earlier from PC World in West Thurrock. The fault was in fact the whole PC itself had no power supply. We had tried the obvious to get power to it from switching cable to changing fuses but still nothing!
It was at this point I remembered taking out a 5 year Coverplan with Mastercare, which in effect should cover my PC for 5 years for any faults ... ...I would recommend Coverplan and Mastercare to people but if you are going to take out this cover make sure you read the small print and the conditions under which they have to repair your product as without me discovering the so called 6 week rule it could have been 4 or 5 months without a PC. The Coverplan also covers you against theft of the product so that too can be a huge advantage should the worst happen. Let’s just hope I had a one off unfortunate ...

...the helpful *cough* people at mastercare at least 3 times, but once again it had been completely reformatted. This time I lost everything because I didnt have a power supply to feed my dead-as-a-dodo battery so I couldn't reformat it. 10 GB of home recorded flute music and family photos and vids down the drain! I was not amused. The next time I sent it off, I needed a new heatsink fan as the one I had kept cutting out all of the time. This job took ... ...reformatted the hard drive, the computer has never been slower. It now takes 10 minutes at the fastest to switch on and load up, and Instead of the already useless 128 Mb memory module showing up, the computer claimed to be running on 64Mb! I managed to sort this problem, but I have had to install windows 2000 now as the thing can't run XP whatsoever.
The most recent annoyance with this thing is that I sent the laptop off on Monday October 17th ...

...widescreen TV. My wife contacted Mastercare on the 24 hour hotline only to have someone at the other end of the phone to say that the "24 hour home service" would take two or three days.
Accepting this was no option as we had paid for the service and needed the TV repaired. The TV was duely inspected by an engineer three days later. (Not bad you think!)
It was pronounced faulty and nothing that the engineer could fix on site. The engineer could ... ...TV was collected by more Mastercare staff.
One week later my wife and I decided to chase up the TV whereabouts. It had been repaired and would be returned the next day. It was returned but returned with a different fault. The TV had to sit faulty for another two days while we again waited for the TV to be inspected and another day for it to be collected. My wife demanded and received a loaner TV (not widescreen and not tuned in) two days later. ...

It’s been three months since I’ve had full and permanent use of a laptop. It was taken from me back in July and as November knocks on the door under the pretence of trick-or-treaters, I find myself thinking a bit deeper about the situation. Last time I was able to actually sit down and write something properly was when it was about 30°C. I’m writing this at 18.49 and it’s pitch black out there. Back when I had the old laptop, the sun would be shining ... ...headache for about three weeks now and I went to the doctor’s last week. I had a locum because my proper doctor was on leave. She checked my blood pressure, signed me off work and gave me painkillers and told me, “go home and get some rest. You look awfully pale.”

What started as buying a digital TV last September 2002,to enjoy the Christmas season has turned into a a difficult time!
I discovered a fault in the TV which was taken for repair on October13-02 with a promise that it will not take more than 10 days, but I discovered that my TV has been caught in a huge spider web of bureaucratic system where the staff play with customers a cat and mouse game with tragic consequences. I was left without TV for ... ...complain directly to the Chief Executive about my case which proof beyond doubt that I am a victim of Dixons bureaucratic system which led to my deprivation of my TV for six months under the excuse of repair. In fact I had in record scores of phone calls to Dixons customer services where I got funny and contradictory excuses about the state of repair of my TV. I believe that Dixons system has no effective links. Now My case with Dixons was settled ...

...with a 5 year Mastercare Plan.
It worked and we were happy with it and felt safe in the knowledge that for the next 5 years we would not have the expense of replacing it . We had no problems with it untill August last year. When one day my son and I were watching it one sunday evening and the picture shifted to one side and then made a "popping" noise and the picture and everything went completely. I thought no problem and went and got the paperwork ... ...nice lady suggested we phone mastercare as it was part of the agreement. We phoned mastercare and unlike previous calls which had been efficent and polite, this one was not. they said we should not have had a loan set the previous times as they had stopped doing it a year ago. me hubby phoned them and the reason was that all households have more than one TV and so did not need it. We explained that we did not and they basically told him tough!

...was offered the coverplan from MasterCare only £395.00 for a £1299.00 pc and was told by the assistant that the policy would cover the computer, monitor, printer and keyboard, so I took out the policy. In February 2001 the keyboard picked up a fault and I called MasterCare to have it replaced, which they did and very quickly I was impressed. They told me to dispose of the other one and keep the replacement which I did.
In April the monitor started ... ...to buy. Never again.
I feel so cheated by such a large company and feel so strong about this matter I felt compelled to write I am absolutely amazed by the level of service at pc world and mastercare I will never shop with the Dixon's group again. ...

I reluctantly bought a mastercare policy to cover my large american fridge/freezer. I am always against these agreements on principal because it stops the manufacturers from taking any responsibility after just 1 year. The sale of goods act provide grounds for a claim for up to 6 years.
After only 2 years the freezer broke down, 6 days before a bank holiday, just after I had filled it with foods for a massive party we were due to host for the holiday ... ...people with no support from mastercare at all. They were unable to schedule a service call for 11 days. It was the middle of the heatwave and I have a young child who relies on a special milk that needs to be refrigerated until the point of use. Expert appliance were totally unwilling to offer any help at all and Mastercare point blank refused to negotiate with them on our behalf. I said I would get a local repairman to call, but Mastercare said ...

I used Mastercare to initiate a repair to a 28" Widescreen TV in April 2002 - it is now Mid July with no end in sight. Throughout, the service has been dreadful.
Story so far: picture on the TV went very narrow. Mastercare contacted and a Field Service Engineer sent. He was very pleasant, but unable to find a fault, could not take the TV in his van, and cracked the case putting it back together. He then filled out a very ambiguous report, which ... ...to explain that it had been caused by him and it was expected to be fixed.
No real problems so far, and the TV was duly picked up the next week and transported off to Erith to be fixed. Several weeks passed, the World Cup came and went, and we were notified that it was ready to be delivered.
On return, despite the note about the crack having been transferred to a faults to be fixed form, it hadn't been. The TV worked, but the Remote had not been ...

...going mad. Today I contacted Mastercare and was told to wait until this afternoon to see what the repair centre could do to rectify the situation. If after 3pm it is not resolved I am off to Trading Standards and my Solicitor to take this further. My advice to anyone is get a policy from someone else. Have Mastercare cover for my Fridge freezer which has just decided to play up and it was making a racket.Isuspect it was an intrernal fan as this has happened before.Called to get a engineer to visit and was given a appointment a week hence.ABSOLOUTELY USELESS.I aclled the day after to tell them the problem was much worse and the noise was keeping us awake at night.STILL NO JOY.Appointment could not be earlier although i said it was an emergency ... ...seven days before engineer comes.
Bought a new freezer instead but not from CURRY'S and as far as Mastercare goes - DON'T TOUCH IT.
They need to sort out there response times as they are nothing less than useless at the moment so DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. ...

I CALLED Mastercare who said 'we don't know when you parts will be in - but according the the terms of you contract we have 6 weeks anyway'
I CALLED on 6 occasions and was eventually told - don't call us, we'll call you!'
If after 6 weeks you don't have a successful repair (and this is very very likely) you may still be palmed off with a refurbished replacement!!!
Surely under the trade descriptions act this must be a simple ...
