Advantages: Good value for money Disadvantages: Mono not stereo sound
...you what it was:-
THE MATSUI 14" COMBINED TV & VIDEO I know a lot of people go for well known names such a Sony, Sharp, Bush etc. So I suppose you are wondering who the heck is Matsui. Dixons store group, cover Currys and Dixons. Before the two stores merged Currys own brand was Saisho and Dixons own brand was Logic. When Dixons bought Currys out they merged their own brands and thus the new name own brand Matsui was invented.
This may not be a ... ...room. I have bought Matsui products before and have always found them to have a good long life above average. My Matsui video is still going strong and I must have had it five years or more.
So, okay I am a bit thick when it comes to buttons on machines. More than an On and OFF button confuses me. When I was in the store looking at TV/Video combis each and every set I looked at seemed to have lots of buttons. My heart started racing, I was thinking ...

Advantages: Makes a profit for Matsui Disadvantages: Great contender for Poor Controller Championship
...apart. Right, I'll never buy Matsui again.
The hours dragged on, and all of a sudden the front panel which hides the controls fell off, as well as the plaque with the model and make of the television. That was OK though - I didn't have to fiddle around with the panel every time I wanted to change the channel, considering the Remote Control was broken...
Ugly TV which doesn't work very well, is difficult to use, poorly made, picks up pictures badly ...

Advantages: Portable, good value, built in VCR Disadvantages: A little hard to get your head around
I had this telly bought for me at Christmas. It is a small portable telly with a vcr built into it. It is very useful being portable as I went to the bath the other day and I was going to miss Heartbeat, so I took it into the bathroom (which is very dangerous by the way!)and layed back, relaxed and watched my program in complete comfort thanks to my trusty telly. My last telly was huge so this would have been impossible to do! The recording on this ... ...quite difficult to actually program the video and I have to dig out the instructions every time. If you want to record on say channel 1, and you do so manually, you cannot change the channel. This becomes quite annoying and you just want to smash the damn thing in! Also there is no teletext on it but I have heard that you can purchase a similar tv with text on it which gives us a wide variety. The reseption is quite poor so you would need to buy ...

I bought a Matsui 14 inch TV and VCR last week from Curry (same lot as DIXONS). Initially I wanted the unit with TELETEXT but that was not available. Anyway once I got this home and connected it in I found that although the VCR playback gave a reasonable picture the tuner picture was very noisy. This was both via a terrestial aerial and cable decoder. I tried my other TV at the same aerial socket and that worked fine. I returned that unit to CURRY's ... ...he decided that it was pointless having a different unit by same manufacturers as it have the same tuner. Basically he had half a dozen of these units on the workbench and they had the same tuner symptoms. Since then I have purchased a Phillips 14 inch TV and VCR which displays a perfect picture at the same aerial outlet. If you are not satisfied with a similar unit take it back. ...
