    Advantages Advantages A presenter that appears to be unbiased.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Everything else!

    Maury is one of those American talk shows that is similar to the likes of Jerry Springer, but without as much of the drama or fighting. And in my own humble opinion, it is also just like a car crash - you don’t really want to watch it, but something in you makes you. Shown in the UK on the Sky/ Living cable channels, it is normally shown between late afternoon and teatime (somewhere between four and six) and is on for an hour (but this does of course include advertisement breaks).     Advantages Advantages Great show, great subjects, great host

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None, except that it should be shown on terrestrial TV

    Unfortunately, as Maury Povitch is on Cable & Satellite TV I tend to miss a lot of his shows as I forget they are on, but when I do happen to watch them, they are great! He is undisputably the best chat show host around. His shows can be funny, sad, or thought provoking and they always come across as very watcheable. I've lost count of how many times I've had to wipe away a tear as I've watched seriously disabled people tenderly given lots of affection from Maury himself.     Advantages Advantages Come on, he's NOT Jerry Springer

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Waste of time; we have too many shows like this

    No matter how I try to see this guy in a positive light, his image (and name) never ceases to bring me back to his show's counterpart Jerry Springer. I must admit his shows are not bad. And at least he doesn't put on a 2-faced fake attitude by ending the show on a Final Thought. Also, at least he doesn't diss his 'guests' on the show. All in all the topics and issues that are dealt with on his show are dealt with in a more or less professional way. However, I think I've had enough of these dilemma shows for a lifetime. ... more

    At first, when I watched Maury Povich, I thought it was not too bad. Th story's headlines (such as "Is it a men or a women?", or "Who is my Daddy"?) were slightly different from Jerry Springer (who I also used to like, well for a few months...). The chat host Maury also seem to be more or less genuine and his sense of humour is ok. The programme also shows updates, i.e. what happens to the guests after the show, which is kinda interesting. However after watching the show for a month or so it started driving me mad!! I mean, how sad do you have to be to go on the show and tell the rest of the ... more

    Advantages Advantages less disgusting, violent and embarassing than Jerry Springer. Good content.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not many people have heard of him in UK

    Maury Povich comes up on UK Living in regular slots. I really enjoy it, purely because it is less eccentric than shows like Jerry Springer, yet still has a lot of interesting things to say. Maury is a middle-aged male chat show host - he is polite, but not afraid to pass personal judgement - I prefer this. It annoys me when very obnoxious guests appear on chat shows and the host doesn't give them any lip - if I was them I'd find it hard not to punch, scream or kick - let alone say a judgemental word or two. Maury covers many interesting issues, but it is never excessively seedy. I hate those ... more

    Maury Povich has to be without a doubt the new King of Chat Shows. Whereas his competetiors, such as Sally, Jenny Jones and Jerry seem to be focusing more on tacky topics, the subjects covered by Maury are thought-provoking and emotional. Okay, so he too covers troubled teens, but it's the way that he does it that makes the difference. You can tell that he's listening to what people say and not just there to earn money. He covers all sorts of subjects, from troubled newley weds to mothers with no limbs and the unbelieveably overweight toddlers. His style is both charismatic and genuine, and ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Some toipcs are a bit 'lightweight'

    Maury Povich is one of the better satellite talk shows (in fact as a matter of fact I have it on in the background at this present time) which alternates between thought provoking discussion or disclosure, (Are You The Father Of My Child?) humour, (Man or Woman?) and entertainment programs (Child Prodigies). Mr Povich is an excellent presenter, reminiscent of out own Robert Kilroy Silk, only less smarmy, who really brings out the best in his guests.     Maury can only be described as a classy Gerry Springer. He has a way with people which allows him to put them at their ease in front of millions of viewers. He covers the usual topics - teens uphappy at school, makeovers etc yet is not monotonous at all. He generally does seem sincere unlike many talk show hosts who seem to manipulate their guests feels to cause a reaction which will make the show more entertaining. Therefore I watch his show and would encourage my friends to do so. This should be on prime time television! ... more

    Many people have been starting to suggest that Maury Povich has, or will soon, become the new King of Chat Shows, stealing Jerry Springer's long-worn crown. For me, it's a toss-up between the two. In terms of the content of the show, Maury is not quite so 'harsh' in terms of the subjects. We still get stuff like "My 13-year-old daughter is a slut" and "You are too fat to wear bikinis" but nothing quite as bad as Jerry's shock stuff, and Maury often is seen dealing with real, compassionate issues too as well as the extraordinary unbelievable stuff.     Advantages Advantages Maury, good topics, interesting show

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none of the sensationalism of Jerry Springer (if you want that)

    I really enjoyed this show. The difference between a good chat show and a bad chat show in my opinion is the presenter, no matter how good the guests are or how interesting the subject if a presenter is irratating we take an instant dislike to the show. Maury Povich is definately one the better ones. Although he was tackling a difficult subject in the episode I watched (children who are different eg albinos) he handled the situation in an entertaining yet sensitive way. He was friendly to the guests and never patronised the children on stage which many presenters do. Very tasteful and well ... more
