Maxtor Basics Desktop 500 GB

...but I honestly only order Maxtor for my hard drives. Now the only downside to the Maxtor 500 GB is that it is an external drive that, if not careful, can overheat and cause connectivity problems, transfer speed issues, or just annoyance from when the usb gets knocked out. That being said, if you can get past the downside of have an external I would recommend this product to anyone not using a Mac. The only reason I do not recommend this to Mac owners ...

...was really hot but the maxtor was just warm. Luckily I did not go for the more expensive brother (onetouch 4) for further details read CNET reviews I think as it is an external drive it should NOT be on constantly, I generally eject the hardware from th pc and it simply turns itself off (completely)<= I like this function. I bought this hard drive couple of weeks back to replace my 80 GB hard drive. It is alot cheaper than other brands and gives a lot of extra space to copy your data. This product is amazingly fast when you copy small chunks of data (about 4 to 5 gb). It is very fast. But when you copy huge data, it heats up and crashes.
