Advantages: Light, cheap and VERY simple to use
Disadvantages: not found those yet

I bought this last week at Tesco for under £40 so thought 160Gb forvthat price couldn't be bad. we just wanted to back up our photos and music and free a bit of space on our computer. I am not a computer wizz and things have to be reasonably simple. This is SO SIMPLE. Maxtor Basics 160GB External Portable Hard Drive

Advantages: inexpensive, easy to use and very portable
Disadvantages: less storage space available than advertised in the specs

I bought one of these drives yesterday at Tesco - £39.97 - what a bargain, in the big electrical stores its well over 50 quid... However, when I plugged it in and tried it out I discovered that it reads as a 149GB drive. Thinking that meant it was faulty, I returned it to the store and made an exchange (that was painless, so kudos to Tesco!). The thing is, the new one reads as the exact same 149GB! So whats that all about? I'd be interested ... Read review
