'Accept No Imitations'

Advantages: Full of flavour, extra chunky
Disadvantages: Single packs are expensive, no prawn cocktail flavour!

I must admit to being a bit of a savoury snack eater. I not really a chocolate sort of girl and Crisps are definitely my weakness, especially McCoys. About McCoys McCoys crisps are made by KP Snacks who also produce Hula Hoops and Skips. McCoys first started in 1985 and over 20 years later they are still going strong. Their caption is 'Accept No Imitations' which is usually written on the crisp packet. Packaging McCoy crisps come in a gold foil ...
...is various colour depending on what flavour you have i.e., green is cheese and onion, blue is salt and vinegar. As I already mentioned these packets are foil so the crisps are very fresh and crunchy, just like crisps should be. Price I usually buy my McCoys from Tesco and here a multipack of 6 costs £1.34. You can also get a multipack of 12 for £2 so I think they are fairly well priced considering the way they taste! These crisps are much more ...

FULL METAL JACKET PACKET

Advantages: fulfilling snack, great taste
Disadvantages: hard to the soft pallet

...not help seeing the real McCoy's multi~pack on special offer at £1.29. Getting fed up with the missing "solid" food in my daily lunchbox I bought two multi~packs. Each multi~pack contained twelve 35g packets, 4 salt & malt vinegar, 4 cheddar & onion and 4 flame grilled steak. Now, my intentions were good, but I no longer have a nicotine addiction as it has been replaced by a snack addiction, so as you may have guessed only two packets from the ...
...but now, with The Real McCoy's one packet and a glass of cranberry juice is enough to keep me going until 1am. They are not refered to as crisps by manufacturer KP but "potato chips" and the name "The Real McCoy's" is a the registered trade mark of United Biscuits (U.K.) Limited. The chips themselves are very thick and chunky, "Ridge Cut" being basically thick crinkle cut. They are quite hard and buscuity which if you try to eat too rapidly or you ...

Thick and Crispy

Advantages: nice thick crisps
Disadvantages: bad for you, can be too salty tasting

When you fancy a savoury snack, a packet of crisps is just the thing. I’m not a big Walkers crisps fan (bar the Worcester sauces flavour ones which are gorgeous), so I tend to go for McCoy’s, which are made by KP, as they are the next easiest thing to get hold of. The packet I happen to be scoffing now is the Rock Salt flavour (i.e. ready salted), but they come in four basic flavours. The other three are Salt and Malt Vinegar, Flame ...
...Salt and Vinegar ones, but I haven’t tried the other two as, unfortunately they are not suitable for vegetarians. There is also a ‘Spice’ range which has Firecracker Chicken, Spiced Chilli, and Balti Curry flavours. Not really my cup of tea, but they may well be quite nice. The packaging for McCoy’s crisps is very distinctive. They come in a shiny gold foil packet with the McCoy’s logo one the front – white writing ...

ARE THEY FAKING IT.

Advantages: Taste nice.
Disadvantages: Fattening as usual.

I must admit, I thought these were just going to be another bag of crisps! And in many ways they are! They both come in a plastic packet. They’re both made of potato. They’re both stuffed to the gills with calories. Yes! Essentially, they’re just another bag of crisps. But they are exceedingly nice! If you like crisps that is! The packet is gold effect with McCOY’S emblazoned across the front. Above it is written ‘The Real’, as in ‘the real McCoy’. ...
...a mere crisp manufacturer could have attained such dizzying heights of wit! But wait! It gets better! Underneath is written, ‘accept no imitations’! Get it! ‘The real McCoy’ means the genuine article, and so ‘accept no imitations’ means only go for the genuine article, or to put it another way, the real McCoy! Hee hee hee! How I laughed! For those of you unfamiliar with my sense of humour, that was sarcasm! After the above, it suddenly doesn’t seem ...

A sucker for these crinkly devils

Advantages: Tasty
Disadvantages: S&V are awful

...crisps made by people like McCoy's and swear by them. I'll never really understand why having a crinkly shape makes these crisps so much more appetising than the normal wavy but thin crisps. The folds just seem to add to the crunch and the flavour and even though there are a few different providers it's McCoy's who have cornered this particular niche in the market, at least as far as Chez dave27 goes. ACCEPT NO IMITATIONS!

Spice up your Munchies

Advantages: Crunchy and delicious
Disadvantages: Pricey

Got the munchies? Fancy a curry? What about a bag of crisps? Well I am a crispaholic and will eat any savoury snack, usually without breathing! So when I spied McCoys on the shelf of our local late night Tesco Express store,I thought "That'll do for our late night treat" Yes I know, sad sad sad! This was my first sight of their new range called McCoys " Spice". Packaged in the usual shiny packets but no longer in gold but red/rust colour foil emblazoned ...

Well having admitted I am a crisp fanatic,I now have to add that I can put away a good few curries as well,so I got quite excited over curry crisps! The range consists of Balti Curry, Firecracker Chicken and Spiced Chilli. All rather posh sounding and the packet winds you up into a frenzy of savoury desire,"If ...

Steak and Ale, the Real McCoys

Advantages: big chunky crinkled crisps with lots of flavour!!
Disadvantages: They leave an after taste plus they are truly fattening

Hi Every one! The Real McCoys are just the thing to have if your feeling rather hungry or it's just those times when you want to snack. I know that they fattening but I just walked over the crisp section in the shop and thought to my self I fancied something but wasn't sure which one to choose!. ...freshness. It states in white writing across the packet McCoys. This is what struck my attention plus the fact they added Ale flavouring with the crisps. So I chose them and took them to the counter to pay for them. They were 40p which at first though was alittle expensive for my liking but I endulged this time. When I got them home I sat down and opened the packet to enclose to my delight this time the packet was full almost to the top which ...

The Real McCoy!

Advantages: Strong Flavour!
Disadvantages: Smelly Breath!

...stand and there they were, McCoy's Cheddar & Onion, "screaming" at me to buy them and who am I to refuse? You must have seen these KP branded snacks on your travels to shops, supermarkets etc., In their easily recognisable gold and green foil packaging, which helps to retain freshness which can I just say, they do rather well. It's probably not a good idea not to have too near your nose when opening, the smell has been known to put some people ...
...the stronger the better is my motto. I can hardly wait before stuffing these into my mouth; the thick crinkle cut chips are loaded with lots of lovely cheesy artificial flavouring, it almost looks as if they are covered in a very strong cheese salt that just happens to be orange in colour, apparantley they have used paprika for colouring, which explains the colour! Bite into these good old fashioned strong chunky potato chips and you'll find them ...

Lets eat some Cheese, oh I mean Crisps...

Advantages: Nice and crunchy, filling
Disadvantages: Very Cheesey

I love McCoy’s crisps, they always remind me of pubs – a packet of Salt and Vinegar always goes down a treat after having a couple of drinks on a Sunday afternoon *yum*. However, when I went into the multi-bag today to get a bag, some little thief had taken the last bag! *Grumble*. Anyway, this means I am *forced* to eat a bag of the Cheddar Cheese and Onion flavour. There was no point in wasting the experience, hence the op! -=Packaging-= The ...

At the very bottom of the packet it says “Cheddar and Onion”. Well I guess that’s all you really need to know on the front of the packet isn’t it? -=Appearance=- The crisps are huge bits of potato that have been crinkle cut – even the “crumbs” are bigger than the average packet of crisps; in fact, I ...

Run your tongue along the ridge and taste the salt

Advantages: Strong flavour, filling
Disadvantages: You can't always find them, do they really need to use so much fat to produce them???

...you these are 'The Real McCoy's - Accept No Imitations.' It's turquoise on my bag anyway because I'm reviewing the Salt & Malt Vinegar flavour for you today - didn't I tell you? Well, I'm telling you now, OK? ...first class condition'. What? 251 cals and 14.5g fat??? Considering Walkers Salt & Vinegar crisps are 181 cals and 11.4g fat this seemed a huge amount, but then I checked Walkers website for a more similar type of crisp to McCoys and found their 'Max' range contains 289 cals and 18.2g fat. Given, the pack is slightly larger but the crisps are basically the same thing so they'd probably even out to the same nutritional value. And whatever way you ...

McCoys - Accept no imitations

Advantages: Really nice crisps
Disadvantages: Lots of calories

Well, I’m going to start with a bold statement if I might! I think McCoy’s (or ‘The Real McCoy’s’ as they are formerly known!) are the nicest crisps I have ever tried, and believe me, I’ve tried a few brands in my time. I purchased a multipack of nine 35g packets of these crisps, 3 Salt & Malt Vinegar flavour, 3 Cheddar & Onion flavour and 3 Flame Grilled Steak flavour. The multipack cost £1.18p from Tesco and was in a buy-one-get-one-free offer ...
...available from all supermarkets. The packaging is made from gold foil, bearing the brand name in white, on a blue strip. The front of the packet proclaims “Accept No Imitations”, although I’ve never seen any! The crisps are described as being ‘ridge cut potato chips’ as they are those nice ridged, thick ones. I’ll describe each flavour separately to make it easier to read. SALT AND MALT VINEGAR FLAVOUR: these crisps contain 175 calories, and 10.2g ...
