Advantages: No strict dress code, cheap food, always open. Disadvantages: Not the healthiest or cleanest places to eat.
It isn't often I venture into MacDonald's, but on a damp and grey Bank Holiday Monday, this I where I ended up. I really detest sitting there on yellow chairs watching my kids munching synthetic food, so please be assured this was a rare visit. Don't get me wrong, when I was my children's age and Macy D's first introduced itself into this country, I couldn't get enough of the place and nagged my poor mother into oblivion every weekend just to take ... ...wiser, my sensible head has kicked in and all I see is just how nutrionally bad the food really is, even though they try to come across as if this is healthy eating. So what is fast food exactly? When you are sitting on those uncomfortable plastic seats what else can you do but realise that I am meant to eat fast food fast. Most of the menu is already cooked and waiting for you to take off the shelf. You can pay, eat and go within 30 minutes. The ...

Back in the mid 1970s, there was a buzz going around about the newest ‘culinary’ (for want of a more appropriate word) indulgence from the USA. The subject of this buzz was none other than our now institutional McDonalds, which was standing in line, all set to enthral, and replace the scampi & chips in a basket 1970s pub food culture.
My dubious claim to fame regarding McDonalds was that my now late brother-in-law had installed the central heating ... ...huge yellow "M" outside, in the High Street of my then home town. The completion and opening of this new eating house was the first step down the path of architectural atrocity, culminating in the many ensuing eyesores that, over the decades, has turned the once rather elegant and tasteful High Street of my home town into a 10th rate conglomeration of depressing "pound shops", tatty "fun jewellery" outlets and penniless student buskers hanging around ...

“Oooooh, ‘ook! McDonalds!” cried Little Nephew in a frenzy of excitement, his Thomas The Tank Engine wellies overhanging his car seat and drumming on the dashboard. “Yes” sighed The Boyfriend and I indulgently. “McDonalds.” And then, “But we’re going to Savacentre, aren’t we?”. I hate ... ...sticky, unhealthy food and associate it with fun. The Boyfriend and I avoided hundreds of McDonalds as we trekked across Europe and I’ve only been in there once in about seven years. Until yesterday. A horrible wet bank holiday Monday, when we were down to babysit. Earlier in the week there’d been plans in place, we would go to the zoo in glorious sunshine. But we had no money, we needed food for dinner, The Boyfriend had taken an eternity over getting ...

McDonalds have tried to revitalise their unhealthy image. Despite introducing salads, this hasn’t been that successful in the fact that they contain more fat than a burger with all the toppings and dressings!
History: McDonalds was started by Ray Krock in 1955 in Illinois. Mac and Dick McDonald had made him the first franchisee. In 1974 The ... ...admitted that nobody went in and later decided to target children with TV advertising. It opened in the UK and has been expanding ever since. Yesterday I had a McDonalds hot dog. It looked rather strange (as if the 'bread roll' was made of plastic glazed with varnish), but it arrived at my table in 2 minutes flat, was hot and fresh, and tasted pretty darn good in a 'not real food' kind of way.
I really don't know if I like McDonalds or not. I just know that once in a while I need to eat NOW and I need to eat something that bears no resemblance to a fruit or a salad. So, because there's ... ...I find myself stopped at the drive-in talking to a customised speed camera.
Ten minutes later, I'm no longer hungry and can go off about my business feeling vaguely satisfied, a little dyspeptic and very unhealthy indeed. (An hour later I'm absolutely bloody starving again and craving something that has grown on a tree or in the ground).
Service: I find it's much better and quicker at the drive-in window than it is in the restaurant. If you queue ...

When I was kid I was always lured to the playground of McDonalds, with phrases like “should of got a watch from McDonalds”, and toys like those Frisbee UFO happy meals plus the train tables to have your 5th birthday party on. Then I grew up and my taste buds matured with the adulteration and emergence of Burger King and I realised Ronald McDonald was just too friendly with Gary Glitter for ... ...down the high street at midnight in a half-drunk state, you spot that glowing M sticking out in the distance, its like heaven is here and God is calling you in. Im going to start off by telling you that i work for Mcdonalds and have done for the past 4 years. Ok the pay isn't amazing but at least there are some advantages of working there. Firstly, lets get it straight, no spitting in burgers goes on at all. I don't know how many times i have been asked that question but the truth of the matter is that it doesn't happen. Consider it from our point of view. How would we feel if we did that, knowing that someone we knew ...

Advantages: Quick, accessible, kids love 'em Disadvantages: Bog standard fare, surly staff
Love it or loathe it, you can find a McDonalds in most places. When the kids are in the car and they spy that red McDonald's 'M' sign, my heart sinks as the chorus from the back pipes up "Dad, can we have a McDonald's pleeeaase" in the way that melts the hardest of hearts. Further well tested pleas of "We're starving" or "We feel sick" normally means they get their way.
I'm sure that Ronald McDonald puts some sort of additive in the food that for ... ...they do, it works, especially with my two. If I'm in a good mood and we have the time, we'll go inside and eat otherwise it's the Drivethru'.
With the latter, on too many occasions, we have had the wrong items, and if left too long the food goes cold quite quickly. Easy for mistakes to be made as this is a popular option, and if the food isn't immediately availalble you have to park up in specially designated areas for your 'grill order'.
Should ...

Before you read this article and think that I'm some kind of off-the-wall eco-warrior with messy hair, unshaved armpits and a penchant for tofu - let me just assure you: I'm not. I am a completely normal young woman who eats meat, wears deodorant, has too many pairs of shoes and can't afford to pay her credit card bill. But McDonald's somehow brings out the kooky hippy in me. I have gone to McDonald's many, many times in my life and each time emerged ... ...I recently found out that as well as having to worry about high cholesterol due to the meat being immersed in fat during cooking; the meat also contains traces of bone, spinal cord and faeces. That as well as faeces and fat, the delicious taste of that burger isn't the hormone packed meat that you're eating...it's all chemicals, designed to stimulate your olfactory senses and taste buds, telling your brain that what you're eating is delicious.

Advantages: Good choice of burgers, chicken etc Disadvantages: Service can be poor, quality not consistant, not for vegitarians
The first and perhaps most important point to make about McDonalds is that it is a franchise and that every McDonalds is owned by a different owner. Therefore, while generally the same in terms of type of food, there can often be a vast different in terms of quality and service.

McDonalds, or alternatively the spawn of Satan masquerading as a friendly (eh?) highstreet fast food outlet. There is little need to describe the horror of McDonalds to anyone reading this "op" as you are all undoubtedly aware just why McDonalds is loathed as you will all have I am sure visited it at least once. McCrap, Anyone?
McDonald’s. That lovely American franchise that took the entire world by storm. First came the hamburger joints all over the States – gay brick buildings with red and yellow “Golden Arches” outside to celebrate their existences. I have been enjoying meals at McDonalds, playing with my little toys, and laughing ah Ronald McDonald for many years now, and it is amazing how much things have changed since my earlier experiences! Advantages: ? Disadvantages: Wasteful, poor quality, advertising aimed at children.
I should begin by making it clear that I think McDonalds is a greedy, wasteful and poor quality multinational. Before I knew better I occassionally ate at McDonalds and must admit I was never very impressed (I preferred Wimpy but they have disappeared). I don't want to preach to people but it may be worth considering a few things before you visit McDonalds again.
Service
The stereotype of the greasy teenage halfwit working in a burger bar seems ... ...the staff try to hurry you out of the queue as quickly as possible (I suppose it is fast food), the place is often dirty with dangerous wet patches on the floor and often the staff get the order wrong (basically anytime it deviates from the norm, if you want a burger with no pickle you have to remove it yourself).
