MACLAREN – THE FERRARI OF PUSHCHAIRS

Advantages: Lightweight, easy to manoeuvre & collapse
Disadvantages: see op

Having just booked our summer holidays we didn't want to take our son, Christopher (who will be 10 months old when we travel) abroad with the travel system we are using just now as it is very bulky and heavy, which is not practical for our visit to Florida. It was still important to us that we had a high quality, safe and convenient stroller for Christopher, we wanted a buggy which would last us a few years of functional use, as we may well decide ...
...of use and convenience for ourselves were all important factors and after some investigations and advice from other parents, we looked at the Maclaren range of prams. MACLAREN - THE COMPANY The Maclaren story began in 1965 when Owen Maclaren, a former test pilot and aeronautical designer, designed and patented his prototype Baby Buggy. He had been involved in the design of the Spitfire fighter plane undercarriage before World War II and therefore ...

The TOTAL total low-down on the Maclaren Techno!

Advantages: Light; Compact; Easy to fold; Suitable from birth; Good quality
Disadvantages: Stability issues; Lack of storage; Not for uneven surfaces

**Background** I have owned my Maclaren Techno Classic for nearly two years so I think I know it pretty well now. We are buddies! I bought this buggy as an alternative to my Graco travel system after doing much research. It is an single umbrella stroller with two separate handles, a small basket, passenger foot rest and a sun canopy. I have two children who have both used this buggy. My daughter is now 2 years old and my son is 6 months old. **Specs** ...
...stroller, whilst still retaining some important features like a sun/rain canopy. It folds down in an umbrella style to a size - 43" by 11". This makes it easy to transport in smaller cars or by public transport. **Age range** The stroller is suitable from birth as it features *almost* fully reclining seats. I emphasise the word 'almost' because there is still a very slight gradient (maybe 10-15 degree angle), although in my opinion this is not ...

WICKED STROLLER REDUCED IN PRICE

Advantages: Lightweight yet sturdy, good appearance, lots of shopping space, good breaks, large hood
Disadvantages: It doesnt' come in PINK!

Maclaren Techno XT stroller – Storm At the weekend I acquired a new set of wheels, no not a new Audi convertible or Chrysler Voyager, but a Maclaren Techno XT Stroller and I LOVE IT! My husband thinks I’ve gone over the edge with spending as I currently have three other forms of infant transport in my possession. He really doesn’t understand just why I need another buggy, but I’ll tell you why I needed to buy it. This is a stroller. I currently ...
...The pram is bulky but is ideal for the buggy board on school runs. The tandem I use when I child mind and this too has been an invaluable piece of kit whilst my three ankle biters grew. As for my Chico umbrella type buggy, its absolute rubbish. I will write a review later on that horrendous item. I saw this stroller by chance on Saturday at my local Mothercare in Hayes. It was placed in the central display aisle for a reduced price. Normally this ...

The dreaded Mac is actually...fab!

Advantages: Large seat, high handles, large wheels, comfortable, sunshade
Disadvantages: Expensive, dull colours, recline mechanism isn't great

Well to be honest I had tried to resist the Maclaren for as long as I could, my son is now 2 and a half years old so I thought I had managed with the pushchairs that I have had but how wrong was I a holiday booking later and here I am with my shiny XT! I was on the market for something with a decent sized seat for my quite large son (he's about the size of a 3YO), folds to a smallish size and has height adjustable handles as I am 5ft 3 and my partner ...
...This ticked all the boxes as much as I hated to admit it. I had to give in and got one and so far I have to say I have been pleasantly surprised! Mine is the 06/07 model and I bought it from Ebay so can't comment on packaging or set up I'm afraid. Well mine came in a big box just folded as you would to put it in the boot etc on first inspection it is bigger than most umbrella folds but not massive just chunkier and longer,to unfold it was really ...

Maclaren Techno XT

Advantages: Light, manouverable
Disadvantages: small basket

I have had my New Maclaren Techno for 4 weeks(Isabelle 23/12/05) Isabelle is my 4th child and I have been through a variety of buggies and pushchairs - so I carefully researched - including this site - to make sure this time I got the right one. My criteria were, It must be... Easy to push - The maclaren is amazingly easy to push , its very light and very controllable Be comforatble for both me at 5'5 and My husband at 6' to push- I took Hubby ...
..., and He wizzed round the store with it - It has handles that you can change the height of to accomodate different people - very handy! Practical - obviously Isabelle is only little yet, so we haven't had to clean it yet - but it looks easy to clean and is practical - the seat is removable and washable. Have a good raincover - All of my previous pushchairs and buggies have had those HORRENDOUS raincovers that get in the way, won't fold up, won't ...

McLaren Techno XT buggy

Advantages: lightweight, Manoeuvrable
Disadvantages: quite expensive

I bought the Maclaren Techno XT buggy as a replacement for a cheaper model I had to return to store. I chose this particular model based on what I had heard of the brand name and also because it was light weight and appeared to be durable. The pushchair will last a family for many years as it is quite roomy and will grow with a child.. As it has a 4 position adjustable seat it can be used for a child from birth. My son likes to sit up and although ...
...him to sit semi upright in this buggy and take in the world as he pleases. It has suspension on both the front and the rear wheels that make it very easy to push as well as swivel/ lockable wheels. I don't use the lockable facility as this makes the pushchair difficult to turn. The only use I have found for the lockable wheels is for going over a cattle grid! The handles are also moveable on height levels so that the height can be asjusted depending ...

Pure luxury COMPLETELY RE-WRITTEN

Advantages: Lots See op
Disadvantages: Expensive

Have you seen how many pushchairs there are out there to buy? There are just thousands! Some cheap, some hilariously expensive, the Maclaren Techno is priced at £160. Although some stores have been selling them for £80! Bargain! Well, I bought mine from Mothercare, for £160 (Sucker!) After a lot of thinking, and a lot of messing around with all the pushchairs, I put Rebecca in them to see how she liked them, if she was comfortable, I also folded ...
...you ever tried to fold a buggy in one hand while holding a wriggly baby in the other? It’s a fine art I can tell you lol! The Techno filled my criteria – it was easy to fold/open, sturdy, had a little window in the hood to see what your little monkey/angel is up to, it has padded straps, ultimate comfort for your baby, and most important, Rebecca thought it was good too! Oh, and it will fold up with a cosytoes on – unlike others, ...

MacLaren Techno XT - Great Pushchair

Advantages: Easy to fold and unfold, reclining back, good storage, lightweight, folds to compact size.
Disadvantages: Little bit pricey.

We bought this pushchair as we needed something easy to travel with. We bought it when our baby was just 3 months old and I was due to take him abroad for the first time on my own. The main reason for choosing this pushchair was the one handed option to get it up and down. I bought the pushchair without trying it, we bought it from an online retailer trusting all the positive reviews we´d read about it. Can I just say I love this pushchair. There´s ...
...I´ll try and list them all here: Handle height is adjustable. Perfect for my hsuband and I. I am 5ft 1in and hubby is over 6ft so having a pushchair with non-adjustable handles is a no, no for us! The back of the pushchair reclines to 4 or 5 different settings meaning that your child can practically lie down flat. this is perfect if you intend to use this pushchair as your main pushchair or will be having your child in it for hours and hours at ...

A great stylish buggy

Advantages: Lightweight , comfy and stylish!
Disadvantages: Small shopping basket, easily tips up with lots of shopping ung on back!

This buggy is extraordinary. At about £120 its not cheap and cheerful. I have used this with my first born who is now 3yrs. She was in it from about 18 months old and found it very comfy. The pushing was easy for me to, the swivel wheels and lightweight aspect made this really popular and at the time the shopping bags on the back of the pushchair didnt prove to be a problem. However i kept the buggy and used it with my newborn, she was comfy and ...
...a heavy bag on the back and it was unstable, you couldnt take a hand off the buggy of it would tip! Not good!! The shopping basket was so small it was useless frankly! The pockets on the back of the hood were handy and the hood itself was stylish with a good viewing window. Raincover was easy to put on and folded nice and small for the basket, just aswell really!! I attached a buggy board for my 3 year old which was fine and the extra posistions ...

The only buggy you'll ever need!

Advantages: Lighweight, compact, suitable from birth, lots of handy feaures, looks good!
Disadvantages: It's light weight means it is easy to tip up if you hang too many shopping bags from the handles

...always end up buying a Mclaren as well. I laughed off her words, but they couldn't have been more true! We looked everywhere and tried out lots of different buggies, but kept going back to teh Mclaren Techno. The main reasons I like it were that It was light and it looked good. I'm being honest! It also felt much more durable than our Pramette, had a handy viewing window in the hood, so i could keep an eye on my little girl. It also had a handy ...
...my purse and mobile close to hand, without having to root around in my bag every time. It also had enough room in teh shopping basket for most baby essentials. To be honest we weren't looking to pay more than £100 but felt that this buggy was worth the £150 price tag. I wasn't wrong. 6 months down the line and I still love it. It also still looks and feels like new. Hopefully we'll have a new addition to the family in then next 12 months when we ...

Maclaren Techno-a good buy but shop around

Advantages: lightweight, folds very small, can be used from birth
Disadvantages: tips over in strong wind, baby can only face outwards

We bought this buggy as our existing pram is great but takes up too much room in the car for holidays, etc. It is a well designed, lightweight buggy which fits into the boot of my tiny Daihatsu. You can put it up and collapse it with one hand, and it has a useful carrying handle. We have been using the Maclaren since our baby was three months, and she seems quite cosy in it. It is a shame that small babies have to face away from you in it, but I ...
...buggies. There is a useful window on the hood which allows you to check on the baby whilst walking. It is very easy to manoeuvre and the adjustable handle height is useful if both you and your partner wish to use it comfortably. The shopping basket underneath the buggy is quite small, but don't be tempted to hang shopping on the handlebars as this can cause the buggy to tip backwards. It also tipped over in a strong wind on one occasion, although ...

A dream of a pushchair

Advantages: Suitable from birth
Disadvantages: none for me

I purchased my mcclaren xt stroller from Mothercare 2 years ago, I put a lot of thought into which pushchair I would buy as I didnt want to make a costly mistake,my pushchair had to be suitable from birth as i didnt want to buy a travel system I knew i wouldnt use, this one lies totally flat, with about 4 other lay-back levels available, it had to be easy enough to fold up with a new born baby in one arm ,this is just that and it locks together with ...
...as I dont drive so it needed to fold easily for bus journeys. It has the option of static or swivel wheels at the touch of a lever, the seat cover is washable a necessary thing especially now my son is a toddler, the 5 point harness is very easy to use but too difficult for small fingers.I really like the visor in the hood to easily check on your child.there are several colour combinations mine is red and grey with silver high visibility stripes, ...

every mother needs one!

Advantages: lightweight
Disadvantages: very open!

after struggling with four buggies including a travel system and pram i finally found my buggy heaven. a macaren techno is lightweight and compact and offers durability value for money and great manuverability. even with heacvy shopping and a baby this buggy is good in all circumstances. the raincover is excellent and leaves no excess cover to drag on the floor and get caught under the wheels as so many do. it is easy to apply and very easy to store ...
...small, but the handles are strong and sturdy and make for good shopping hangers! the footmuff is very cosey and easily detachable. the only downside for me was that after having a newborn in a car seat it didnt seem as snugg and body close and maybe a bit too open for my liking. but never the less, even with a sxcreaming toddler in tow i still have my trusty friend and wouldnt be without it. ...

speedy kids!

Advantages: compact, fast and thin!
Disadvantages: can be tipped and wriggled out of.

ive had a maclaren techno since thier release in mothercare( apporx 2 years) and ive only ever had one real problem with it. they are fast and safe to use, with a great harness and easy to recline seat. there is also the option of extending the leg rest which is great for the smaller babies. it comes with a basket and raincover, which are the two essentials these days, but i would recommend a really good cosy toes aswell just for warmth and to cover ...
...with mine is that the back wheels can wear unevenly and may need replacing afte alot of use, but this is after alot of use! great for the car, i can even getmine infront of my boys seats in the back if the boot is full. My smallest son has used it since 9 months and is only now at 3 willing to give it over to his little cousain who comes along for rides. great buy, well worth it for the grandparents and fantastic on buses/trains etc. ...

Best so far...

Advantages: Great all round! Read for more info!
Disadvantages: None

Being a mother of 3, I have had many buggies. When my middle child was born I decided to get a Maclaren Techno. I had had enough of bulky travel systems, I had one with my eldest son and it was awkward to get up and down stairs and heavy too. Well when my Maclaren Techno arrived for my, then, 2 month old son, I was so impressed with it! I think the first thing I did was put it together and get my baby and put him straight in it. Did he like it? ...
...outside and I think he stayed asleep for about 2hrs in it! I gotta say that the buggy has been my favourite so far. I still use it, not for my son though, I have a 12 week old daughter who I take out in it when i'm not using my Maclaren Twin Traveller (another firm favourite). For an umbrella fold buggy it's one of very few that lies completly flat (from what I've found) and it's very comfortable for a little baby as it comes complete with padded ...
