Just hobnobbing around!

Advantages: Tasty and good to dunk
Disadvantages: none

I have to admit that I do have rather a liking for most biscuits - probably far too much of a liking as far as my waistline is concerned! Also, in my opinion, if you have a mid morning or afternoon cup of tea and it isn't accompanied by at least one biscuit, then something is seriously lacking! And a further thought as far as my biscuit habits are concerned - I am a bit of a dunker! So, any biscuit I choose to have with my coffee has to pass the ...
...recently rediscovered McVities Chocolate Hobnobs, a biscuit I was very fond of in my early twenties but obviously discarded during one of my numerous diets. I had definitely forgotten how good they tasted - probably too good as i shall want to eat more than just one! The Hobnobs I have been eating come in a round cardboard tube with a plastic lid to seal in the freshness - an excellent idea although totally unnecessary in our house as a packet of ...

who ate all the biscuits? oh, thats me then..

Advantages: thick, chocolatey, perfect for tea dunkin, delicious
Disadvantages: crumbly and they like tea! as much as I do!

~~Miss Piggy~~ Firstly, I'm a terrible junk food eater, I get urges for things like chocolate cornflake cakes from Sainsbury's, Philadelphia cheese with Pringles, maltesers etc, which last a month, but ill eat constantly that one favourite thing during that time. My latest food of choice for a night in front of the tv is chocolate hobnobs, these precise ones in fact. They are so yummy, I have trouble sharing them with my boyfriend and hog them ...
...a whole packet to myself. ~~Dunkin'~~ Everyone has to write something about the dunk test, after all, this is the point of chocolate biccies, no? I might be slightly biased, but I think these biscuits are the best ones to dunk, but then I only like chocolate covered things to put in my tea so I couldn't vouch for them all! Hobnobs are thick and nobbly (strange that) with a decent coverage of milk chocolate on top. I like to get a good dunk in ...

My favorite nibble

Advantages: Tasty chocolatey and delicious
Disadvantages: High in calories

Milk Chocolate Hobnobs There's certain times of the day when I like to sit down and have a cup of coffee with a biscuit, times like when my favorite soaps are on the tele, or times when I just like to have a break from doing the gardening. I think tea and biscuit times are for relaxing as well as being a British thing we all seem to do. Now if your like me you will be partial to a good biscuit, not a super duper saver biscuit from the bettabuy or ...
...warrants the time you have taken off to devote to yourself and favorite programme or chill out time. If your like me you'll love Hobnobs and especially love the chocolate one's. Hobnobs are of course made by McVities who we all know make excellent different ranges of goodies and yummy things to eat. The chocolate Hobnobs are just like the ordinary hobnons but have a thick layer of delicious milk chocolate covered over the one side of the crunchy ...

Hob this Nob

Advantages: they are so yummy
Disadvantages: I eat far too many at once

I’ve just eaten the last chocolate-covered Hob Nob from a packet which has taken me exactly two days to eat. I actually feel fairly guilty as I’ve already eaten a couple of slices of Pizza and a Chupa Chup. I justify it in that I went to Boxfit tonight. But that still means I’ve eaten an extra 1250 calories in two days. Oh bugger it, its all in the name of Ciao! *** The Tub *** McVities Milk Chocolate Hob Nobs come in a blue cylindrical tub with ...
...written in huge white letters. There’s also McV written in big white letters as well. I’m guessing that’s the companies attempt at being cool. America has J.Lo; Great Britain has McV. The back of the pack contains all the info stuff as per usual. I won’t write out every ingredient because its pointless. There doesn’t seem to be any unnatural additions to the recipe so that’s good. However, minor gripe, in that it doesn’t say whether they’re suitable ...

Perfect family favourite to go hobnobbing with.

Advantages: very moorish, oaty taste balances chocolate perfectly
Disadvantages: each biscuit 76 cals, blow the diet! one is never enough.

McVities chocolate Hobnobs are a family favourite in our house. I buy them for my husband and if we're not careful, he eats the lot. They are approx 6 cm in diameter and covered in a layer of milk chocolate which for me balances perfectly with the oaty taste of the hobnob, stopping the biscuit being too crumbly or dry. The chocolate does tend to have a tendancy to melt in the hot months, so I put ours in the fridge in summer which makes the biscuits ...

Hobnobbing with the King of Biscuits

Advantages: Nice taste, texture and nearly crumb free!
Disadvantages: Hmm nope, can't think of any!

So it's another snack based review from me...yeah I reckon I eat too much of this stuff, but it tastes so good! Anyway, ahhh Choco-late Hob-nobs...These have been around a while now but I still believe that they are my favorite biscuity style treat. They used to come in a normal blue biscuit packet but, "the times they are a changing" and these days they come in this funky new tub thing. The tub is foil sealed and also means you can keep your biccies ...
...a tin. Money of course which could be spent on more Hobnobs! Hurrah! These Chocolate Hobnobs will cost you just under £1 from most supermarkets and boy howdy, it's money well spent! Right so now to test drive the Hobnobs. First of all I made myself a nice cup of tea. Not a normal cup of tea, a NICE cup of tea. Mmm nice. Anyway armed with my cup of tea I set 4 chocolate hobnobs beside it, to represent the 4 seasons of the year, obviously. I then ...

McVities Choc Hobnobs - They Have Oats In - Must Be Good For You!

Advantages: Quality ingredients
Disadvantages: High in calories and sugar

==McVities Chocolate Hobnobs== I do not usually buy these but when I went into a nearby Sainsbury's recently they were on offer - they were half price. So as they have quite a long best before date I stocked up (roughly 6 months grace). The reason I don't like to buy them is that they are sooo moreish. You can easily get carried away. ===What are they like?=== Well they are available in both plain and milk chocolate and there is also a more expensive ...
...suppose to help keep the biscuits fresh. The thing is in our house they never hang around that long! These are an essentially 'oat' biscuit topped with chocolate. The packaging has recently changed to a predominently orange colour, so if you haven't bought them in a while you could miss them on the shelf. On a positive note they state that they do not contain any artificial preservatives or colours. ==Opinion== These are a quality product. They are ...

King of the 'Dunkers'

Advantages: They are delicious!
Disadvantages: Not the cheapest biscuits around

Anyone who has seen Peter Kay live in the UK will remember his famous HobNob sketch - this biscuit is king of the 'dunkers', no falling apart at the mere sight of a cuppa for these bad boys! McVities milk chocolate HobNobs take some beating as far as chocolate biscuits are concerned. They are not cheap, usually retailing at over £1 unless you are fortunate enough to find them on offer - if you do find them on offer, stock up on them as they usaully ...

Come on get yer oats

Advantages: Tasty, crunchy and very dunkable
Disadvantages: None it's a biscuit

I like a biscuit to be one which will stand the test of a good dunk without falling to pieces or half it ending up in the cup. There are fortunately enough quite a few which fall into the suitable category, but few that come fully up to scratch and can withstand a good solid dunk. One which does pass this test though is the humble Hobnob. I say humble in the nicest way since it is by no means the best biscuit in the world, but it's dunking qualities ...
...solid biscuit and very filling, and the addition of chocolate has greatly improved the original non chocolate version, which in itself was still a decent biscuit. The Hobnob is made by McVities who are perhaps the premier biscuit maker in Britain, or at least produce some of our national favourites, and have done for many years. It is an oats based biscuit which is very similar to oatcakes but at least twice as thick and very much more sweeter. ...

Review of Mcvitie´s Milk Chocolate Hobnobs

I'll be hobnobbing down the gym then tomorrow

Advantages: gorgeous
Disadvantages: expensive, bad for you.

I rarely buy biscuits, but when I was browsing round Sainsburys earlier and saw Hobnobs on special offer I couldn't resist. Normally they retail at around £1.10 per 300g packet, and at this price I can easily walk past. However seeing piles and piles of them screaming half price at me, I was instantly drawn to the packets. Milk chocolate hobnobs have to be my ultimate favourite biscuit, but I will resist them for both the price reason and also because ...
...left out of pocket and then serious guilt trips to the gym needed. You get around 16 biscuits per 300g packets (yes I counted them), each the size of the diameter of a half pint glass. As I try to rip open the packet using the supposedly easy to open red strip that has to be peeled off. (I bought the traditional packet not the tube of biscuits). Hey who cares about the packaging when you have yummy contents inside! There's nothing classy or superior ...

A healthy breakfast

Advantages: Chocolate, good for dunking, taste fab
Disadvantages: Nothing at all..really!

Ok so they probably aren't anyone else's idea of a healthy breakfast but I have decided that if oaty porridge is suitable then why not oaty biscuits? These are my favourite biscuits and somehow the value pack (500g of nobbly yumminess for £1.49) manages to jump into my trolley every week whilst doing the shopping. I wish I could pretend that I even make them last all week...I don't. I bought a new pack yesterday and they will be gone by tonight. ...
...someone made a mistake, just incase you get a misleading packet too here is the correct info: Calories per biscuit- 0 (so long as no-one sees you) Carbs pb- 10g Fibre pb-10g Fat pb- 0g (right think that just about protects everyone from consumer guilt) So what do they actually taste like? Thankfully much better than they look (see appearance below). You can really taste the oats and the rough texture enhances this, they don't taste overtly ...

No take them away I will get fat

Advantages: They taste yummy
Disadvantages: Once you have had one you will want another

It was that time of the week again, the time to go shopping. Its a hot Sunday and I would rather be sunning myself outside than walking around a suppermarket with a trolley with a mind of its own. We hadn't made a list which is always dangerous. That is the time you put things in your trolley which you think you want but you don't really. A large packet of Mcvities milk chocolate hobnobs was one of those items. I haven't had a packet of hobnobs ...
...boyfriend. Before I could argue a big value pack was placed in the trolley. We got home and unpacked the shopping. All night those biscuits were calling to me and in the end I gave into them. As I said we got a big value pack. 500g. The packet was very appealing. A shinny blue with a lovely picture of one of the biscuits with a piece missing (no it wasn't me) At the end of the packet was yellow with Big Value Pack written on it. We brought them ...

Perfect biscuit

Advantages: delicious, yummy, chocolatey, oaty, perfect for dunking
Disadvantages: a little pricey, probably not very good for you

This review was inspired by finding a packet of McVities Hobnobs in the biscuit tin in my work. I can normally resist most biscuits, but this is an exception. It was only 9.30 and already half the biscuits in the packet had gone, so I knew I had to get in there fast before the others disappeared. (By lunchtime they had all, rather predictably, been scoffed). On biting into it, the chocolate coating melts in your mouth, making a great contrast to ...
...dunking in tea or coffee. Some scientists at Bristol University have been studying the phenomenon of biscuit dunking intensely: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/220400.stm Dunking releases 10 times more flavour than eating a biscuit on its own. Apparently the best way to dunk is to immerse the biscuit flat on, with the chocolate side up. This stops the chocolate melting into the tea, and should stop your biscuit becoming too moist, so that ...

HobNobbly Goooood

Advantages: A troper for dunking
Disadvantages: Rather messy in bed.

Time the i purchased a packet of these bad boys - 4.38am. I was hungers as ever and needed something to fill that gap for a quid otherwise i thought i would pass right out in the middle of a very empty dark road. Stumbling towards a bright light i blearly eyed out that it was infact a newsagent! thank the lords something was open on my journey home! Realising i wanted something sweet yet not too sickly i turned straight to the biscuits.....scouring ...

These were packaged in well erm....a light bright blue plastic cyclinder wrapper that said "mcvities Hob Nobs milk choclate" on the side. Have they changed the mighty Hob Nob

Advantages: Great Texture, Ease of Handling & Great Flavour
Disadvantages: Slightly more expensive than Chocolate Digestives

Recently I bought a packed of McVities Milk Chocolate Hob Nobs. (A very good 2 for 1 offer at Morrisons supermarket!)These are one of my favorite biscuits, but the cost in comparison with Plain Chocolate Digestives have meant that they are in-frequently on my shopping list. My memories of lazy Saturday afternoons watching Grandstand with a packet of Hob Nobs and a pot of tea came flooding back and I settled down to enjoy the experience. At the time ...
...packaging of the biscuits. When I opened up the foil for freshness seal I noticed that the biscuits seemed to be smaller than usual. On inspection i was sure that the diameter had been reduced, not only that though!!! On visual inspection only (I didn't have any old Hob Nobs to measure against), it seemed that they were thicker. This did not deter me from taking a taste test and I was very pleased to discover that the taste of the biscuit had not ...
