Medela Mini Electric Breast Pump

AdvantagesQuick, convenient, different speeds for different stages

DisadvantagesNoisy!!

"...care. I had already bought the Medela Electric breast pump, I knew I would be going back to work after a short time and I knew if at all possible that I wanted to breastfeed. When my milk had still not come in 5 days after Aleyna's birth (she was on a serum drip in the incubator so no milk for her at that stage), with a little help from the midwife I decided to focus on getting my milk supply going in order to give her the best start if and ..." COULD NOT DO WITHOUT IT!

AdvantagesEASY TO USE AND QUICK

DisadvantagesIT IS NOISY, DOES'NT DRAIN MILK COMPLETELY

"...TIME CONSUMING. I THEN FOUND THE MEDELA ELECTRIC BREAST PUMP, MY SAVIOUR!!! I CANNOT BELIEVE IT IS THE ONLY ELECTRIC ONE THAT I HAVE SEEN ON THE MARKET, BUT HEY, IT'S A START. MEDELLA ALSO SELL A MUCH LARGER ELECTRIC PUMP, MUCH LIKE THE ONE YOU MAY HAVE USED IN YOUR HOSPITAL. IT MORE EXPENSIVE, BUT AN OPTION IF YOU NEED IT. I HAVE NOT USED THAT ONE, SO AM UNSURE HOW GOOD/LOUD IT IS. IT'S TRUE THAT THERE IS ONLY A SMALL BOTTLE PROVIDED. I ..." Read review

Pump, pump, pump - but no milk!

AdvantagesSmall and easy to handle

DisadvantagesBreast cup not big enough, noisy and the suction was very weak, expensive

"I'm sure if you have a smaller breast then this might be a good pump for you, but having my breasts swell to a 42J cup this did nothing for me at all. I found the breast cup piece did not sit well at all and the suction was terrible. It didn't hug the breast as well as a hand held version nor did it pump quick enough to really get a good flow of milk going. It also makes quiet a loud noise when pumping so you have to do it in a room where your baby ..." Read review

Excellent Results!!

AdvantagesEXCELLENT SUCTION

DisadvantagesCOST

"...I decided to by the Medela from Boots. Its not difficult to put together, infact it has less bits than the Avent. The nerve wracking bit was putting your nipple into something which you think is going to pull it to about 4 inches long. But I must admit it didn't, once you start on the lowest suction and work your way up you realise how easy it is. And the results.. well 6-70z in about 5 minutes without any hassle or tears! OK it is noisy, but ..." Read review

Nice and easy!!!!!!

AdvantagesNo more tired hands

DisadvantagesCould be quieter

"I have used the hand held breast pumps before and found that they alwasy break on me. I can also never get enough milk from them. With my last baby I decided to spend the extra money and purchase a meleda mini electric breast pump. It cost me £42.95 from Boots and worth every single penny. It is so easy to use. When you first take it out of the box you look at it and think 'oh my god. What do i do here?' But once you get used to how it goes together ..." Read review

Cheaper In The Long Run.

AdvantagesQuick & Easy To Use, Comfortable

DisadvantagesSmall Bottle included

"...some money and bought the Medela Electronic Breast Pump, I found it really easy to put together and take apart which is essential for cleaning the pump. Once I had plugged it in to the mains and was on my way I was amazed by how much milk I managed to express. The only down side was that the bottles provided are a bit on the small side, and the machine is quite noisy ! I would efinately recomend this pump to anyone thinking of expressing their breast ..." A reliable product just when you need one

Advantagesdoes the job quickly and easily

Disadvantagesnoisy

"Hand pumping is virtually impossible- especially following a c-section, when the slightest muscle movement can be painful. I used this pump with both my children and it saved our lives. Its very easy to sterilise and clean with no awkward nooks and crannies. True it is noisy, (the noise use to put my babies to sleep!) but it has a good strong suction, making expressing relatively quick and easy. You need to be careful about positioning, but once ..." Comfortable and Easy to use

AdvantagesEasy to use, has batteries as well as a plug, different speeds, efficient

DisadvantagesNoisy

"I used this product for three months while I was breastfeeding my little boy. I was able to express enough milk to feed him if I was out for the day or was going to work. I found it really easy to use and was able to express milk at the end of each fed. I was suprised at the amount of milk it was able to extract. The different speed settings were useful as I could adapt it depending on how tender my breasts were at the time. Being able to either plug ..." Read review

Buy earplugs then enjoy life with your newborn!

Advantagesreasonable price, easy to use

Disadvantagesnoisy

"...so decided to give the Medela mini electric pump a try. It was wonderful. I got twice as much milk from this as from the hand pump and it took half the time. Although it is a noisy machine and is therefore not really suitable for night-time expressing (unless you live in a detached house or have very understanding neighbours!) during the day the results are fantastic. This allowed me (or indeed her dad) to still give my daughter a great start without ..." Read review

A must have for anyone wishing to express milk!

AdvantagesQuick and easy milk expression

DisadvantagesA bit noisy

"...ache after a while. The medela mini electric is so easy, all you have to do it either plug it in or put batteries in and then turn it on and hold it to your breast. Although I do recomend starting on the slowest setting and working your way up throughout the time you express! It takes me 10-15 mins to express about 5 floz which I think is quite quick and leaves me more time to do all the other stuff I have to do! Quite easy to clean although please ..." Read review

The Only Breast Pump To Use

AdvantagesQuick and easy to use

DisadvantagesThe bottle supplied is quite small

"...to use I bought a Medela electric pump before my second daughter was born. I started using it when she was 1 week old and was expressing good amounts of milk easily within days. It is easy to put together, easy to clean and reasonably quiet. The greatest advantage of all was I was able to breastfeed at the same time. This produced double the amount of milk in half the time. It came with spares and a sealing disc so I could put my milk straight ..." Read review

Medela Mini Electric

Advantageseasy for working mums expressing - stopped me getting RSI

Disadvantagesthe noise

"...not have survived without my medela mini electric. Which i bought from the local thuiszorg shop.. with a discount (as i joined their club to cut on costs) for about 35 euros. As i was exclusively breastfeeding my son even when he was at daycare (aged 3 months to 9 months) i started with a manual pump but found i was developing RSI from the repetitive movement. I had originally rented the larger (less portable) solution when i had problems lactating ..." Read review

A vicious little machine

AdvantagesLess work than a manual pump

DisadvantagesLarger ladies need not apply

"This pump may suit some mothers, but it's not for everyone. Its cone doesn't fit well on a large, engorged breast. It doesn't have a soft insert (as some pumps do) to massage the breast - it relies on pure suction. The result is that some women, especially those whose breasts are already damaged and sore, may find it rather brutal. If you know another mother who has used one, do try it before you buy it - or investigate the possibilities of hiring ..." Read review
