I have now had my budgie for over a month now. My sister received the 9 week year old budgie as a birthday present complete with a cage and equipment. She was happy to receive the budgie. Taking care of a budgie is not that difficult as you think. The first few weeks are quite difficult. In this opinion I will give members advice on looking after budgies. °Brief History° ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I do not now that much about budgies but from my knowledge I think budgies were found and originally came from Australia while they were living in flocks and searching for food. The common name for a budgie is ... more

You wouldn't think it would you? Stoney faced old cynic me has a budgie. Actually we have two of them and while they're the first that Mrs TheNeil has had, I've grown up with them (not these two obviously) and learnt a thing or two along the way. Like most people i started with two budgies in a cage indoors, but as my interest grew i decided to build an aviary. I now have just over a hundreds budies and have found that like us they have their own little community. Over the years i have seen many different personalities emerge, there was one male budgie that i had that would feed any baby when it came out and would travel from box to box feeding all the young. I have ... more

Advantages Advantages they talk to you

We got our budgie 4 years ago when he was just a baby budgie. He was one of a few in the cage at the petshop and I had to look carefully at which one I wanted to take home. There was one that looked a bit more interested than the others and was playing with a feather- so we chose him. Discussion on the way home about a name. A lot of people call their budgies Joey or Billy and we wanted something different. There was this little blue and white bird in a cardboard box, scratching at the corner as we drove along. We named names...Finally we came up with the name "Harry" and he chirped. We saw ... more
