Advantages Advantages Good for talking obviously

Disadvantages Disadvantages We are still not sure whether it causes cancer but there is a high chance that it does.

What is it all about then? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The controversy involving the use of mobile phones may affect our lives in the days to come. The questions we should be asking ourselves should be “are we in any eminent danger”? In 1999, the U. S Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) made a statement, which is as follows: “The scientific evidence does not allows us to conclude that mobile phones are absolutely safe… or that they are unsafe”. Hmm, despite the amount of research that FDA has conducted, they still have not come up with anything concrete. The ... more

??? DO WE REAALLLY KNOW ??? ************************* The 'Daily Telegraph' produced an article that supports this opinon! Apparently rail commuters are at high risk from mobile phone radiation (from voice, texting and internet accessing) which is approaching DANGER LEVELS due to signals bouncing around inside carriages. The whole population seems to be using cell phones, well it seems that way when you are out and about, are there any problems with using the cell phone I ask myself? More and more scientists are studying cordless and cell-phones for the resultant problems people may encounter ... more

I don't really know much about the radiation that mobile phones irradiate, but I don't think that many people REALLY do. I think that no where near enough research has been done to draw valid conclusions. As a scientist, you need some pretty conclusive proof one way or the other, and from what I have seen, there is evidence for and against the case, making it difficult to decide one way or the other. Sure, mobile phones are probably bad for your health, but so is passive smoking, or indeed getting hit by a bus! Sorry to be a pessimist, but one day, something is going to kill you. It is ... more

Advantages Advantages Latest status on mobile phones and health

Disadvantages Disadvantages still doesn't have the full facts (but is the best source as we can get)

The Carphone Warehouse is currently the only UK site (I can find) which carries a wealth of health information relating to mobile phones. There are other sources of radation figures from (already mentioned in opinions from ciao): http://www.cellular.co.za/health/radiationgsmphonea-to-z.htm and another source from CNET: http://www.cnet.com/wireless/0-1923401-7-3583905.html The Carphone Warehouse guide is quite impartial (considering this is a mobile phone retailer!), stating the facts of known research and is very comprehensive. But the article is quite tricky to find on the site, and is not ... more

The question of mobile phone safety is going to continue for a long time yet, mainly because no-one knows whether there is a health risk associated with them, or whether they are perfectly safe to use. We have come a long way down the road as to studies into mobile phone safety, and yet most people are none the wiser as to the risks involved. I will hold my hands up straightaway that I have my own mobile phone. I have a mobile for a reason though, this reason being that I run my own business and need to have a contact number for people to get hold of me when I am out on jobs or I happen to be ... more

Being a Teenager myself i know that many people have mobile phones, i have one myself and so do many of my friends. and aspect of the health risks which is not usually brought up is that of how the radiation could affect an adolescent's health. could this radiation damge me? or my younger sister? do i use my mobile enough for there to be a problem. the main thing that bothers me is that even if there isnt a risk (as many people are now saying) i was never warned that there could be when i purchased my mobile phone. I think that the companies who sell mobile phones should distribute warnings ... more

All of the government / independent research seems to have proved little either way in determining whether or not mobiles are harmful to your health. Some opinions have cited microwaves and monitors as other, more widespread, sources of similar types and strengths of radiation, and this is not incorrect. People, and I'm one of them, often get mild headaches after staring blankly at a monitor for a few hours (often at work! :-), and it's unlikely that these pains are caused by eye-strain. However, screens and microwaves aren't as close to the user as mobile phones are. I have to say I'm ... more

This is a new age where instead of phoning people from your house you can phone them wherever you want.People often slag it off but we wouldn't get through our lives without them. Radiation is a concern as half the kids in the U.K have one. We dont want our kids having permanent brain damage when they're 19. allot of tests have been run by mobile networks and safety management companies all with varied results. until I find some proof that mobile phones produce a dangerous amount of Radiation I will still see mobiles as harmless. ... more

If everything the everyday public uses has been tested so carefully then why on earth do we still have these questions over radiation emitted from mobile phones? It has been interesting to hear the many different versions of the problems caused by these innocent-looking phones.Yet, while all this is going on there are still thousands of mobiles being produced everyday-why?Instead of the main object being research into the questions over the safety it's into how to make them easier to use, more appealable and more advanced. This is one of the many items of proof showing the government's lack of ... more

Advantages Advantages I can't list every advantage of a mobile-there's too many!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Apparently they can be health damaging

Why is there so much contradicting advice concerning the use of mobile phones? One minute we are told to use hands free kits as they reduce the risk of radiation harm. Next we are told that these hands free kits can sdo more harm than good and we are advised to stay away from them. But niow, once again we are told that hands free kits are safe. I've just about heard enough. No matter what I'm told about the dangers of mobile phone use I'm not going to give mine up. It's the only way to keep up communications with everyone wherever you are. And now not only can I call people and send them text ... more
