Advantages Advantages Freedom of expression, can look lovely if its the right one for you.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Costly to remove, can be painful, can take a while to heal.

Advantages Advantages can be something that means a lot to you

    Disadvantages Disadvantages can mean nothing

*** Intro Let me start by saying, I have two tattoos, one is just below my knickers line and is about the size of a 50pence piece, it’s a small ‘A’ in swirly lettering and below it is the outline of a small heart. I got this when I was 18 on impulse, and as much as I thought I’d regret it, I don’t, I still like it. Most of all I like it because it is tucked away. So I don’t always have to look at it. Not every one can see it etc. You may wonder why I got the letter ‘A’, 1. My name is Amy 2. My name will always be Amy, so I will never have to get the tattoo changed! 3. I was scared when I went ... more

5 Stars Tattoo for you Sir... Review with images 05/10/2006

    Advantages Advantages Looks good...personal choice

Disadvantages Disadvantages can be done in a rush

I wanted to post a quick review on this topic just to give my opinion on getting and having tattoos. I don't think there is any point on giving a full blown account on how to get one and what to do as there are a few here already that cover it very well (Playgirl27: A 50th Review Tattoo, Tattoo, Tattoo With Playgirl) for example. So this is just some advice from me from experience and things I have picked up along the way. I have had four tattoos now and like you may hear, it is addictive. The first was a sort of tribal band around my right arm just above the t-shirt line. I got his done in ... more

Advantages Advantages can look great and is a talking point,

Disadvantages Disadvantages its for life so be careful, slightly painful and uncomfortable while it heals

Ok I chickened out of the tongue piercing idea, but did get the tattoo done. Tattooing is obviously something that needs alot of thought, as once its done the only way to get rid of it would be lazering and its an expensive and often ineffective way to hide them leaving scars worse than the original tattoo. Personally I had been considering getting a tattoo for the last 4 or 5 years, my ideas swerved between, seahorses, an octopus or tribal style design. In the end I decided on the seahorses as so many people have tribal designs these days and I had never seen some one with a seahorse, except ... more

    Advantages Advantages Can look stunning

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Can look awful

I have 3 tattoos and 1 piercing, all collected over the past few years. It seems to me that a lot of "pop stars" ie Robbie Williams & Mel C (sporty spice) are high profile media figures that do not hide the fact that they have tattoos. Unfortunately this gives the impression that tattoos are a fashion accessory, which they certainly aren't. What I would say to anyone considering a tattoo is :- 1) Make sure you are doing it for the right reasons, a British bulldog might look cool now, but in 20 years time whose to say. 2) Take a long time to decide want design you want, read books, magazines ... more

Advantages Advantages Can rub them off whenever you like, and try something new.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Only last a week or so.

I have made a vow to myself never to do anything to my body which is permanent, so I would never have a tattoo done. I'm also allergic to pain, so having a needle shoved under my skin in order to inject minute quantities of ink several hundred times does not appeal to me in the slightest. The only thing I've ever had done is earrings, which is socially acceptable everywhere and you don't have to drop your trousers to show them off. So if you're like me, but you feel like sticking something on for a little while to see how it looks, there's plenty of options out there for temporary and safe ... more

Advantages Advantages Can express your personality

Disadvantages Disadvantages It will be there forever!

Firstly, if you are thinking of getting a tattoo done then make sure you do just that for a while, think about it. Many people have probably wanted to get a tattoo at some point and consequently changed their minds. This is why it is so important to think hard about if you actually want one in the first place because they are for life really. I now have four and I would recommend it if you are absolutely sure you want one. My first one was done when I was in Germany and I didn't think about it as much as I should have done. It is now my least favourite one so there you go! The other three ... more

Advantages Advantages unique -- yours for life

    Disadvantages Disadvantages bit painful

I took 5 years to decide where I was going to have my first tattoo and what design I would like to have. I chose a custom design and was very pleased with the results. The difficulty I then faced was what do I get next. It was 6 years ago that I had my first tattoo and I am still working on the design for my second. But then I am very fussy and don't fancy pictures of eagles on my chest. Many artists are patient and thoughtful over their work, others are not so scrupulous so after deciding the position and design you really need to research the personnel who are going to scar you for life ... more

Advantages Advantages Beatiful tattoo's can be showed of for a lifetime.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Slightly tingly pain for a few days after.

I got my first tattoo when i was 15...I got a little star on my hip bone...I was absoloutley terrified...I smoked so much before hand and to be perfectly honest it was all for nothing. To best describe what it feels like I'd say a burning scratch. That sounds a lot worse, for me it was incredibly bearable and I have since had 5 more...one down my left leg(tribal), a lightning bolt on my right hip, The Jam logo on my right bum cheek and LMAO on my other(dont ask...drunkern bet) and an orchid on the back of my neck! All of which were not painful and were relativley cheap. The most uncomfortable ... more
