When I was a little girl, I used to mither my mum all the time for money so I could go to the shop to buy some sweets. Whenever they were on sale I used to buy the Chewing gums that came wrapped in a tattoo. You know the ones were you put water on them and they come off onto your skin, I would walk around covered in them. I loved having these tattoos all over my arms and I showed them off proudly. I remember my mum saying one day "they will be the ... ...a real one I'll disown you." Yeah right as if….
Well I'm all grown up now and as soon as I turned 18 I got my first Tattoo. My husband never liked tattoo's either but we went through a rough patch and whilst we were split up I sneaked off to the local Tattoo parlour and got my first one. It all stemmed from there really and now I'm the proud owner of 5 tattoos. A lot of people think Tattoos are ugly and unnecessary, but everyone has their own opinions ...

Advantages: They last a long time, they can look good, it's your body so decorate it Disadvantages: They last a long time, they can look appalling, some people don't like them, make sure you get one because you want one, they do blur over time
Tattoos are one of the oldest forms of personal decoration. They've been used to identify people with various organisations, to make people look attractive or simply as a rite of passage. Even today all that stands, but they're now also used as a fashion accessory.
I always swore when I was younger I'd never get one, and my dear old nan thought people who had tattoos were thugs. That all changed in 1999 when I got a small Ankh tattooed above my ... ...tattoo, but an attempt at de-sensitizing myself to needles. I'm a severe needlephobic (trypanophobic if you want the medical term) and at the time I was having a battery of blood tests done for an ongoing complaint. As vaso-vagal trypanophobia (the type I have) can be fatal I was advised to find some way to remove the fear as I really needed the tests done. Weird as it may sound I decided a tattoo was the way forward. I had a chat with a friend of ...

Advantages: Can Look Good, Self Expression Disadvantages: Potential Cost, Pain, Some People Take Offence, Pain, Pain!
I have been to the tattooist yesterday and managed to get an old tattoo covered up with a new and improved one! Here is my advice on getting a tattoo.
***History***
Tattoos are one of the oldest forms of self-expression known to man. Many are used in tribal ceremonies and in the last century were also used as a means of identification (in WW2 by an evil man). Nowadays, many people get a tattoo as a form of self-expression. It may be patriotic, ... ...artistic or it may be an expression of love for another person. It is certainly a matter of personal choice.
***My history***
Suffice to say, when I was 18 years old, I went and got myself two tattoos. One on my back and one on the top of my left arm. Last year I got a shield with the scottish flag and some scrollwork done on my lower back (me and hubby got similar ones - his is across his shoulders, mine at the bottom!). Now this last piece of ...

Right. Here I am, talking about tattoos. I think I am quite qualified as I have 4 of them:
- armband on the right arm (done in 1997)
- tribal circle on the left calf (done in 1998)
- tribal design on the inside of my right forearm (done in 2002)
- tribal - japanese mixed sleeve on my left arm (yes the whole left arm)(done in 2003).

The word tattoo comes from the Tahitian "tatu" which means "to mark something." ... ...tattoo dates back 4,000 years B.C. to the body of a man found preserved in a glacier. Carbon dating and artifacts found near him suggests the man is over 5,300 years old. The skin bears a cross behind one knee and a series of lines above his kidneys, marks that some scientists claim to be the first evidence of tattooing.
Tattoos found on Egyptian and Nubian mummies indicate that the art of tattooing was practiced around 2000 B.C. and as the Egyptian ...

Advantages: Will help you make the right choices. Disadvantages: Can take a while.
I really love tattoos and in fact all forms of body art. I think it is a great way to express yourself and it can help you love bits of your body you hate. They are definitely not for every one and aren't the kind of thing that should be entered into lightly which is why I decided to write this op. I would like to point out that I am not an expert, I know my stuff but no where near as much as an ESTABLISHED, COMPETANT tattooist. It is good to read ... ...so, but all important questions about hygiene, risks and aftercare should be answered by a professional. Please don't fall into the trap of believing that friend who had a tattoo a while back and now feels in the position to give you advice, listen to them, take it in but still ask a pro.
Also if you had a tattoo and the skin looks mottled and inflamed after the first day you must go and see a GP. The risks of infection are very small but you shouldn't ...

Advantages: Sentimental, looks great, goes with anything you're wearing! Disadvantages: Hurts slightly, needs care for the first week or else it goes scabby!!
I was about ummmm....12 when i decided that when i came of age i would definately be getting inked, what it would be or where i would have it i didn't have a clue but i wanted to wait until i was mature (hehehehe) enough to have it.
I was 24 when i had my first tattoo, i had just given birth to my youngest daughter and was still breastfeeding her but i was determirmined to get one done, i went along with a good mate, i knew what i wanted, i wanted ... ...that i would resent in a couple of years time so i chose my favourite flower, a daisy in a chain in the middle of my back in between my shoulder blades.
On the day of my appointment me and my mate decided to chill in a cafe with a bacon buttie to keep me cool really because i didn't have the faintest idea what to expect, i knew i was good in the way of pain cos i had just had a 9lb 1oz baby without ANY drugs but still i was stepping into the unknown.

Advantages: can look nice and are individual Disadvantages: they are perminent and can be regretted
I have two tattos, they are perminent,I dont regret them and I've had them for a long time.
Despite my being very fond of my tattos there are many aspects to having one and much thought should be given before you decide to go ahead.
***Things to think about***
Having a permanent tatto can be fun, decorative and an excellent piece of art,but are you going to want to see a spider on your hand when you are working as a waiter,or when you are 70 years ... ...name accross your sholder? These are very important things to think about.
My husband has a series of letters on his knuckles, which when put together spell out a rude phrase.OK,so if you don't put them together then you'd never realise what they say,but he has been refused 3 delivery jobs as his hands are seen as unsightly, although one did offer to take him on provided he wore gloves on all delivery drops and pick ups.
I have a tattoo on my top ...

Advantages: Smiles! Disadvantages: Be grown up about it, eh?
I have a daisy chain.
My daisy chain is fourteen years old now. Fancy that. I must be getting old, because it doesn't seem very long ago that I had it done. It seems that Conor, who's eight, has been around far, far longer than my little daisy chain. When I look at it I smile (I smile when I look at Conor too, of course, but in a different way, you know). It's fading just a tiny bit now (Conor, and Kieran of course, shine brightly all the time), ... ...distant future I'll have to go and get it recoloured so that it's all bright and shiny and new again. Ah, but then again, maybe I won't: maybe I'll just let it grow older, and steadily more tattered and battered looking, along with me. I'll still like it. It really does make me smile and I reckon it always will.
If you like tattoos, but don't have one, you're always thinking, not about whether to get one, because you like them so you want one, but ...

I had wanted a tattoo for AGES and the minute i turnt 18 I practically shot down to the tattoo parlour and after all the waiting, since I was about 16, the noise of the needle was too much for me and I ended off running off! I spend the next few months browzing sites for information on the pain and different designs and it wasn't till a good year later I FINALLY managed to pluck up thte courage to get my first tattoo. If you were to look at me and guess how many tattoo's I have, what would your answer be?
Apart from my Dad (or anyone who remembered an 'all about me' challenge) I think most of you would get it wrong! Now, I know that everyone has a different idea and opinion on tattoo's from the next person, but here is my thoughts and views which I wish to share. (also with some important background information)
I got my first tattoo very aware that the marking ... ...naive, it didn't bother me one bit. Therefore as the years progressed, I eventually found my way onto tattoo number 4. Which shall also be my last.
I was also naive as to how in the future people would react to my tattoos - little did I know the man I am about to marry really doesn't like the look of tattoo's at all. But, he takes me as I am. He just wouldn't be happy with me getting anymore applied to my body. I respect his wishes and therefore ...

Boris is my friend. He goes everywhere with me, he has done since we met in June last year. People say we’re joined at the hip, but that’s not exactly true. To be precise we are joined on the right side of my lower back.
Just in case you missed the category of this review and you are wondering what the hell I’m on about, Boris is my tattoo. A small blue spider with mauve legs and pink boots. Why did I name him Boris? In fact why did I name him at ... ...give the cute guy a name, seeing as I’ll be spending the rest of my days with him.
Tattoos are not something to be taken lightly though. I was 29 when I finally decided to get my tattoo done. Not an impulsive action, nor a drunken dare or bet, It was a choice I made after many years of thought and consideration of the subject.
Boris is not much bigger than an inch round. He cost £25 and took just 15 minutes to do. I can’t say I didn’t feel a thing ...

Advantages: Makes you stand out and be different Disadvantages: Regrets
On this opinion you'll be getting a procedure/step-to-step guide on how a tattoo is done. I hope this will help you decide and give you an idea on what is to be expected so then you won't have to go into the tattoo studio wondering what exactly is going to happen, you'll have a pretty good idea and hopefully you'll be more relaxed knowing what is to come. So far I have 12 tattoos and the more I have one done the more addictive it becomes, but be ... ...fairly good idea what you want done, say for example you want a chain or just a simple design, you can either create something yourself or pick it out of a book at the tattooist, so anyway you have choose a design. You then take that design to the tattooist and he will then draw it up onto special tracing paper.
You will be asked to sit in a relaxing position, the main thing here is that YOU are comfortable. The man should then get out a razor (don't ...

I must have clicked on this link to write a tattoo opinion a million times, then clicked back out again, with nothing further to add on the subject. Isn't that annoying, when everyone has already written about everything on the subject and you can't think of a darn thing to add.
Anyway, I have recently been thinking about adding to my collection of tattoos, and wanted my latest tattoo to be in Japanese Kanji. HA! I thought, now theres a subject ... ...we are, my opinion on tattoos, with a special 'Kanji' bit thrown if for good measure. I was 25 when I first got inked. I had wanted a tattoo for ages but was worried I might regret it at a later date, so I had kept putting it off. After my divorce I felt liberated, free to do as I chose for a change and one of the first things I did was set off to get myself a tattoo. ~~~Rule No 1.~~~ Don't do that!! Ok, I may have thought about it for many years, ...

I guess if you have read one of the really good opinions on this list you already know most of what there is to know. However, as a topic that interests me I thought I would also write a review in the hope that I can add something useful or relevant to the discussion. I have had both piercings and tattoos done in the past. I have had my earlobes pierced - I also had the tops of my ears pierced but suffered an allergic reaction and the area swelled ... ...piercings went very quickly. Before you think its a horror story though it isnt just a simple allergic reaction rather than some horrific piercing c**k up. I also got my nose pierced - having been punched in the nose before I can honestly tell you that the feeling is identical - 3 days later that piercing went too. Since then the only piercing I have had and kept is in my eyebrow - although it is a very cool look I don't see myself progressing from ...
