For The Very First Time

Advantages: One of the best skills you can ever learn
Disadvantages: An emotional rollercoaster

...I wanted to be the member of my family to pass before everyone else and when/if I get my 18th birthday money obviously I will give my mum something nice with the money. She's brilliant, but at least she doesn't have to pay out every week anymore. Christmas came and went bringing a few weeks off but then I was back with vengeance, if perhaps a bit of rust. What's the best way to shake the rust off? Spend the first 2 minutes of the lesson doing a lap ...
...With my theory test passed I was able to book my test for January 18th and that it would now be a race against the clock to perfect those manouevers. THE BIG FOUR; turn in the road, reversing around a corner, bay parking and reverse park. Turn in the road is also well known as a three-point turn, although on your test you can do it in any amount of turns depending on the width of the road, the smaller the road the better it is to practice on for ...

Thank God, now I can have babies!

Advantages: I got there in the end! And it was er....intersting!
Disadvantages: Time money, and lots of tears.

---Before the Introduction!--- This is in the category "Member advice on Passing your Practical Driving Test". I think my review would be better suited in "Member advice on how not to pass your Practical Driving Test". However, I did get there in the end - so the advice I can offer is: · You will get there if you persevere · You will pass only when you are ready to pass · If you are a friend or relative of someone who is struggling to pass, please ...
...really does make things worse. It might be useful to accept that some people just don't want to drive. If you want to read a short review, stop reading NOW! For more useful information about passing your driving test, you will probably need to consult your driving instructor (I have no idea how people pass if they don't at least have some lessons with a qualified instructor) - they can tell you what will be expected in a test, how you can fail, ...

Passing your driving test!

Advantages: Freedom! The end of all those lessons, where to go now..!?
Disadvantages: Very expensive, nerve wracking, and frustrating!

Passing your test! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ When I first started taking my driving lessons I actually thought very little about the actual test itself and just carried on as normal. I sort of knew I was good enough to pass and had a feeling I’d pass first time… Yep, this feeling was wrong, but there you go. First things first, to start learning to drive you first need to get a provisional license, which now comes in the form of a little green card with ...
...The theory test ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ The theory test is something you should try to get out of the way as soon as you possibly can, in my opinion, so you can focus on your actual practical driving skills. A lot of the theory will make more sense once you have a bit more sense of the roads, for example roundabouts and junctions, so starting them off at around the same time is a good idea, just don’t leave it dragging out too long – yes it’s boring, but ...

At the junction, turn left.....no the other left.

Advantages: Passing!
Disadvantages: Failing and getting a rubbish examiner!

It's such a wonderful feeling, passing your driving test, the freedom to go whever you want, whenever you want, provided you've got petrol, insurance, MOT, tax and oh yeah......a car! Most of us will choose to learn to drive and there are a few who would rather park their bums on a set on the bus rather than in the driving seat of a car. Me? I've always wanted to learn to drive and was certainly up for the challenge. I was pretty scared at first, ...
...those arcade games or formula one games and even then, the car would spin out of control. Everyone told me that driving is not an easy thing to learn, but once you've learned it, you'll never forget it. It's like riding a bike. You might be a little wobbly after years of not riding the bike, but you don't forget how to stay upright. For those who have never done a test I'll give you an idea of what exactly will happen. 1) To book a test, you must ...

My A-Z of passing your Practical Driving Test

Advantages: Freedom and independence
Disadvantages: Cost, nerves

As many of you know, I passed my driving test recently so I would like to share my experience to help others to pass theirs. I have decided to give the advice as an A-Z; I hope it helps you or someone you know :-) ~ The Driving test - what to expect on the day ~ So you've been learning to drive for a while now and your instructor says you are ready for your test. But what does this involve? You will need to book a double lesson with your instructor, ...
...will be the test with an examiner. When you arrive at the test centre you will sit in the waiting area until the examiner comes out and calls your name. When they do, you will have to sign a green form to say that the vehicle you will be driving is insured and that you are a permanent resident of the UK. You will then have to read a number plate from a car a short distance away to check that your eyesight is ok. Once you have done this, you will ...

Passing Your Driving Test

Advantages: Rule the road
Disadvantages: Stuck with the green card

Hello to all reading this. My name is Amjad I am 22 years old & live in West London. I would like to share some tips on how to pass your driving test. Also please read other members views as everyone shares there own advice which may be of use to you. Well lets get started. First of all you need to be 17 & have a provisional license to start, don't delay prices are rising I got mine in 2004 cost £35 now £50+ you can pick one up at your local post ...
...we kinda get a bit paranoid & nervous. So don't be afraid to give one a shot even if you fail no worries I actually passed on my second attempt & consider my self unlucky. Well to pass , you are required to pass both parts of the test. First the multiple choice questions otherwise known as the theory score required 43 out of 50 & secondly hazard perception 44 out of 75. WhenI first booked my test it was the old criteria 30 out of 35 I was unlucky ...

An emotional rollercoaster to hell and back!

Advantages: Being able to drive at the end of it all!
Disadvantages: The failure, the emotional strain, the COST.

Well, for anyone wanting to read my op. just a quick warning- this is NOT short. Also, I cover my theory because I feel that it would help anyone reading this who is a learner, and give them a good perspective of my experience. But enough of that, lets get down to it! Okay. Picture the scene. I am finally 17, on the 2nd of March 2006. My driving lesson is booked in for my birthday and I am so excited! With a mixture of nerves and excitement, I was ...
...it, on my birthday there was about 4 inches of snow lying outside. Needless to say, my instructor (lets call him James for identity purposes!) cancelled. Little was I to know this was going to be the first of many. Not to be put off, I (well, my mum) quickly arranged another lesson. This time everything went to plan, and my lessons went from there. After about 10 lessons, I kind of wondered when I would be moving on to junctions, as James had only ...

Drive safe, Drive Happy. :D

Advantages: Passing means you rule the road!
Disadvantages: Failing just means you're one step closer to success, or something

Right, time for a really experienced driving test failer to tell you about how a test is done. Haha. :D You would have thought that I'd become some sort of expert on failing the driving test after the many driving tests I've failed, so I should write some sort of "How to fail a driving test guide" But no. Ah the stories..... but that's not the point of this review. I'll leave that til later. Gets get down to the meaty stuff. Okay, here goes... A ...
...Your Driving Test These are all just general things that are quite useful for normal day to day driving, but are MUST DO's and MUST NOT DO's on the test day. 1) MIRROR CHECKS When you normally have driving lessons, you'll mostly be chatting happily away to your instructor for the entire day. Well, okay, my instructer did spend a lot of the time laughing at me, or shouting at me for not understanding his jokes, but hey, it's a mere technicality. ...

I passed the test - heres what i thought of it

Advantages: i passed with flying colours - the 4th time lol
Disadvantages: took me 4 times

After reading loads of reviews on here, i can now write my own review on passing the driving test. I finally passed in 08/08/08 - COOL DATE EH? After 4 attempts at the driving test, i finally passed 4th time round. I hated the thought of doing the driving test for such a long time, at first i even wondered why i was even out learning, cause i was dreading the big exam at the end. So.. at 21 i started out on my driving lessons in Derry in Northern ...
...I started off very nervous, which made me not pick up things for a good while, but after a while i finally got the hang of it. after 1 YEARS AND HALF OF LESSONS :( i finally applied for my first test ... on the day of my first test, i was grand, happy and no nerves whatsoever, so off i went, and all was going great until i came to my dreaded roundabout... this round about is very busy, and i had to cross over 2 lanes from the inside all the way ...

From Someone Who Took FOUR Times To Pass...

Advantages: The feeling you get when you pass!
Disadvantages: The anxiety/worry/stress knowing you have to keep taking the test.

OK so I took four attempts to pass my driving practical test. This review is probably going to be helpful and encouraging to those who suffer with nerves or just need encouragement to finally rip up those L plates. It may also just assist those who are unsure about what to expect on their practical driving test. ===BACKGROUND=== I'd been learning for 6 months with a man (let's call him Gary) and things had been going Ok. I am quite a slow learner ...
...school, but just a bit useless when it came to driving. I read up on this and found out that generally people who are more academic are most likely to fail their driving tests a few times. Obviously this isn't true for everyone but hopefully will give some of you out there a bit of hope! Gary was a pretty good instructor - had a Renault Clio and we had some good and bad lessons, like everyone does. But when I decided to take my first practical test ...

Practical driving test - My experience

Advantages: Being able to drive!
Disadvantages: The F word - Failing

I read all these posts frantically before taking my test and they really did given me an insight into what it is like, so I thought I would add my own contribution I passed my driving test on Tuesday (woo!!) but it was a long journey starting when I was 17… (If you are just interested in the practical test itself skip down to where it says PRACTICAL TEST INFORMATION) So I turned 17 and got driving lessons for my birthday. I had never really been ...
...just was something I assumed everyone did. My parents, grandmother, sister and uncle all passed first time (no pressure eh?) using the same driving instructor. So my lessons were booked, unfortunately the driving instructor had retired but he assured my mum that I would be in good hands as I could have his Son. At 17 I had just started going out with my friends, just started working part time and was working on my A levels, to say my heart wasn't ...

How to pass your Driving Test in 3 months flat!

Advantages: Amazing sence of achievement, and FREEDOM!!!
Disadvantages: Very soon you become Mum's TAXI!

Yes that's right, 3 months. I had just turned 40 in May, when I decided this was the year to go for it, so to speak, and get myself that much desired full driving license. So I applied for my very first provisional license in July. My neighbours two daughters had passed first or second time with an ADI who lives just around the corner from me, so on their recommendation I gave him a call, and so my first lesson was booked for Friday 21st July 2006. ...
...and then my ADI had a problem with his car, so he had to postpone the lesson to the Saturday morning! I got in the passenger side and he drove us to a quiet estate and we went through all the basics, and then we swapped seats and I practiced pulling off and stopping, and went back and forth around the estate. The hour was soon up and my ADI drove me home. From the second lesson onwards I had two hour lessons, which I would recommend because often ...

I am driving in my car.

Advantages: Freedom!!!!!!!!!!
Disadvantages: It costs far too much!

The best feeling that I had when learning to drive was actually passing my test - despite taking me 4 times to do! But please, just don't let that put you off. When I took my test, it was only £38 but a driving instructor friend of mine tells me that it is now nearer £45 - and that is only four years down the line. Your instructor should be aware of what the current price is, and they will help you in applying for your test. Of course, you have had ...
...even let you consider taking the practical. But as this is about the practical, that is all I am going to say about that. You must only apply to do the practical when both you and your instructor feel that you are ready to do it, or otherwise you will make yourself look like a right plonker. Ask your instructor to allow you to practice everything over and over, as you don't know what you will get asked to do. It is normally any two of reverse park; ...

PASS YOUR TEST IN 20hrs ISH?

Advantages: Freedom, Independance and the buzz of passing!
Disadvantages: Potentially very expensive, consuming, the unknown

Well I'll start by indroducing myself as a 27yr old guy from good old Derby! I left it late to learn how to drive but got there in the end and I'll tell you how. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ PART 1....... THE PLAN When I decided I wanted to learn to how drive I realised that I didn't want to spend months or years learning to drive, I wanted to do it in a matter ...
...Well that was the plan anyway! As soon as I passed my theory test I booked my practical test which was for the 7th Sept 2009, 7 weeks away. I then searched around for a Driving Instructor and found a school which was well priced and covered my area, I called them and had a chat about one of their packages which was 30hrs of tuition for £530. He said he would send an instructor round for an assesment lesson. The next week I had my assesment lesson ...

Experience of learning/practical test, tips/hints!

Advantages: Freedom drastically increases, fun, life long
Disadvantages: pub life decreased, may become obese due to lack of exercise, expensive

I’ve been driving a whole year now and except an accident thank god, I’ve been through the lot. I’ve written about my experiences of learning to drive below and also the advice id give to others starting out including the main topic the very important test but I’ve included my experiences in the first section if you are interested which does contain quite a bit of information about learning to drive, if you are only interested in the advise on the ...
...this review, happy reading! I actually started driving 1 year earlier than the minimum age due to a disability of mine, it must be bad enough for those starting at 17 but I didn’t know anyone else who’d learnt at 16 so it seemed quite a big deal. I looked around for whom I was going to go with, and it is expensive but to me there really didn’t seem much difference in price. In the end, due to a good reputation I chose to learn with BSM (British ...
