The cynic in me thought perhaps the previous owner might have decided working out how a man thought was too tiresome and had decided on a life of celibacy was more convenient. ...succeeded very well, ( “Why men don’t iron and why women cant read maps” by Pease is one which I would say has surpassed this one), but this still tends to be the book that the media churn out and quote with alarming regularity.
The concept of the book is simple – its that men and women have different needs and communicate in different ways. Therefore if you can accept your own needs and feelings, and can attempt to understand ... ...what he means is true. Men and women do think differently and do have different needs. Men tend to want to problem solve, be in control and have huge difficulty “dual processing” ( most men reject this but most women accept this as a true concept – in that men need to focus on one task before starting another, whilst women can look after the kids, cook dinner and do the ironing all at the same time). They also tend to think that ...

Advantages: Good theory Disadvantages: Repeats itself
...The book reminds us that men and women behave differently in the way they approach things such as problems, relationships etc. Tell me something I don’t know I hear you say.
This book seeks to explain that difference by drawing a parallel with imaginary beings from different planets. It asks us to think if we were a being on Venus and a being from Mars arrived on our planet would we expect that being to behave in exactly the same way as ourselves? ... ...of sense.
For instance men are usually practical in their approach to a problem, whereas women tend to be more emotional. The book points out that sometimes a woman can see the answer to her problem but just needs to talk to someone about it and get sympathy for her situation. Men need to learn to do this and not to just give practical solutions, without emotional support.
Another point made by the book is that men generally need time alone or ...

...bought me a copy of Men are From Mars, Women are From Venus for my birthday a number of years ago. We were not married at the time, in fact, we weren't even dating. He bought me this book by way of explanation…. He uses allegorical ... ...There is no doubt that men and women are different, they each go about their lives in a different way. What this book does though is to stereotype in a rather dramatic way. For example, the book states that as a woman you should be sensitive to the fact that a man needs to feel that he has come up with a solution to the problem (hunter) and thus as a woman you should present a possible solution to a man in such a way as he thinks that he has come ...

...both questions – no. Nowadays, men and women share characteristics, and as such are not as different as they may have been in the past.
This book is largely aimed at men who have trouble relating to feminine issues, and to a lesser extent women who can’t relate to male issues. I wasn’t in a relationship when I bought it, and so read with a pinch of salt, which ... ...of things women say to men that infuriate them. I would be glad of my girlfriend saying “Next time we should read the movie reviews” or “Those potato chips are too greasy, and bad for your heart”. They kind of imply interest and concern in what’s going on. Or have I got the wrong end of the stick? Maybe I should be angry when my girlfriend makes informed comments on the world. Advantages: Learn how to better communicate with the opposite sex, and understanding our differences. Disadvantages: You may not agree with everything.
The famous international bestseller - Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus. Claims to be 'The definitive guide to relationships', written by John Gray - a best selling author, lecturer and relationships counsellor. The book is meant as a guide to understanding the opposite sex, and how we communicate, think, feel, perceive, react, respond, love, need, and appreciate differently. Packed with practical techniques for solving the problems that arise ... ...take care of things. Men value power, competency, efficiency and achievement. This is why it is a bad idea to offer a man advice, unless he has asked for it, as this would be presuming that he is not capable of taking care of something himself. For example, Tom and Mary were going to a party. Tom was driving. After about 20 minutes and going around the same block a few times, it was clear to Mary that Tom was lost. She finally suggested that he call ...

Advantages: none that I can think of Disadvantages: heavy going, rather silly and very dull
After experiencing a rather bad patch with my partner, bad as to the extent of nearly splitting up, I'd heard good reviews about this book and decided to read it.
I found the book vey hard going and although there were certain chapters that appealed to me such as:
How to motivate the opposite sex, really needed to give that one a go! although there were some interesting points nothing inspired me to put them into action.
The amusing chapter that ... ...but isn't this book written by a man? so in that case what makes him such an expert as to what women think?
I'm sorry but I really couldn't get into this book due to the fact that it was extremely hard going and I had to force myself to read it, I also thought such statements as 'men go to their caves and women talk' rather ridiculous, couldn't this have been put into better terminology?
I'm of the opinion that without actually experiencing something ...

"Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" or so the saying goes. After being forced to read that book in an effort to understand the subtle differences between myself and my (then) girlfriend, I came up with a far more distinctive (with fewer big words) method of highlighting the differences between boys and girls. I shall dispense this advice... now!

2. With the toilet-brush, clean any residue left on the pan by your boyfriend/husband. Also wipe his pubic hair off the seat with some toilet paper.
