...black, 1997 is the third Mercedes Diesel to date. I started with a 190D 2.5, and drove about 125,000 miles. I then 'graduated' to a 300D and decided that I wanted to get 250,000 miles and in fact ended up doing 320,000! I now have 205,000 miles on the clock, and although I feel I should change it....I really don't want to.

Genuine Mercedes spare parts are not cheap, but they are value for money.A new rear exhaust box was £115, oil filters about £8 and a new windscreen wiper assembly cost me £20 just yesterday.
The extra 'oomph' provided by the sports selection and the Turbo really does get the car moving when you need to, and the performance compared to the 300D is remarkably better. Mercedes tell me that the newer CDI versions are better again!

...diesel (about 32mpg). However, bear in mind the power you've got and the size of the car and you understand why.
Servicings not too cheap but mercedes dealers cant be faulted.
Depreciation is much less than other cars so buying a second hand one is a great idea. ...

Having driven my C250 for the last 2 Years all I can say is "Wow", with 259,000 miles on the clock she is still 101% reliable and still pulls like a train out competing cars half its age. Driving position is comfortable whether you are 5'8" or 6'8" with good all round visibility, throw in the responsive 2.5 Turbo Diesel coupled to a 5 speed automatic box and in my opinion you are set for life, you will never need another car. On average I spend £100 ... ...joints and the occasional tyre so it gives good value for money as they are now affordable by all. All servicing is possible at home as long as you are one of the more ingenious of motorists, where it states "Mercedes Service" just sit back and think for a while as most things can be done without a massive bill. ...
