    Advantages Advantages Good Game Fun

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor Version Of GTA

I bought this game as I am a great lover of first person shooter games and particularily of modern warfare games and it did not dissapoint me at all. You play as a member of a mecenary force with 52 cards each with the face of a target on it and a bounty on their head which you will pocket should you capture or even kill them giving a whole new games meaning to dead or alive. I had hours and hours of fun with this game before eventually selling it to a friend and buying a new game. Gameplay The game play is very smooth you have an element of free roam where you can get friendly or not with ... more

Advantages Advantages Great Graphics, good atmosphere, Good challenge, not far from GTA

Disadvantages Disadvantages Long load times, Too much driving, can be dull

You probably gathered from the title that this is not as good as GTA, but experience shows that if a game is as good as GTA, it exists only in the developer's mind. Like Driv3r. But, that doesn't mean that this is not a pretty good try. Mercenaries is an open ended, non linear, GTA-like experience. You can jack vehicles, shoot people, etc, etc. You're a mercenary (choice of three) who has been drafted to North Korea by your mercenary company. It's 2007...nuclear weapon threat by North Korea.......different factions......Evil NK mastermind...... and so on. There's no real underlying plot, just ... more

Advantages Advantages Great Graphics, superb shooting and the mere fact you can blow up virtualy anything, lots of replay value.

Disadvantages Disadvantages AI is not the smartest out there, is more linear than you might think.

LucasArts… you've gotta love em'. They have a reputation of releasing great and not so great Star Wars games, along with others that no one remembers. However the past year has seen some great titles such as Battlefront, Knights of the Old Republic 2 (not forgetting the recently released Republic Commando) and Mercenaries is no exception. To cut a long story short Mercenaries is set in a war torn North Korea. The country has set up weapons of mass destruction programs and is also supplying weapons to terrorists. North Korea is then overrun with the Allied Nations, South Korean military ... more

Advantages Advantages Totally interactive environment, blow the hell out of everything in sight

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Repitition

Ever dream of being a soldier of fortune, living off you wits and looking through life down the sights of a light machine gun, calling in air strikes to rain fire, misery and death on everyone around you? If this is you then I have two things to say. 1) Do you need counselling? 2) Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction is the game for you. Mercenaries are set in North Korea just after a military coup. General Song has overthrown and assassinated his father President Kim. After the discovery that the new regime is smuggling nuclear weapons to terrorists the UN invades North Korea. Bounties are ... more

I beat this game and let me tell you something, This game is for people love explosions just like what's on the cover. The game revolves around 3 character each with different language advantage, for example one can speak russian, the other two speak chinese and korean. In the game you start off as a mercenary looking to do missions for different governments, now why would they hire me you ask? Well it's because of your expertise. Basically what you do in the game is to earn as musch money as possible and as well as killling the bad guys who try to kill you. The story is set in South Korea and ... more

Advantages Advantages Fast-paced non-stop action. Great graphics, addictive

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Goodbye social life

Mercenaries really lives up to its title, it really is the playground of destruction. You choose from one of three mercenaries whose task is to liason with local agencies in the DMZ, and then ultimately capture/kill General Song, the villian of the game. The beginning of the game sees the character being airdropped out of a plane in the middle of a pitched battle between the allied command and North Korean froces and sets the tone nicely for this fast action -packed game. You start with a very GTA style format with you having to take orders from each of the various factions in turn, then later ... more

    Advantages Advantages fully destructible landscape

Disadvantages Disadvantages little bit repepitive after a while

Mernaries is a great game. You start with a choice to play as either one of three characters, involving you in the game straight away. The video cut scenes are good, seemlessly linking you between gameplay and video. The aim of the game is too overthrow the North korean government, named the 'Deck of 52' as every key member of the regime is assorted into various decks and numbers, starting from the lowest to the highest, 'The ace of spades'. You are allowed to fully roam the vast landscape, or you can simply stick to the missions, set by the leaders of the four factions, the 'UN' , the ... more

Advantages Advantages looks great, sounds great, feels great

    Disadvantages Disadvantages slightly repetitive

Mercenaries, in my experience, is a very fun and enjoyable game, if a little bit repetitive. You play as one of three mercenaries sent in to a fictionalized north korea where practically the whole world has invaded and want to stake their claim to it. You'll be able to choose from quite a range of weaponry including AK's M4's heavy machine guns, grenades and much more. You'll also have access to some devastating firepower in the form of air strikes and bunker buster bombs, which is easily the game's most impressive sight. You'll also be able to drive numerous vehicles around the area's large ... more
