...cinematic storytelling, with the original Metal Gear Solid, has deservedly gained legions of fans and "Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots" was set to be the culmination of a great saga. One of my friends found out I've gotten my hands on an early copy and asked if he could come over and watch; "Sure", I replied; "I'll probably be idly watching about as much as you anyway".
=== The Story ===
Fate insists on dealing _Solid Snake_ the cruellest ... ...bi-pedal mechanical menaces, called the Metal Gears, capable of launching nuclear attacks. Further hindering his missions are the most wicked arrays of villains, who are lethal either by nature, being dazzling gunslingers or dead-shot snipers, either by virtue of piloting tanks, helicopters and even harrier jets. In order to accomplish his missions he eventually has to eliminate each and every one, even when some of them turn out to be his friends ...

Advantages: Great graphics, great gameplay, great enemy AI. Disadvantages: Online play, installations.
Metal gear Solid 4 is the final chapter in the story line of solid snake. The story line of the game carries straight on from that of Metal Gear Solid 2. Since the end of Metal gear solid (will now on be referred to as MGS) 2, the world has changed. ID tagged soldiers carry ID tagged weapons; everything is controlled by "the system" known the existing MGS fans as the patriots.
You play the role of Solid Snake, the main protagonist of the first metal ... ...Enemies: If one thing previous metal gear games are let down by is the AI of some of the enemies, however in Kojimas latest effort, players will be happily satisfied with the intelligence of the computer generated enemies. Gone is the cone shaped view on the radar which shows the enemies vision. The enemy soldiers will hear and see you form quite long distances, which adds individual touches to the game play. For example if Snake develops back ache ...

I'll state now, you don't need to have played the previous games to be able to play and understand this one, I'd only ever played MGS2 before this and that was years ago. ...clear - its not.
Metal Gear Online is, put simply, a letdown. You create your own character and fight Counterstrike-style against your opponents in deathmatches/ team deathmatches etc...seemingly similiar to what you would expect from Counterstrike or maybe Halo. The learning curve however, is extremely steep, and there are many expert players on the online prowl for fresh blood. If you are new to MGO, I guarantee you will find yourself dying within ... ...The problem is that Metal Gear Solid has always been associated with stealth, and an avoidance of combat. With MGO, there are no benefits to hiding - in a deathmatch its kill or be killed. It just feels that the MGO system is not fully developed, and players can be killed far too easily, stemming i assume from the games roots of avoidance of combat. Overall, lets just say we're lucky MGO is packaged along with MGS4, at no additional cost, else we ...

Review of Metal Gear Solid 4
Being a huge fan of the Metal Gear series, I try to write without bias. First of all I'll admit that I was slightly worried when the premise of playing as Old Snake was announced. I was also disappointed by the idea that the environment would be an open warzone, first stated in the previews. However, being the fan I am I bought it on release day with my friend who is also an avid Metal Gear fan (possibly moreso than ... ...just didn't 'feel' like the Metal Gear Solid games we were used to. The first thing noticeably missing was the classic wall hug, Snake does not automatically put his back up to the wall anymore, you now must press triangle to hug a wall, although he doesn't stand back to the wall, he just grabs it (eh it's a small thing but it annoyed me). At the start of the game, you control Snake in the Middle East and this didn't really impress me too much. However, ...

(No spoilers)
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the long awaited sequal to the Metal Gear Solid franchise. It wraps up the story of who the patriots are and how Solid Snake will live his life.
Ive been a fan of the MGS franchise since MGS1 for the PS1 and I believe that this sequal is a pleasing and fullfilling end to what has been a great 10 years of gaming.
You take the role of ex-pentagon and FOXHOUND agent Solid Snake. Your mission ... ...up everyones storys.
The Metal Gear Solid series has always been story driven so if you dont like sitting down a watching pleanty of cutscenes then I warn you now you proberly will not like this as it contains about half gameplay and half cutscenes. I also think you do need to know the story from previous games to fully understand this game and some points may be very confusing without knowing somethings.

...a very long time. Yes, Metal Gear Solid 4 is here at last. After months of waiting and speculation, delays and rumours, it's finally available for us all to enjoy. But was it worth the wait? Has it lived up to the hype? Does it provide resolution for one of the most beloved characters in the history of gaming? The answer, strangely enough, is a resounding yes. I've been a fan of the Metal Gear Solid series since the original was released back in ... ...example of this is the Metal Gear Mark II - a small remote controlled drone that allows Snake to stay in touch with his buddies back at base, but which you can also take control of to perform recon missions. At least, that's the idea. Never in the entire game was I able to use this feature successfully, making me wonder why it was even included. While Metal Gear Solid 4 (or MGS4) came out a few months back, only now I've received this wonderful opportunity to play it. Yes it is indeed worthy of the many awards it has won in 2008 and I believe it to be one of the best the current generation has to offer. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
I got this with my PS3 from Currys.
First the case: The normal plastic ps3 case covered by a card slip case. The slip case bears the same design as the normal case, I can't really see the point of it. Resolution: 720p

The final game in the Metal Gear series masterminded by the great Hideo Kojima, a series that has spanned NES to PS3!
It is the final chapter in the story of Solid Snake (now known as Old Snake), who is now victim to extreme aging and without much time left to live. Metal gear solid, in my opinion has been one of the greatest stories ever put to game. The 4th installment me and a friend played from beginning to end, which was probably about half an hour of game play, and three days worth of cutscenes.
