Advantages: No obvious side effects! Disadvantages: 3 hour window, may contribute to weight gain.
...only wish I had discovered Micronor earlier, without going through so many other pills that didn't suit me. Unfortunately, unless you have specific requirements (medical conditions, heavy smoking etc.) that limit the kind of pill you can take, doctors seem to be reluctant to prescribe this type of POP because of the 3 hour window. But if you can stick to the time limit, and if, like me, you have found that other pills produce annoying side effects, ...

Advantages: stops you falling pregnant (hopefully) Disadvantages: can affect you sex drive - badly
...doctor prescribed for me is Micronor - sometimes refered to as the mini-pill.
WHAT ARE THEY
They are a progesterone only pill and works basically by thickening the vaginal fluid (so that the sperm cannot get to the womb - ha gotcha) and by changing the lining of the womb so that eggs cannot grow there. They are a small, white, round pill and come in a packet with days marked on it to help you 'remember' to take them.
WHO SHOULD NOT TAKE THEM

Advantages: Can be taken when the combined pill is not suitable. Disadvantages: Like all pills, can have side effects for individuals.
...only pill. He prescribed me Micronor and I started taking it.
After a week of taking it, there was a death in the family, but not a particularly close relative to me. However, even weeks after the funeral I was still feeling very down and weepy about it. I remember feeling that it was weird since I wasn't particularly close to the person who died. I now know that this was the start of the effects of the pill.
I started shouting at my boyfriend ...

At the age of 20, I was admitted to hospital with stroke like symptoms caused by the combined pill. I did not know this at the time, but I should never have been given the combined pill as I very occasionally suffer from severe migraines. I am healthy, keep very fit & I don't smoke or drink.
I was advised that it was safe to take the POP but after my experience, I did not pluck up the courage to try it until I was 23. For the last year, I have tried ...

I loved Micronor! Review ofMicronor Contraceptive Pillby

Advantages: No babies! Few side effects Disadvantages: VERY irregular periods, must be taken at exactly the same time daily
Micronor is a Progestin-Only Pill (POPs). Most Pills are Combined Oral Contraceptives (COCs). I had been on COCs before, and had positive experiences with them. I went off the Pill for awhile and when I was ready to go back on it, the doctor suggested Micronor as it is slightly less risky for heavy smokers. However, it is VERY important to take your POP at the exact same time every day. I was told this repeatedly. COCs have the benefit of a generous ...

Advantages: Very few side affects Disadvantages: irregular periods
I take medication for epilepsy so was told I couldn't take the combined pill so I was prescribed the mini pill. This only contains the progesterone hormone not oestrogen. So unfortunately it doesn't give you the benefit of regular on time periods.
I didn't suffer any side affects when I started this pill. But after a few weeks I started to have what I thought would just be a normal period, but it didn't show any signs of stopping for a good 2 ...

Advantages: Can't get pregnant Disadvantages: Can't have sex, grasy hair & skin, Tantrums
I have been prescribed micronor as i am a size 12 so not huge but my doctor thinks this increases my risk of getting thrombosis if i take the combined pill. I am 23 and have 3 children my oldest being 3 and youngest 4 months so its quite understandable that i don't plan to have more just yet.
Anyway i've been taking this pill for 21 days and i've had 2 periods whilst taking it... and in between these periods i had very horrible, whiffy brown discharge ...

Advantages: You are in control of your protection Disadvantages: 3 hour deadline
I was prescribed micronor after the birth of my son simply because i was breast feeding and the pop pills were the only ones allowed whilst feeding my son.
I was very wary about going on to this purely because i have a mind like a sieve and would never remember to take the pill at the set time each day..
My doctor recommended setting my mobile for the specific time each day.Not once did i give the pill a second thought..Off i toddled to the ...

Advantages: Prevents Pregnancy, suitable for migraine sufferers Disadvantages: Bleeding for 3 weeks out of 4, extremely heavy periods, constant PMS, 7lbs weight gain, depression
...I was feeling completely drained.
Micronor gave me two periods a month, pretty much one after the other, equally heavy and about 7-10 days long, this meant there was only one week in four when i didnt bleed and i still had light spotting even then. I didnt get pregnant because I rarely had sex! In the end I had enough, I've been to the doctors today and have been given cerazette instead...so fingers crossed this works better! ...

Advantages: works great, no side effects, no periods Disadvantages: none
Micronor works well for me. I dont forget to take it because I set my mobile on a reminder for everyday and it goes off to remind me to take it at 5pm every day.
I have been taking it almost 4 months now. At first I kept on bleeding for about a month but then it completely stopped and I did a pregnancy test but of course it was negative. Now I am very happy with it. At first the constant bleeding worried me but now no bleeding at all (yay).
I ...

I decided together with my GP to change from Cilest (combined pill) to Micronor because I was getting a lot of migraines. My GP said that Cilest probably did not help my migraines. I started taking them 3 months ago and first period was 2 weeks late, then I had slight specs of bleeding for 2 weeks.
After another 6 weeks I have not had a period at all and feel bloated. I don't mind not having a period but will be going for a check up to explain this to my GP.
Otherwise I have really liked taking these pills, I have only had 1 migraine so far which lasted a few hours when I used to suffer 3 or 4 times a month which could last days.

Wow! My girlfriend was put on this pill after having some problems with a few other estrogen pills. Initially, those were causing her to have a lowered sex-drive and reducing the dosage helped a bit. However, her migraines increased and the doctor put her on this instead. One great side-effect was that her sex-drive came back like nothing i've ever seen before.
Amazing. 3 hour window is not a problem. I can easily remember to remind her to take it.

Advantages: No periods, no side-effects Disadvantages: periods not back after stopped taking the pill
...from Femodette (combined pill) to Micronor because I was getting a lot of migraines. My GP said that Femodette is probably not the cause of my migraines but it will be safer using a mini pill if I get migraines too. I started taking them 8 months ago and for the first two times my periods were a few days late, which is supposed to be normal according to the instructions on the packet.
After the two periods I have not had a period at all. I don't ...
