Advantages Advantages Much faster than Windows Vista, more reliable, less crashing

Disadvantages Disadvantages Built in software leaves a bit to be desired.

Windows 7 – Life without Walls Now that we have stopped arguing over who’s darned idea it was, I feel compelled to write a review for Microsoft’s latest operating system, specifically the Ultimate edition. Microsoft’s previous operating system effort left a lot to be desired, Windows Vista was crippled in many ways. Performance lacked, slow copying of files, overuse of RAM and CPU and a downright drop in gaming frame-rates. I’m happy to announce that with this version of Windows, many of the issues that plagued its predecessor have been greatly overwhelmed. Performance Performance was one of ... more

Advantages Advantages Much faster than Vista, easy to get started

Disadvantages Disadvantages I've had many many problems with it and it's made many things stop working - way too expensive

Ok, let me start by saying - unlike a lot of people, I thought Vista was absolutely fantastic, a massive leap forward from XP and (obviously no software is perfect) but it never really put a foot wrong with me. So a day after Apple overtake Microsoft as the biggest Tech company, what do I make of Microsofts new operating system? Let's start with buying it - I think the price is appauling and an absolute joke to be frank, fortunately being a student there are ways of picking up cheaper versions, my personal opinion is I wouldn't want to pay more than £80 or so for an operating system, and even ... more

Advantages Advantages looks great, easy to use, nice new taskbar, high compatibility

Disadvantages Disadvantages cost is still high

I recently upgraded from Windows Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 Ultimate. I had not minded Windows Vista as much as other people; my computer has a 2.13GHz dual core processor and 4GB of RAM. Windows 7 doesn't actually seem to be any faster, but it has some better features and is overall easier to use. It took about 2 hours to upgrade, which isn't bad but it's not amazingly fast. It runs all of my programs that ran under Vista no problem, and some of my hardware is actually now supported that wasn't supported in Vista. I haven't found anything that doesn't work after upgrading. I still recommend ... more

INTRODUCTION:After a gap of around 3-4 years since the release of Windows Vista microsoft finally releases their much awaited windows 7. The platform is set to revolutionize multitasking so that users can manage them easily like never before. FIRST IMPRESSION: I have been using windows 7 as a beta tester for quite some time before finally getting the original ultimate version after its release. When I first installed windows 7 and looked at it, the first thing that struck my eye is the loading screen. The animation of the four swirling windows was nicely done and the loading time or the boot ... more

Advantages Advantages Favours performance, good design, easy to install, more user friendly than previous Windows

Disadvantages Disadvantages Pricing is way too high

I started using Windows 7 Ultimate x64 at the beginning of this year and is loving it! Installation was simple, in goes the disc, make a cup of coffee, watch your favourite program, come back and it is completed. Very simple to setup. Windows 7 offers a refreshing design for users without sacrificing performance, there was never any crash or lagging, simply a good-looking OS with efficient performing power. There is an improved program compatibility compared to Windows Vista, games runs smoothly on Windows 7 without any error, switching between desktop and games will no longer ruin the game ... more

Advantages Advantages Windows Vista how it should have been. The smart look without the nagging

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very hard to find one...maybe the price if you only recently got a Vista PC

After the atrocity that was Windows Vista, causing chaos in the business world as the less IT literate staff struggled to find the functions they required and the home users spent hours telling their PC yes, they really did mean to click that button and install a new game, Windows 7 has revived my faith in Microsoft's ability to create a great operating system. Despite having a completely overhauled GUI from XP everything just seems to be where I expect it and if it isn't the handy search bar that is always visible if the start bar is open finds it almost instantly. The main improvements I ... more

Advantages Advantages more organized way of placing files, aero features.

Disadvantages Disadvantages msdos dont work here, heavier than other OS's

Windows 7 is one of the most beautifull operating systems out there. why??? Easily because not only it looks much much better than others but also it helps to organize your files and folders in a more better way than the other OS. If you are using vista then I will recommend that you quickly switch to windows 7. because its an advanced version of it but wayyyyyyyy better. XP users take some time to adjust but once you know how it works you will refuse to switch to any other OS. It's disadvantages ofcourse include that it's heavier than other OS. but you know that quad core processor is ... more

    Advantages Advantages The processing power!

Disadvantages Disadvantages The inabilty to run some programmes

This is as it says Windows 7 Ultimate, It is much better than Vista, and is far better at recognising hardware and obtaining updates as necessary. If you turn off some of the unesessary bells and whistles it actually runs quite fast, boot up time is much shorter than Vista for example. If you buy this version (ultimate) you also have access to a downloadable upgrade from Microsoft that allows you to run a Virtual version of windows XP for stubborn software that still just wont work in Win 7. its really good because, once installed, you can place an icon link to your XP software on the Windows ... more

Advantages Advantages Very easy to install and use.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Still now cost is high.

I used Windows vista. I thought that Vista was really better than others operating system. But it was my wrong idea while I viewed Windows 7 Ultimate in others computer. I used this operating system there and then I decided to use it. I bought this from our computer market. My computer has a 2.13GHz dual core processor and 4GB of RAM. The very important thing is Windows 7 will support both 32- and 64-bit systems. The bare minimum requirements For the 32-bit include the minimum requirements is 1GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB available hard disk space, and a DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 ... more

Advantages Advantages Faster, good networking with other Windows machine, so far it has not crashed.

Disadvantages Disadvantages price, best to do a fresh install which will involve backup & restore of information

Having read much of the hype on Windows 7 I decided to test out this new operating system by upgrading an old laptop. Looking though my cupboard of hardware I found an old IBM Thinkpad. Single Core processor with 1 GB of RAM (circa 2003). My first pleasant surprise is that just about all of the devices (mouse, speakers, WI-FI) etc worked out of the box. Windows 7 seemed to have the right drivers needed to bring them to life. I also noted that the WIFI card worked more reliably then before (don't ask me why). Anyway, having built the basic machine, I then installed office. This was easy and I ... more
