Vista Rocks

Advantages: Safer faster cooler
Disadvantages: Requires a high spec Pc for an upgrade

Are you thinking of upgrading to Vista? good idea, but do your homework first. There are so many versions of Vista available it can get confusing let me help you through the minefield. first let me tell you all about some of vista new features and why its a quantum leap ahead of XP. 1. Clear Intuitive interface. As far as eye candy goes windows vista is a joy to behold a welcome relief from the monotony that is windows XP. the whole interface is ...
...use. finally you can look at all the files on your computer in a way that makes sense to ordinary people like us not geeks. You can also browse through open windows in 3D ( i am yet to actually see the point in this) i guess its just a cooler way of scrolling through multiple windows. The windows are also transparent ( Aero ) . this feature is however not available in the Basic edition. 2. Improved security Security issues were such a big deal with ...

Windows Vista

Advantages: it looks nice
Disadvantages: it is unreliable and unpredictable

...In short I feel that Microsoft has out done themselves when it comes to the cosmetics of Vista, the performance side of things however is another matter. == Performance == Vista's performance is poor at best, Microsoft have spent too much time working on the cosmetic side of things and not enough on the technical side. It is very unreliable and unpredictable, you can't do more than one thing at a time for fear of it spitting it's dummy out and ...
...Opinion == In my opinion Microsoft should have focused on the technical side of things more than they did, in their haste to bring out a new good looking operating system they have given us something which admittedly looks and handles nicely but is seriously lacking everywhere else. I just hope that they will learn from their mistakes when they bring out the next version of Windows, although to be honest they couldn't make it any worse than Vista, ...

Vista Las Vegas

Advantages: Quite pretty and you get used to it
Disadvantages: Probably not to everyones needs/taste

...see what the team at Microsoft had done, but I was never expecting to experience it until a year or more after its release. I'm not the sort of person that would buy Vista, just for the hell of having an up to date computer, it just so happens though that my mum decided to buy a new desktop computer for the house so that the computer literacy of the house could expand further than the under 40's that live here. This computer would come packed with ...
...and create computer viruses, and Microsoft probably aren't doing enough to prevent all this but Vista is a step in a furthering direction. Pretty much whenever you try to install something you won't just get one security warning about something being installed, you'll probably get about five, that you will have to click yes to all of them before you can move forward. This was pretty irritating when I was first setting up the computer and putting ...

Windows Vista...More Like Windows 7 Beta

Advantages: It looks pretty, Good wireless capability.
Disadvantages: Poor Design, Its trying to be too pretty. Compatibility Issues

...you will find out that Microsoft are currently creating there new operating system Windows 7. Many reviews state that Windows 7 is actually going to be the completed version of Vista. Now, sorry if I seem to be mean, but that seems very unusual to me. Windows 7, the product there currently working on is the full version of Vista. So really, we are the beta testers of Windows 7. Windows Vista Home Basic is not a full operating system, its a beta for ...

I had actually book the day off work so when I arrived to pick up my laptop, my Managing Director had already opened up the box and was just about to start it up. He likes his technology almot as much as I. At first it looked very good, sleek design, but we waited and waited, and it seemed like it had already ...

Windows Vista.

Advantages: Looks good, Lots of different programmes.
Disadvantages: Hard to get used too.

Windows Vista Layout: The layout of Windows Vista is very sleek but it is quite complicated to get used to at first! The desktop layout can be changed to a variety of colours to make it more personal to the user, and I think that this is a good adaptation to other Windows programmes. On the main desktop, you can choose to have features such as an anologe clock, the date in bold, and the temoerature in your area, all of these features can be disabled ...
...Windows Vista Programmes: The programmes that come with Windows Vista are 'Voice Recognition', a variety of games, Windows Calender, amongst otheres. The Voice recognition programme lets you speak to the computer instead of having to type and click on what you want to do! The downside is that you have to go through a long winded tortourial, and then to make the voice recognition more clear and accurate you need to 'train' the computer to the sound ...

...Its security is regarded by Microsoft as the best yet. Maybe so, but when things go wrong, because its basic, the recovery tools to fix your system without losing everything is next to nothing, hence Basic. It has good recovery tools to make sure the loss is kept to ...
...since xp was released that Microsoft say will work, well, they do but there not very stable or reliable. It requires some tweaking to make it 100% compatible & if you’re not an advanced user like me, this will be a real problem. Also, the resolution required is huge also. So, if your monitor is an older CRT design. You will need a new one as the resolution on most CRT monitors older than 1998 do not rise above 1024x768. This will mean your icons/menu ...

WINDOWS VISTA - COMPATIBILITY ISSUES

Advantages: New OS, nice visual
Disadvantages: Many software and driver compatibility issues, slow in providng solutions

...it makes you wonder if Microsoft is intentionally creating this in order that the competitors are kept out. I have even sometimes used this feature rather than uninstalling recently added programs, thereby not having to delete registry entries and all the myriad of crap some progrmas leave on your pc. Mostly though this is just a newer prettier and a little tweaked version of xp and is not fundamentally that different. ...

...These were both good but unfortunately thats about where the positives ended for me... In the time I had the laptop windows sidebar did not work, and the system took ages to shut down. Quick review of Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic

Windows Vista is a great looking operating system, it has the same simplicity as Windows XP, all the layout of the start up menu and other apllication are the same, but they look more impressive because of the better graphics used. the downfall of Vista is that some harware may not function with the new vista, personally I bought a wireless keyboard/mouse and it worked when I had XP, but was faulty with windows vista. My advice would be if you buy Vista make shore that all your hardware is compatable with vista, do some reseach and I don't see you having any problems. Overall 8/10 for Vista, great looking and has all the qualities as XP and a little more. Give it a chance! ...

vista good or bad

Advantages: quicker than xp
Disadvantages: needs lot's of RAM

Has any operating system been so maligned and so praised during a painfully long development cycle as Windows Vista? The march to Vista's launch has sometimes seemed longer than the Hundred Years War. Now that Windows Vista is at hand, let the debating begin. Is it a look into the future of operating systems, or the last, dying gasp of an old way of computing? Should you upgrade your system to meet its considerable hardware needs? Is it anything ...
...complain that Vista isn't as revolutionary as it should be after five years of work. But you don't judge an OS by the amount of time developers have put into it. You judge it by how useful and how pleasurable it is to work with--and in these respects, Windows Vista is a clear winner. It's beautiful, sports much-improved security, offers superb networking capabilities...and maybe most of all, it's just plain fun to use. That's not to say it's perfect--far ...

Advantages: Quicker. More enjoyable to use.
Disadvantages: Too expensive. Still a few errors.

I must say I was thinking if I should up grade to Windows Vista from XP. After borrowing the software from a friend I can say that it has been worth it. Although I would say I wouldnt pay more then £80 for the software. For me XP was great. Ok there may have been a few bugs in it (which you may came across) but for me there was nothing wrong with XP. What can Vista do that XP cant. Vista may look cooler, plus in my experiance I found that Vista is ...

As many of the other reviews say, they should work on lowering the price a bit; which I totaly agree. In the end why change something which was perfectly fine! P.S - If you have just got this product and you dont like then give it time, and you should begin to get use to it. ...
