    To make the choice easier, Miele helpfully named this edition of their cylinder vacuum cleaner Cat & Dog. So potential customers were able to identify it as such. It worked for us. I chose a cylinder cleaner as they’re smaller and quieter, and easier to get up and down the stairs and round furniture. We don’t actually have any pet hair to deal with, only human hair of the long variety, but we have a couple of Turkish rugs which will cling to hairs and dust which can only be removed by brushing of some sort – a suction-only vacuum cleaner would not have worked here.     Firstly, why I needed this vacuum cleaner. If you don't want to read about my dog please skip to section 2. A friend of mine phoned me and told me of a German Shepard dog that was being used as a guard dog at a car yard close by. He didn't make a good guard dog as he would cry all night, so they decided to send him to a well-known dog house. My friend pulled on my heartstrings and said that I could not allow this to happen.     Our main home vacuum for the last couple of years was a Dyson but just before Christmas, it started to become unreliable and didn’t seem to do the job as well as it did so we decided to upgrade to a newer model. We have two dogs in the house and the one especially moults quite badly so we decided to look at a model that was specifically designed to get rid of pet hair effectively.     Having been through three vacuum cleaners in as many years I was at my wits end. Last Christmas I had spent hours, literally, vacuuming the carpets throughout with an ageing Vax cleaner that had seen better days. Each piece of carpet needed vacuuming about 8 times to get it thoroughly cleaned for the arrival of the in-laws, and I'd just about reached the end of my suction hose.     Tormented by the current deluge of medically orientated opinions here on Ciao (don’t shout at me – I wrote one too!) I have decided to go back to basics and write something really Consumery (does that word exist?). Looking around the house I found my willing victim – the vacuum cleaner!! I have had my Miele Cat and Dog for around five years now and it is still going strong.     After buying 3 dysons and all 3 not lasting longer than 4 mths i decided to try a different make. What with having 2 dogs 1 a german shepherd what sheds hair like there is no tomorrow, the other luckily a short haired mongrel, but when she sheds she looses buckets full, plus 2 girls who dont care were they drop there wrappers and rubbish, we decided on the Miele cat and dog hoover.     We bought this after reading other reviews on Ciao. We have 7 cats, 3 of which are Persian, and also 3 lovebirds who leak feathers like there's no tomorrow. We had previously exhausted 2 Dysons and an Electrolux . I wasn't too keen to go back to a 'bag' cleaner, but I have no doubts about recommending this one. This hoover works! It deals with all manner of fluff and dirt. The provided on board tools are standard, but great for all jobs. You can use this for the car and narrow staircases with no loss of efficiency.     This was my last attempt at purchasing a cleaner that would remove stubbon dog hairs. Not only does this machine do that perfectly but also filters out the air as well.It has several power settings that make it easy to use on all types of surface. It comes with various attatchments like upholtery brush crevice nossle and soft brush. These are stored on the cylinder itself under a flap on the top.     I have owned my Miele cat & dog hoover now for 3 weeks . I have run my own house now for 30 years and have owned a few hoovers in that time and have cursed and sworn and each and every one of them ! One was way to heavy and bulky to use on the stairs ( upright Hoover ), another could'nt even suck the fluff off the carpet ( vax hoover ) . I have even owned a Dyson , which i paid good money for and it worked brilliantly for the first few months , then it just seemed to lessen in power and eventually it was used for cleaning the car only.     I have two dogs and feel that I have a constant battle with dog hairs. I have had this hoover for about 18 months now and love it.My brother has two dogs and two cats so I recommended that he tried this hoover. He loves it as well. My previous hoover was a Dyson. I decided to buy a Dyson as it was bagless and thought it would be easier than having to keep emptying a bag and would smell better if I emptied it reguarly.
