A friend recommended Miele as she had owned one for several years and was very impressed with its performance. Having decided to buy a miele I was then faced with numerous models to choose from. All Miele vacuum cleaners are cylinder I decided on a revolution 5000, mainly as I liked the look of the cleaner and was impressed with the large electrobrush supplied.
This vacuum cleaner is not cheap, Tribal UK are selling it for £264.89. I bought ... ...The company.

...into Edinburgh to purchase a Miele Revolution 500. The reason? We already have a Miele and know and trust the name. Plus we don't mind paying for such good quality. And lastly, you can't buy these babies in Argos or Index or many of the High Street stores, there it seems to be Dyson or nothing!!
The Revolution 500 is less garish than many of its brightly coloured counterparts. It comes in a very stylish metallic light green or gray effect. It's ... ...worlds. Like all Miele models, the tools are stored inside the body of the cleaner itself. This particular model also comes with a hook that enables you to hook the hose and cleaning head to the side of the cleaner in several places. This is useful if you have to leave the cleaner maybe to answer the phone, or if you want to store it without the hose collapsing all over the place. Someone has really thought about the design of this cleaner.

...recommended to look at the Miele Revolution 500. A friend had done all the research for me: Which best buy, top ratings on various websites (not this one yet) etc etc. So I trawled around the net, and finally got a reasonable price by using www.scan.com. I subsequently bought it from John Lewis on their Never Knowingly Undersold scheme of price matching, for £200 (£40 off RRP).
Well, first the good points. It's certainly stylish; being a nice metallic ... ...far as suction goes, the Miele seems almost less powerful than my outgoing AEG, even though it has an extra 400RPM 'under the hood'. This may have something to do with the far superior filtration system that it sports - you can even get anti-allergenic HEPA filters if you feel the need, though I suspect the fineness of the filter and bag, actually make it work harder to acheive the same suction! Having more bare floorboards and tiles than carpets ...

Sucks for £275 Review ofMiele Revolution 500by

Advantages: powerful suction, variable power settings, easy to move around Disadvantages: cost
...push and pull vacuum the Miele Revolution 5000 is the best I have ever handled with a level of suction that if the adverts are to be believed would have enough power to suck a dog into the bag. Having now used it I have to admit that it probably could if the sledge cleaner pipe was a little bit wider. As it stands, the telescopic pipe is so narrow it increases the suction to at least 3 times the power of a Dyson Animal.
All of that suction though ... ...for my Revolution 5000 and in all honesty that to me was a lot of money but the benefits make this significant dent in my wallet well worth the while. Carpets are visibly cleaner, there is less dust in the air making my chest much better and I seem to sleep better at night since using the vacuum on my bed twice a week. The reuseable internal bag holds up to 4.5 litres of dust and thank god it is easy to empty as it fills up incredibly quickly. The ...

We chose the Miele after reading a Which? review of vacuum cleaners. The Solution 500 was not included. But I realised that we needed a rotating brush and a head to clean the hard floors in our house. Miele was the only cylinder vacuum to do Cat and Dog heads. I decided on the Solution 500, rather than the Miele Cat & Dog vacuum as it had the additional parquet floor head. The Solution 500 cost us £149 from QED-uk.com [delivery was next ...

...and send a new part through the post). The problem has remained the same.
Finally, in exasperation, I attempted to reject the vacuum cleaner. Dyson were unhelpful in the extreme and insisted that they should send out an engineer. I pointed out that the engineer had been, had failed to solve the problem, and that I had stated that the last time was to be their last attempt. They did the 'broken record' on me.
Fortunately the shop where I bought the DC05 has been extremely helpful and have agreed to take back the machine and deal with Dyson directly. They agreed that enough was enough.
I was going to accept a replacement DC05 but Dyson's attitude have changed my mind and I am now going for a MieleRevolution500 (which also has a turbohead - and a better track record where breaking down is concerned). I have also changed my mind about...

Advantages: Compact, good suction power, great all round vacuum cleaner Disadvantages: can be slightly pricey
...the sucking power on most of the vacuum cleaners available on the market. If I was not already mad, I would of found it highly funny to watch!
I was undecided between an upright and a cylinder vacuum cleaner, I was not falling for the pretty looking ones like my husband was indicating at, I was more interested in the sucking capabilities this poor little addition to the family would have to cope with.
So I had decided with a cylinder cleaner but which make? I have used the Meile cat and dog cleaner before round my mums so I decided to purchase the Meile Revolution500 cylinder vacuum cleaner, and made my husband part with his hard earned cash costing £240.00.
The Meile Revolution500 came in a pretty blue colour with the sucking power of 1500 watts which would not only suck up the dirt but strip the dog of any loose hair if she came close...
