Advantages Advantages 1998 and 1999 performances, commitment, experience, inner strength, excellent record,

Disadvantages Disadvantages Inability to get past mid-pack, bad luck in 2000, inconsistency in 2001, difficult to get a word out of him, won’t be cheap to hire,

Mika Hakkinen, the flying Finn is the Formula One World Champion of 1998 and in 1999, he became the seventh man in history to win back to back championships. Mika is taking a sabbatical from the Formula One world series for the 2002 season, this is my opinion on my favourite driver for the last 5 years or so… >Pre Formula One History Mika was born on the 28th of September ’68 in Helsinki. He won the British Formula 3 champion in 1990, he was seventh in 1989. >Formula One History (Source: Sporting Life Website) >1991: Mika was with Lotus he made his debut in USA and his best result ... more

Advantages Advantages Won the World championship twice - only he and Montoya can beat Schumi

Disadvantages Disadvantages Getting on, after the championship twice - what else is there

I am a self confessed Damon fan, when he retired I went with Mika. Always with the underdog against the Schu - sorry CH. It looks as though history is repeating itself for me. I have only been to three GP in my life (2 at Spa, one at Silverstone) but I religiously get up at all hours to follow F1. I love it. I loved Damon and I love Mika. The following opinion is not as good as many in this category but it is my little tribute to Mika – the man of little words who has achieved the championship twice in 1998 and 1999: Here is a short 'biography': Name: Mika Pauli Hakkinen Known as: The ... more

Advantages Advantages Probably one of the best drivers of all time

Disadvantages Disadvantages That sabbatical could be the end

Welcome to my long – that’s an understatement – opinion on the life of Mika Hakkinen. I wrote this a couple of years ago for an English project – I got an A, yay! So go ahead and read probably the longest Ciao opinion of all time – enjoy! IN THE BEGINNING It was the 28th of September when a new star was born. However nobody knew this at the time when Mika Pauli Hakkinen was born at the in Helsinki general hospital in Finland. He lived in a small town in Vantaa Martinlasko near the Finnish capital of Helsinki where he was born. His desire for motor racing was ... more

Advantages Advantages Very fast and efficient in his work, focused and unaffected by pressure, very fair, humorous

Disadvantages Disadvantages None (Retired at the end of the 2001 season)

league in pitching," La Russa said. "That's going to be an asset for them the next four games we play." Part of San Diego's pitching depth is David Wells, the intense and playoff-tested left-hander acquired from the Boston Red Sox at the Aug. 31 trade deadline. Wells, 43, has suffered from severe pain in his right knee all season and made only 13 starts as a result, but he has performed capably in five starts since coming over from Boston and is 10-3 lifetime in the playoffs. "He's got a ton of postseason experience," Cardinals catcher Gary Bennett said. "He's not going to crack. He's a big ... more

    Advantages Advantages Top driver

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Lack of personality

There are rumours that Mika may be retiring at the end of the season. This is partly due to his poor results this season. He currently has 19 points. For most drivers this would be a good result, but not Mika. He has done so much better in previous years. Last year he finished with 89 points, the year before 76 points. This won him the championship in 1999. This year his team mate David Coulthard is doing better than him in the championship, which must hurt his pride as Coulthard is meant to be the second Mclaren driver and last season David had to let Mika past him to help with his ... more

Advantages Advantages too many to mention

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

The Flying Finn with the subtle grin – there is only one man this description refers to and that is obviously Mika Hakkinen. Having excitedly watched him clinch his 1998 and 1999 World Championships in Japan with great skill under pressure should have silenced his doubters out there. He truly is the World’s Finest Driver. Even after all his amazing drives in F1 there are still those who are not convinced, attributing some of their doubts towards his so-called lack of personality. This really couldn’t be further from the truth! Granted he is one of the quieter members of the ... more

    Advantages Advantages Can win races.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lost the will to race.

So many times we have seen Mika Hakkinen drive some fantastic races and win race after race. But, this is normally only when he has started from a high position on the grid. Once Mika drops to a position below the top four, either on the grid or in a race he seems to lose the will to race. Obviously because the McLaren is such a great car he will still do well, but not as good as he could do. This season the McLaren car has not gone so well and already we see Mika taking a very relaxed attitude towards the world championship. When he failed on the last lap to finish the Spanish Grand Prix ... more

is mika hakkinen one of the greats? if the answer is no than he must be very close.he has driven mclaren from being the forgotten car to title dominators in the space of just two years, winning the title along the way. Part of this,of course,is down to the car. but u still need a good driver to drive a good car. and who is to say that he wont win it again this year? he certainly is in with a good chance if the mclaren continues its excellent realiability record.he is also backed up well by the reliable david coulthard, and together they have a very good chance of taking the constructors ... more

Advantages Advantages He never gives up and has the ability to win

Disadvantages Disadvantages He has an ugly wife

Mika Hakkinen - know what can i say about his ability. He can win races and can gain pole positions with ease. Theres not much more to say than that. He is an allround driver with above average driving ability, which helped to win him his double world champion crown not all that long ago. He has proven that he can beat Schumi in 1998 with his first world championship inside the superfast West Mclaren Mercedes. 1999 was a lucky win with Schumi breaking his leg at the British GP. His start to the 2001 campaign has not been fantastic and could have been a whole lot better, he could have finished ... more

    Advantages Advantages Determined

    Disadvantages Disadvantages DC?

Hakkinen is a strange character himself, very quite and not very outgoing. In the last year after winning his second world championship title, he has changed a bit, showing more emotion now and then. I'm not sure whether i can say that he is a good a driver as Michael Schumacher though. It is very difficult to tell, and it would probably be impossible to find them both in the same team to see who is the better driver. I remember when Hakkinen was the "No.2" driver, but no DC seems to be catching up even though I think that DC is more of a F1 driver, unlike Hakkinen, who basically just thanks ... more
