Advantages Advantages Real life story of heart and Emotion

Disadvantages Disadvantages He had the pottential to be the greatest of all time

Boxing overview I’m not going to lie. I love boxing. Boxing has been a major part of my life since I was 14, I first joined a boxing gym at 14 and have since fallen in love with the sport and have also fallen in love with the fact the boxing has saved many lives and made relationships with people who would have never even talked to them in real life. At the same time I have experienced the harsh realities of boxing and what it can do to families friends and your loved ones, this review is about what boxing has a whole on people and the ones around them. Enjoy. Boxing is considered by ... more

Background ~~~~ Mike Tyson, oh what could have been...or perhaps what should have been. As a boxing fan I will try and keep this to boxing, rather than the out of the ring troubles, and the problems he's had, as I'd rather remember him for what he did well. Theres many people who dislike Tyson's boxing, and others who loved it, but lets get it straight, Tyson after the death of Cus D'Amato was never the same again. The destructive puncher, stocky muscleman who used the peek-a-boo technique so well and actually was a lot more of a complete fighter than people remember was possibly one of the ... more

Advantages Advantages Never a dull moment.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Voyeurism at its worst, people are waiting to see the final act of destruction.

Anyone who's followed Tyson's career from the beginning, if they're honest, have to admit that he's never really proved himself to be one of the 'greats'. The old axiom is commonly accepted to be the marker of a great champion: to be the best you have to beat the best. Ali needed Foreman, Liston and Frazier; Leonard needed Hagler and Hearns and Robinson needed the likes of La Motta and a score of other great fighters. But, just who has Tyson beaten? An over the hill Larry Holmes? Over weight hamburger addicts like Tony TNT Tubbs? Among his best victories were probably Tony Tucker, James Smith ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages killing a sport

So Mike Tyson has once again been let off by the sport of boxing following another display of his neanthedal tendency. If this man was not a boxer he would sure be serving time for the rest of his life by now. My question is how can this be good for boxing? The people who are earning off the back of Tyson seem to be as dense as he is. They are earning now but they are killing a sport that could have been the golden goose for years to come. Boxing is in danger of becoming WWF and Tyson has even appeared in a WWF ring (best place for him). The sport has some great exponents and they must be ... more

Remeber when Iron Mike was the best fighter in the world by far? When the betting was not on whether he would win but in which of the first three rounds? He was amazing, and the primary reason was that his aggression was controlled. Cus D'amato, his trainer and father figure, channelled all Tyson's aggression into boxing, and what came out of that was a quick, agile fighter with several punches and nice combinations. Cus dies, Don King comes in, and all of a sudden Tyson loses the combos and starts with the one-punch knockout crap. Now he's a street thug who will be intermittantly behind bars ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Mike Tyson

Whilst it is perfectly understandable that Tyson would want to do as little as possible in the ring to fund his shopping trips to London, does anybody think that he should be taking on fighters of a slightly higher calibre. He hardly deserved payment for his destrcution of Julius 'the human punchbag' Francis, and his most recent opponent was so high profile that i can't even recall his name (incidentially, my only recollection of that fight is that Tyson landed more punches on Frank Warren and the unfortuante ref, then he needed to knockout his opponent). So, not only is Tyson here to make as ... more

The best boxer I have seen in my generation. If only he had been managed properly, I believe he would still be unbeaten and the best boxer of alltime, the potential was there for all to see but he was easily led and got with the wrong people that ruined his career. He is not the same boxer now then he was, when he fights Lewis I believe he will be beaten because he hasn't got the right mental attitude that is needed to fight Lewis. The fear that he used to put into opponents when he was at his peak was awesome, the stare, the Kit he used plain black boots ans shoes, no glamour but was in with ... more

Mike Tyson will always be remembered as the fallen icon, a man so supremely talented who lost it, through a variety of influences. What the British public witnessed recently in glasgow was the shadow of a once great champion, his outrageous attempt to bite off the ear of Evander Holifield highlighted that this man no longer is mentally fit and healthy to step in the ring. The rules and regulations of this sport need serious work; how can a man so vicious (a convicted rapist) be allowed to step into a ring ? ... more

Mike Tyson was once known for is Boxing skills and i have to say he was a good boxer who earnt his place in Boxing history. Then he went and got himself into trouble with the law not once but several times. He went to prison and served his time and supposedly came out a reformed character who had found religion. It seemed also to make him something of a legend. You only have to look at his recent visits to London and Glasgow to see that he still has a huge following in this country let alone in America. But is this the sort of role mode for our children ... more

Advantages Advantages A very hard puncher and very aggresive

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can't take a hard punch

Mike Tyson goes by the name of "Iron" Mike Tyson and there's a valid reason, he punches like he's got an iron in his gloves. He is one of the most feared boxers ever to have graced the boxing ring but he is also one of the most dis-resectful fighter's to enter it. His last fight against the massive Dane Brian Nielson was a cool, calm and calculated fight from Tyson's point of view. He seemed to pace himself well considering he weighed his biggest he ever has, he punched well and most of all he obeyed the referee's orders at all times. If Tyson fought like this in everyone of his fights then he ... more
