The DiMAGE 7 is the crystallization of Minolta's all-out effort in the synthesis of its developments in digital image processing and its strengths in high-quality optical...
more...technology. With the boom in the world's digital camera market, consumers want digital products to perform under a wide range of conditions with functions that supply high-quality results. The Information-Technology Revolution has made digital cameras a common tool for the average computer user. Users are now able to capture, process, and display images in a way that was limited to only a select group of professionals. Creative photographers, who have been brought up with traditional silver-halide cameras, are also expected to look for digital cameras with comprehensive control and high image quality. Both computer users and photographers have wanted to explore creative digital imaging; they want to manipulate images in the camera as well as develop their imaging skills. However, today's digital camera market has yet to provide them with a tool to do this. Minolta's new digital cameras fully meet such consumer demands. The DiMAGE 7 shares Minolta's new technological developments designed to provide high-quality images as well as a wide array of digital functions for creative photography. Built around a state-of-the-art optical system with a high-resolution CCD and high-quality 7X zoom, and supported by a high-speed LSI chip, and high-performance autofocus and autoexposure system, the Minolta CxProcess image processing further enhances picture quality. The Digital Hyper Viewfinder offers flexible, intuitive handling and diverse viewing options. The DiMAGE 7 is equipped with a 2/3-type CCD with a total of 5.24 million pixels; the highest available resolution in consumer digital cameras. This allows impressive printouts of camera images on A3-size paper at 150 dpi, and A5-size paper at 300 dpi. The optical centerpiece in the DiMAGE 7 is a new all-glass Minolta GT LENS. Applying Minolta's expertise in designing and manufacturing professional SLR lenses, the DiMAGE's lens is an advanced ƒ/2.8 - ƒ/3.5 apochromat zoom. It uses AD (anomalous dispersion) glass and aspheric elements to provide sharp, bright images at all focal lengths. The Minolta GT LENS ensures high-quality results for each model.

About 1,769,472 more pixels than my last camera
Review of Minolta DiMAGE 7 by Kingseany

Advantages: Lots of professional features
Disadvantages: Auto focus, battery life

...class yourself as a semi-pro. The Minolta Dimage 7 isn't a brand new camera (it's been around since about July 2001), but it's worth mentioning as they crop up second-hand a fair bit these days. It's original price in the UK was a staggering £999, but typically expect them to go for around £300 now on Ebay. Even for it's age, the features of this camera are impressive. A 5.24Megapixel CCD outputting a 2560 x 1920 pixel image. Add this to the ... Read review

Minolta Dimage 7(Superb Camera)
Review of Minolta DiMAGE 7 by Markybee0

Advantages: Excellant quality pics, lots of functions, easy to use.
Disadvantages: Batteries last about 20 mins if your lucky,Power pack was 50 pounds from jessups.

When i bought my minolta dimage 7 camera it was about 800 pounds and to be honest it is not really worth 800 pounds, its a nice looking camera with lots of different functions but theres so many cameras on the market today its hard to differenciate one digital camera from another.I think the price has come down to about 600 pounds now.try Dealtime.co.uk and search away. Pros You can take pictures of about 5 different sizes without losing the excellant ... Read review

A Five Megapixel Star Camera
Review of Minolta DiMAGE 7 by Pastorbob

Advantages: Quality, Scope and Versatility
Disadvantages: negligible

...However, since I got the Minolta my photography has been revolutionised. It has a wide range of controls for manual to auto most things! In fact I have not found the need to use the RAW or Super Fine quality settings very often. The results from fine quality mode has been so surprisingly good. One small point is the vignetting that cuts the far corners of the frame in wide angle 28mm mode, but it's very slight. Sure it uses much battery power and ... Read review

At last a Camera with 35mm Quality
Review of Minolta DiMAGE 7 by Grumpyglenn

Advantages: Facilities, excellent build and feel
Disadvantages: Slow Auto Focus, no external flash socket

I have bee a 35mm freek for some years. My first Digital camera was the Dimage 2.3 meg pixel. i must say i was disappointed with this model as i spent most of the time making the images what they should have looked like. then i cought the Dimage 7 in a magazine. I went and bought this camera without reading any reviews at all. I must say its a cracker. Yes it heavier on batteries and the auto focus can be a bit hit and miss, but i don't photograph ... Great professional camera
Review of Minolta DiMAGE 7 by moof

Advantages: Great resolultion, zoom
Disadvantages: Autofocus not too quick

This camera is top quality, one I purchased with the high specifications and incredible zoom in mind. After looking for a long time for a camera with a decent zoom function, out of the few I found the DiMage7 came up top for picture quality and features - all options can be set to either automatic or manual, with intermediary settings for semi-auto available on most operations as well. The only downfall I've found so far is the auto-focus. It's ... Read review

Lost a SLR gained a camera!
Review of Minolta DiMAGE 7 by screamish

Advantages: SLR feel, Digital
Disadvantages: Battery usage

This is not going to be a technical review as I am less interested in what knob does what and to what level. I concentrate on a cameras ease of use, feel and ability to supply a great picture. This camera does it all. If you are used to an SLR and want to get into digital, this is the one to get. It uses much battery power and that caught me out at first, which was a real nuisance. Since then I have 2 sets of MH batteries, a fast charger and 4 ... Read review
