Sensational performance and sophisticated style - this 4-megapixel digital camera, the DiMAGE F100, with autofocus technology (Minolta calls it "bringing people into focus") will...
more...help you never miss another shot. First anywhere, the Automatic Digital Subject Program Selection automatically responds to each new situation to ensure the best possible results. Employing the technology from Minolta's top-of-the-line DiMAGE 7, the F100's high-precision electro-optical system is designed to maximize image quality. The system starts with a 4.13-megapixel 1/1.8-type interline complementary color CCD with 3.95 million effective pixels for fine high-resolution images. The pixel resolution of the CCD will produce 11" x 15" 150dpi prints on an inkjet printer. Minolta's new autofocus (AF) system makes bringing people into focus to catch the perfect moment easy. This sophisticated system locates the subject in three-dimensional space within the extra-wide focus frames so there aren't complicated procedures to lock the focus on the subject. Subjects no longer have to be placed in the center of the picture in order to properly focus using the Area AF. Employing technology developed for the top-of-the-line Minolta Maxxum 9 and Maxxum 7 35mm SLR cameras, Area AF evaluates the objects in the focus frames and locks the focus on the subject. The active AF sensor is displayed to confirm the point of focus. The extra-wide focus frames cover approximately 50% of the horizontal and vertical field of view. Simply point the camera at the scene and the autofocus system does the rest. The Minolta DiMAGE F100 is the first digital camera in the world to feature Subject Tracking AF. This AF system complements the Area AF by being able to follow a subject moving through the extra-wide AF area in three dimensions. Once the Area AF system locates the subject, Subject Tracking AF will follow that person no matter the direction of motion: to the left or right, toward or away from the camera. Catching the action has never been this simple.

Multiple features at a very competitive price.
Review of Minolta DiMAGE F100 by amieamief1

Advantages: Professional features with a high quality lense.
Disadvantages: No lock so it easily turns itself on!

The minolta F100 is a serious camera for those who want quality coupled with professional features; but can't afford the top of the range. It looks very similar to the Sony range but might just offer you a little extra quality for your money. 4 million pixels will give you a perfect onscreen resolution, even if you use a 17 inch monitor. It also produces prints that, i find, are equal to a 35mm. The SD memory cards can be slightly more expensive ... Read review

Congratulations Minolta!!
Review of Minolta DiMAGE F100 by jedi_billy

Advantages: Quick, reliable, sturdy
Disadvantages: Digital zoom still linked to actual Optical zoom automatic adjustment

I've been using my Minolta F100 for over a year now, having just returned from 4 months of travel where I have used the little machine more in depth than I would of believed, I can tell you that I am soon out to by the next model up. We bumped into a lot of people who now carry digi cameras and many people are willing to compare "How many Megapixels has yours got?" "How much zoom does it have?" so on and so on. One thing I can say, is that when ... Read review

Faults fail F100
Review of Minolta DiMAGE F100 by Rosarii

Advantages: High Resolution, Size, Design.
Disadvantages: Battery Life

The Minolta Dimage F100 Digital Camera is a great looking piece of kit but it is let down by it's build quality. My first camera had a large spot in the viewfinder, not a major problem but one that should not appear in an expensive camera. The replacement camera had a bad pixel which showed up on the image, the third camera had the same problem. However I have got fed-up with taking the camera's back, so I will clone over the missing pixel in PHOTOSHOP. The ... Read review
