Mirror's Edge - Different idea for a game but many guns 29/08/2011

Advantages Different, a chance to try free running. Satisfactory when you succeed a move!
Disadvantages Dodgy controls, short game, too many guns.

Mirror's Edge Mirror's Edge is a game set in future where you play as a girl named Faith. The game is set in the future where surveillance is high in the city, people are heavily resticted in their activities but Faith has found 'running', delivering data and packages between people, an illegal activity in the city. Further, a murder charge has been brought against her sister who did work for the police and the plot thickens to get the to bottom of this. Advantages Novel concept, decently showcased
Disadvantages Shallow, short and doesn't deliver.

Mirrors Edge is one of the few original ideas floating amongst the wealth of console game releases this year, and, although it rather disappoints in terms of the actual game, it does hint at something good and the concept has a lot of potential to inspire some possibly great games in the near future. STORYLINE 3/10: Well, what can I say. Not much in all honesty. The writers are either non-existant or they have written some hugely in-depth storyline and then forgotten to actually stick it into the game before releasing it. Advantages Great experience, great graphics, good plot.
Disadvantages Short plot, no multiplayer, no real depth.

Advantages a new idea and experimental
Disadvantages short and repetative and dissapointing

To be honest i was quite dissapointed with Mirrors edge. After playing the demo i thought it had the potential to be a really fun experience. Being a video game fanatic (the type who rarely see the outdoors, it is a scary place) i feel i have earned the right to judge, or at least moan. First things first, the game itself is very short and completable within a day if you clear your schedule or in my case can be bothered to get out of bed at a reasonable hour. Advantages Original and different, and somehow addictive
Disadvantages Can be irritating at (most) parts and is a very short game

When I first borrowed Mirror's Edge from a friend who really enjoyed playing it, I quickly grew to dislike it. It was irritating and frustrating, the combat is dreadfully shocking (and I have to admit I do love a good shooter; this is certainly not that, but then again it's not meant to be) and the story-line is, to put it colloquially, pants. The fact that the game is so short was at first a relief to me; I was glad I'd beaten it and could take it back to my friend with my firm opinion that this was a bad game I would never bother with again. Advantages Very cool, relatively easy story mode, excellent extra features i.e. speed runs, time trials
Disadvantages Danger of computer game rage.

This is a truly wonderful game! Reccomended to me by a friend, Mirrors edge was one the first purchases for my new xbox 360 and had me obsessed for the next two months. Mirrors edge is a very good take on free running and with it stylish graphics, use of colour and arty cut scenes makes for a very entertaining game. Initially the game can be slightly tricky as it can involve a bit of quick button changing, but once you get to grips with it you can put together a whole heap of free flowing moves. Mirrors Edge is a fine game, Don't let me say it's not. But Mirrors Edge is a perfect example of a good game overcome with flaws. The idea and plot are original and very compelling, the kind of plot that would make a good movie and gameplay that challenges the tide of mainstream mediocrity that is poured forth from Game manufacturers these days. In this age of Shooters and War games, it’s always nice to see something that takes an aspect used is so many games, and does something new with it. In this case, we have the first person view point, which nowadays is only ever used in war games. Mirrors Edge however, does something completely different with this system. While it is a first person game, Mirrors Edge is not a war game. Instead, it is a game about free running. A game about running across rooftops and making ridiculous jumps. Disadvantages very quick game, and poor and boring story line

mirrors edge is an original game which is exiting to play. there are many cool different stunts you can do such as high drops, scaling buildings, and jumping to and from buildings, climb trough ventilation systems and there is also many cool ways to disarm a for.
