    Ok, I won't beat around the bush. If you want a sports car, it's not for you. If you want an economical car, it's not for you and if you want a luxurious car then it's also not for you. BUT, and for those of us who truly love cars, this is a big but I think it's about the most fun car I've ever driven (apart from a 4.0l Jeep Wrangler) It's riddled with faults, but those (for me) just enhance the character. First off The engine is dreadful. Noisy, rough and with absolutely no power to it and not really enough torque to compensate. The turbo lags until about 2500rpm when it hits you badly under ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Just a terrible, terrible truck really.

    Having been in the motor trade for some 12 years, from salesman to sales manager, I have driven hundreds of different cars from dozens of different manufacturers and I can honestly say these cars have to be one of the worst vehicles I have had the opportunity to drive in my life. How anyone can write a positive review of the L200 without being on some kind of mind altering drug, beats me. Mitsubishi have lost the plot as far as cars go, with the exception of the Evo.     ---Brief--- Working in the construction industry it is difficult to find a compromise between a leisure vehicle and a works vehicle. However the new generation of stylish pick ups offered by mitsubishi amongst other manufacurers have fitted the gap in the industry perfectly. I was bought a 2001 mitsubushi l200 by my Dad as i needed a decent and reliable vehicle for work aswell as leisure.     Working on a 77km pipeline in the middle of nowhere, we were given Mitsubishi and Mazda pickups to use in the mud. With slush and mud sometimes getting up to two feet deep in certain places (not to mention what tractor treads can do the bare earth) this pickup worked marvelously. With the non-turbo charged assigned to the general staff, I was only able to drive the non-turbo version. The L200s (when fitted with all-terrain tyres) had a higher ground clearance than the Mazdas and moved through the mud rather easily.     My family bought this as a commercial/leisure vehicle and it just about filled its purpose. The main concern is quality - nothing fell off, but there were various problems such as paint chipping off the bumper, badly corroded alloy wheels, worn syncromesh on first gear, clonking rear axle and sticky rear windows. For upwards of £18k this is unacceptable. The whole feeling of the car was of one built to a very low price. To drive it is quite comedic, but the driving position affords you a good view of the road and it's not too shabby to drive if you don't push too hard. The comedy comes in when ... more

    My husband had been pestering me for the mitsubishi L200 for a while but after only driving for 8 months the sheer thought of a machine that size was seriously frightning. But i gave in and went to test drive a 53reg silver warrior which had no VAT on it as some other private user had already paid it.If you are a private buyer this is something you seriously need to consider. To my surprise the ease of driving this vehicle was amazing.     Advantages Advantages Multi-functional/High driving position/Good towing capability/Commercial class vehicle with reasonable comfort level/Full VAT recovery under current legislation/PAYE tax on £500-00 only as still classed by revenue as commercial vehicle.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor steering lock/High fuel use (Diesel)/Poor reliability/Frequent service intervals(4500 miles)/High dealer service cost

    Have used vehicle as a car and for light commercial work including towing. Rear passengers have little leg roomm and basic bench seating. Payload good but difficult to get weight far enough forward to distribute correctly. Four wheel drive effective off-road dependant on tyre choice. Great for bringing down PAYE car tax but not a great all-rounder. Regular servicing a pain every 4500 miles--£65-00 + VAT for oil change--£330-00 + VAT for 18000 mile service. New battery at 23000-00 miles,Gearbox rebuild (Warranty) at 28000-00 miles new clutch at 39000-00 miles. Not a reliable or well built ... more

    L200 is a sadly flawed vehicle. Have a 2005 Animal version with leather seats, air conditioning and the uprated 140BHP engine. - used mainly for motorway driving with the load bay used for dive gear and the dog!! Surprisingly comfortable for a pickup and pulls really well in most circumstances making it a great compromise. But, the turning circle is abominable and the mechanics have proved to be extremely fragile and troublesome for a vehicle of this supposed quality.     To be voted the best pick-up for so many years in a row the Mitsubishi L200 pick-up must be something special ! IT IS - I have just bought a double cab L200 - an Imported model very similar to the 4Life model sold in the UK. I have found it great on and off-road, if a little too long for some off-road work. Sturdy, faily quick and economical.     This car ticks all our boxes. I always feel safe and find it very easy to drive. I was worried that I would find it difficult as I was used to driving smaller vehicles - but actually find it easier!! I can even revrse park easily! So handy having the extra space in the boot. Love it!
