Ok, I won't beat around the bush. If you want a sports car, it's not for you. If you want an economical car, it's not for you and if you want a luxurious car then it's also not for you.
BUT, and for those of us who truly love cars, this is a big but
I think it's about the most fun car I've ever driven (apart from a 4.0l Jeep Wrangler)
It's riddled with faults, but those (for me) just enhance the character.
First off
The engine is dreadful. Noisy, ... ...really enough torque to compensate. The turbo lags until about 2500rpm when it hits you badly under hard acceleration. It is VERY lethargic until the turbo finally spools
Mine's just a base model on an 02 plate so it has a Tape player rather than CD, a plastic fantastic dash and cloth seats. But again, this for me is good. The interior doesn't pretend to be from a Rolls-Royce. It's almost like it's just there because they had no other choice

Advantages: Hmm, erm, well not really any other than a tax perk. Disadvantages: Just a terrible, terrible truck really.
...drug, beats me. Mitsubishi have lost the plot as far as cars go, with the exception of the Evo. Even the help of Daimler Chrysler could not help this ailing company from producing a car worthy of the price they charge and this beast aint worth the plastic it is made from. Looks wise, the L200 is a different story, with the Animal and the Warrior giving it a boost and lots of stuck on chrome (They use blobs of mastic!) bling it up for the egotistical ... ...somewhat unreliable which is unlike Mitsubishi but I have seen these trucks come back no a daily basis with blown out engines. There seems to be a few teething problems that have gone on for a while now. Overall this truck is uncomfortable, heavy on the juice and expensive to run but it wont stop the middle aged wannabe's buying them and sporting surf wear and bleached hair. If you need a truck for work then fair play but you can carry more in the ...

...stylish pick ups offered by mitsubishi amongst other manufacurers have fitted the gap in the industry perfectly. I was bought a 2001 mitsubushi l200 by my Dad as i needed a decent and reliable vehicle for work aswell as leisure. The vehicle i have is the mitsubushi triton which is powered by a 3 litre V6 petrol engine (laterly lpg converted). --- The Drive ---

The suspension is quite firm, so the ride can be a little bumpy at times depending on the road condition. Bearing in mind this is not a luxury 4x4 so dont expect a super smooth ride. This is designed for carrying things firstly. The engine is responsive and the automatic gear box is reasonably smooth. Acceleration is excellent as expected from a large ...

...of nowhere, we were given Mitsubishi and Mazda pickups to use in the mud.
With slush and mud sometimes getting up to two feet deep in certain places (not to mention what tractor treads can do the bare earth) this pickup worked marvelously.
With the non-turbo charged assigned to the general staff, I was only able to drive the non-turbo version. The L200 will get you there, with all the style and power you need, at a rather affordable price. ...

...4 turbodiesel engine is a Mitsubishi stalwart and should last forever - it's very understressed with a mere 98bhp but it keeps up okay with traffic. Fuel economy hovers around 30MPG, which isn't too bad considering.
This isn't a great car, but if you need a pick up it's probably one of the best. ...

...been pestering me for the mitsubishi L200 for a while but after only driving for 8 months the sheer thought of a machine that size was seriously frightning. But i gave in and went to test drive a 53reg silver warrior which had no VAT on it as some other private user had already paid it.If you are a private buyer this is something you seriously need to consider. To my surprise the ease of driving this vehicle was amazing. When you get in the vehicle ... ...after a phone call to mitsubishi the service was going to cost £270 (ouch). The interior of the car is very typical of a japenese car it is not full of gadgets or 5star luxery but everything is exactly laid out where it should be. Also i should mention that this car does not come with an alarm as standard.
For a commercial user there is no better vehicle in my opinion the car does exactly what it says on the tin its a big heavy load lugger which ...

Advantages: Multi-functional/High driving position/Good towing capability/Commercial class vehicle with reasonable comfort level/Full VAT recovery under current legislation/PAYE tax on £500-00 only as still classed by revenue as commercial vehicle. Disadvantages: Poor steering lock/High fuel use (Diesel)/Poor reliability/Frequent service intervals(4500 miles)/High dealer service cost
Have used vehicle as a car and for light commercial work including towing.
Rear passengers have little leg roomm and basic bench seating.
Payload good but difficult to get weight far enough forward to distribute correctly.
Four wheel drive effective off-road dependant on tyre choice.
Great for bringing down PAYE car tax but not a great all-rounder.

Recomend that vehicle is not purchased without good research and test drive to ensure it is not just a purchase to reduce tax liability but fullfills a need that can be lived with. ...

...years in a row the Mitsubishi L200 pick-up must be something special !
IT IS - I have just bought a double cab L200 - an Imported model very similar to the 4Life model sold in the UK. I have found it great on and off-road, if a little too long for some off-road work. Sturdy, faily quick and economical. I bought the pick-up to use as a family vehicle, not for commercial use - and found it difficult to insure as a non-commercial owner

This car ticks all our boxes. I always feel safe and find it very easy to drive. I was worried that I would find it difficult as I was used to driving smaller vehicles - but actually find it easier!! I can even revrse park easily! So handy having the extra space in the boot. Love it! ...

Advantages: Good looks still, easy to work on, reliable Disadvantages: new line of pickups has left it behind, high spares prices
I have had two L200's now the first being a 99 model, with the 98hp engine and a 2004 one with the 113hp unit. The new one is better without a doubt for pulling power however seems to be more prone to problems with a ecu being replaced and idle problems.
Easy to maintain yourself, just make sure the oil is changed regular and you will not go far wrong.
I imported 4 from cyprus and kept one and sold 3, check rubber prob shaft mount as this goes ... ...replace and does not cost much.
The new Navara has left the old L200 strugglin now with the introduction of a 172hp engine, even the new L200 is not there yet, also the styling of the new L200 is not everyones cup fo tea!, anyhow these trucks are reliable and will go on and on and with the numbers sold i think they will be around for some time. ...
