“L200?Best first car ever”

published 03/02/2008

looks, towing capability, 4x4

uncomfortable, unrefined, slow, uneconomical

Ok, I won't beat around the bush. If you want a sports car, it's not for you. If you want an economical car, it's not for you and if you want a luxurious car then it's also not for you. BUT, and for those of us who truly love cars, this is a big but I think it's about the most fun car I've ever...

Not for me

Hmm, erm, well not really any other than a tax per...

Just a terrible, terrible truck really.

Having been in the motor trade for some 12 years, from salesman to sales manager, I have driven hundreds of different cars from dozens of different manufacturers and I can honestly say these cars have to be one of the worst vehicles I have had the opportunity to drive in my life. How anyone can...

“Great for work and play!”

Good looks, practicality, reliability

Fuel consumptions, parking

---Brief--- Working in the construction industry it is difficult to find a compromise between a leisure vehicle and a works vehicle. However the new generation of stylish pick ups offered by mitsubishi amongst other manufacurers have fitted the gap in the industry perfectly. I was bought a 2001...

mid-range off-road capability

not the most powerful machine

Working on a 77km pipeline in the middle of nowhere, we were given Mitsubishi and Mazda pickups to use in the mud. With slush and mud sometimes getting up to two feet deep in certain places (not to mention what tractor treads can do the bare earth) this pickup worked marvelously. With the non...

“Flawed but fun”

published 19/12/2005

Practicality, looks, reliable engine

Quality issues, cramped cabin

My family bought this as a commercial/leisure vehicle and it just about filled its purpose. The main concern is quality - nothing fell off, but there were various problems such as paint chipping off the bumper, badly corroded alloy wheels, worn syncromesh on first gear, clonking rear axle and...

“My L200 Warrior”

published 01/12/2004

High driving position/Looks fantastic

High Fuel consumption/Exspensive service costs

My husband had been pestering me for the mitsubishi L200 for a while but after only driving for 8 months the sheer thought of a machine that size was seriously frightning. But i gave in and went to test drive a 53reg silver warrior which had no VAT on it as some other private user had already...

Good

Compromise between comfort and load capacity

Poor mechanical quality, abominable turning circle

L200 is a sadly flawed vehicle. Have a 2005 Animal version with leather seats, air conditioning and the uprated 140BHP engine. - used mainly for motorway driving with the load bay used for dive gear and the dog!! Surprisingly comfortable for a pickup and pulls really well in most circumstances...

Have used vehicle as a car and for light commercial work including towing. Rear passengers have little leg roomm and basic bench seating. Payload good but difficult to get weight far enough forward to distribute correctly. Four wheel drive effective off-road dependant on tyre choice. Great for...

This car ticks all our boxes. I always feel safe and find it very easy to drive. I was worried that I would find it difficult as I was used to driving smaller vehicles - but actually find it easier!! I can even revrse park easily! So handy having the extra space in the boot. Love it!

“The Mitsubishi L200 Pick-Up”

published 20/07/2000

Space, Pace and good looks

A little too long for true off-raod work

To be voted the best pick-up for so many years in a row the Mitsubishi L200 pick-up must be something special ! IT IS - I have just bought a double cab L200 - an Imported model very similar to the 4Life model sold in the UK. I have found it great on and off-road, if a little too long for some off...

“good but getting dated now.”

published 06/11/2006

Good looks still, easy to work on, reliable

new line of pickups has left it behind, high spare...

I have had two L200's now the first being a 99 model, with the 98hp engine and a 2004 one with the 113hp unit. The new one is better without a doubt for pulling power however seems to be more prone to problems with a ecu being replaced and idle problems. Easy to maintain yourself, just make sure...

Where should the Jack be kept on a L2oo if it has one? I am a lady owner and not had the l200 long. I am not sure how I get the spare tyre off from under the car?...

There is a kit behind the back seats. There should be some sort of lead to pull a latch up on the top of the middle back seat where the is no head restraint. Pull the lead and the vertical row of seats will come forward.

I have owned a 2000 X model since new, great build quality, no problems. Its still going strong with 98500 miles on the clock. This is the reason I havn't changed it. It's a great utility vehicle loaded every day with kit handles like a vehicle half it's size, still scrubs up well to use on an evening/weekend. Not had a clutch yet and I don't hold back when driving it in actual fact people are supprised how quick it is and how well it handles. It completly standard. The only thing is the serviceing, it is a pain but keep on top of it and in my experiance it pays dividends. As for fuel consumption buy a 4x4 expect bigger fuel bills.
